One night. That's all it was supposed to be...
Reeling from the sudden loss of her sister, Haddie Montgomery has sworn off relationships. All she wanted from Beckett Daniels was a sexy distraction to help her escape her pain for just a little while. There weren't supposed to be any strings attached - so why can't she shake the memory of that unforgettable night from her thoughts? Or the taste of his kiss from her lips?
No matter how hard Haddie tries to forget about him, Becks relentlessly tries to prove that she should start living for today. But she is determined to avoid romantic commitment, and she can always use her ex-boyfriend's reappearance to help snuff out the slow burn within her that Becks has sparked.
Or will fate force her to realize that this kind of connection doesn’t come along very often and a chance at love is worth the risk?

The story managed to capture my attention span which quite a few books failed to do lately. The focus was the evil disease of cancer. Haddie was so taken over by first the devastation it left on her family and the effects it left on family and friends as with what happened to her brother-in-law. Then her battle to face it. As a result I found very very few things to like about her. Yes. I understand her situation, but the lies on top of lies in an effort to separate herself from others and in particular from Beck got to me. I got the impression all she cared about was escape into sex and it did not matter with whom either) . To me, Beck was too good for her. She came off as a selfish bitch. I did not feel the love between them. It was just sexual chemistry.
Yes, I am so glad I have the audio edition. The emotion in Haddie's voice just tour at your heart. I have never cried so much over one book before.
From the books I have read this book stands out and addresses an issue that should be out and all of the sorrow, pain, and love makes this book powerful
Kelly & Abel bring the emotion to the surface, I probably would never have finished the book because it is really hard to read through tears.
Time is precious, waste it wisely
I loved the Driven series and I am so glad we got a look at Becks and Haddie love the all.
Thank you for your talant and writing a beautiful and emotional story.
Well it's actually not Dan. It's his wife who can't figure out how to change that on the profile. But I love to read and listen to books.
Loved the Driven series and I'm not a race car fan. I wasn't sure about this one, but so glad I bought it. Great story line. Two great deserving people with so much to give. And Wow Beckett was the best guy ever. Love a man who knows what he wants and goes after it. Oh and sticks around when the going gets tough. I think this had some of the sweetest lines and scenes ever. The audio was wonderful too. Way to go K. Bromberg!!
You do not have to have read the Driven series to read this book. But why would you NOT fall in love with Colton too??
Mom of 3 saved by her audiobook addiction!
I loved Colton and Rhylee's story but I fell in love with Colton and Becks. Their story had passion and love and compassion. And you just couldn't help falling in love with Beckett a little more each time.
I would have to say this was the best book in the entire set. I would describe it as heartbreaking , love, and forever! This hit so close to home for me that the way it was written made my face hurt from smiling to tears rolling down my face....
Talking to her sisters husband about he would not trade on second of the time he got to spend with her before her death.
The raw emotions in Kelly's voice made me feel she was Hattie telling her story and Abel was smooth thru out.
Yes, If I could I would. I even changed my work schedule to listen more.
There are so many romance novels today; many like this one containing lots of sexuality. Although Ms. Bromberg, like so many others, has also dealt with child and sexual abuse in her prior books, Slow Burn stands alone for me in dealing with a topic that touches a great many more lives.
Many highs and lows. Don't want to be a spoiler so I'll just encourage you to listen to the end. Ms Bromberg did a masterful job of painting Hattie and Becks.
Another beautiful well written story! Fell in love w Haddie and Beckett! Plus we got glimpses of my all time favorite couple, Rylee and Colton!! Sigh!! As with all of K Bromberg's stories it will rip your heart out but then slowly she pieces you back together. Making you stronger than ever! Most definitely worth a credit!
