Great Books Don't Promote Violence
I enjoyed most of the characters in Saved by the Rancher - especially Lilly (precocious 3 year old), Sally (family dog) and Blue (wild horse). However, certain parts of the plot were too ridiculous to be believable.
Jenna was spunky & smart, so why didn't she get take self-defense training or learn to use a weapon. Also, she could have used video and/or audio recordings to prove that David (ex-husband) was abusive and violent.
When Jenna arrived at Jack's ranch, beaten & bleeding, I didn't buy that she went from being terrified of men to falling in love with Jack and having wild sex in a few weeks. It also would have been more interesting if Jenna had learned to protect herself.
Hot romance/Sci Fi we're so lucky to have Audible to feed our book addictions. I love walking my precious dog Sydney & listening to my books
I LOVED, SO LOVED this book. The story was Pure Gold and totally excellent. It has everything in it from love, sex and total non-conditional Love I am new to Jennifer Ryan and will be stalking the next book in this series praying it will be released on Audible very soon...
Marrying millionaire David Merrick was the biggest mistake of Jenna Caldwell’s life. Two years after their divorce, Jenna is still on the run, relocating to a new place every few months after each terrifying run-in with her ex. No matter where she hides, he always finds her, and each time his temper worsens. Bruised, battered, and bloodied, Jenna takes her lawyer’s advice and relocated to a quiet ranch in Colorado in the hopes that she can finally stop running…
Jack Turner was also running; in the hopes of forgetting about his nightmarish experiences in the army, he’s retreated to his family’s ranch. But Jenna shows up and forces him out of his isolation—and right into her arms. All he wants to do is pull her close and protect her from the world—and especially from her stalker of an ex.But David Merrick is on the hunt for Jenna and he won’t stop until she’s dead.
Say something about yourself!
This story had a good plot and a great hero.
That was all it had going for it. It was ruined by the extremely rushed unrealistic romance, and dragged on and on about the ex husband. She was extremely abused by her ex who she married only 3 months after meeting him. Then we are to believe she will rush into making out/love and sex and another marriage proposal with a rush to get her pregnant with a man she has only known for days, half of that time she was out cold due to her injuries??? WTF? No freaking way. It should have been written they came to trust and love one another over the matter of months at least. I had hopes for this hero’s story but it was a let down and an eye rolling book. Sorry but it didn’t work for me. The narrator has an annoying female voice I can’t stand.
I am a 40ish woman with more interests than time but some of my favorite things are books, audio books and e-books. I have over 325 audio titles and have already listened to about 2/3rds of them. I drive over 25000 miles a year and my listening keeps me sane on the road.
I have read other books by Jennifer Ryan but this one bothered me immensely for a variety of reasons.
The relationship between Jack and Jenna happened so fast I had whiplash. There was no build up to it. They met, she became unconscious and three days later they were in love. I couldn't suspend disbelief at all. Jenna is completely without flaw and seems like a plastic character as she never seems to evolve either. If I was stalked and attacked over and over I would've taken self defense lessons and bought a gun, not to mention DNA evidence. It just rang false. I wanted to like it so I gave it two stars but this one left me cold. I hate when females are professional victims. I also thought Jack could be an insensitive pr**k. He needed to get his rocks off more than he needed to not cause the supposed woman he loves pain. Yeah no.
Loved the narrator's voice and the story line was great to listen to. However, I would have enjoyed much less sex and more action! The action parts always left me wanting more. Story ended perfectly!
"Book 1The Hunted Series"
This is the 1st Book I have from this author
and loved it.
This is a good read though I have to say I wonder at the heroine not feeling threatened by a hero who is violent in his reactions to her life story.
I also have issues with the language skills of the three year old featured in the story. If I was reading the book perhaps it would not have struck me so much but I find it takes you out of the story when something jars you as not being right.
Moans apart I did listen again which is a marker for me that a book is good.
