Really good addition to the series. :D

4-4.5 stars

This was a really good story. I liked both Jessica and Sed and rooted for them to get back together from the moment they broke up. This was a very good addition to the series and gives more attention to the other characters and showing the band dynamic.

Jessica is a law student and currently works as an exotic dancer for extra cash to cover what the financial aid and scholarships don't cover. She is beautiful and men are always fawning over her but she has no interest in them and just wished they'd leave her alone. The only man she wants is Sed. They were engaged 2 years before but when she got in to law school he demanded that she give up her dream of being a lawyer and just be there for him and whatever he wants. Jessica was heartbroken by Sed's lack of caring about what she wanted and decided to leave, hoping until the end that Sed would stop her but he didn't.

Sed is the lead singer of Sinners, a very popular rock band. He lives the rock lifestyle and basically sleeps with tons of girls…usually more than one at a time. This seems to be mostly because he can’t rouse enough interest in messing with most girls unless he makes things interesting with multiples. The one girl he's never had that issue with (and who he still loves) is Jessica but they broke up 2 years before. Sed didn't believe Jessica when she threatened to leave him...too caught up in his own overblown sense of worth to even think it was possible she could leave him. Sed couldn't accept that he was responsible for Jessica leaving but he never got over her and still misses her.

Brian and Myrna (from book #1, Backstage Pass) are getting married and the story begins just as Sed and the band are getting ready to head out for Brian’s bachelor party. Brian’s actually not too hot on being there but the guys are determined to have a last night of fun with Brian before he’s married. They find a table but things quickly go to hell when Sed recognizes the dancer as Jessica. Sed freaks, throwing his coat over her and trying to pull her off the stage and away from the other men’s gazes. He demands to know why she’s working there and isn't happy when she tells him she works there for money for school. For some reason Sed gets pissed at Jessica for not coming to him for money for school but I don’t see why she’d ever go to him for money since he demanded that she give up law school for him. In his anger, Sed goes a little overboard and pisses Jessica off and she stalks off. Because of the ruckus at the strip club, Jessica gets fired and also gets kicked out of her apartment because she didn't have any money to pay rent. Jessica goes to yell at Sed for ruining her life again but runs in to Myrna and they talk. Myrna talks to Jessica and when she finds out that Jessica is homeless and out of work, she offers Jessica a job as her assistant for her research project. Jessica isn't thrilled about having to deal with Sed but agrees because she’s desperate. Sed is shocked to find her there and also not thrilled about her being on the tour.

Despite their mutual enmity, it doesn't take long before their attraction (and jealousy) spikes, driving them in to each other’s arms. The sex is great but Jessica is still hurt and angry about the past and doesn't think Sed respects or cares about her. She tries to hate him but I think what she hated more was that she still wanted him and couldn't hate him. Sed realizes just how much he’s missed Jessica and he doesn't care if she hates him, he wants her back in his life anyways and he’ll work on improving her feelings towards him. They agree to a purely sexual relationship for the 2 months that Jessica is supposed to be working for Myrna (although Sed does plan to convince Jessica to like him and want to be with him again). The problem is that the rest of the band pretty much hates Jessica because of how hurt Sed was after they split and she doesn't understand why she’s so hated. It seems like they blame her for Sed acting like a jerk after they split up but this wasn't fair because Sed's actions should be on him and not her. It also doesn't seem like everyone knows the reason why Jessica left Sed (him wanting her to give up on law school and not caring about her wants and dreams) so it's not always easy for Jessica. She tried to keep Sed at a distance but as she spends more time with him and sees him dealing with his band mates and the issues that confront them, she starts to realize maybe he's not such a bad guy after all. It takes some time for them to work past their problems and there are outside issues that need to be taken care of as well, keeping Sed and Jessica quite busy and mired in some sticky drama. As things improve between them, Jessica starts being more supportive of Sed and they become a pretty good team which helps them deal with the issues confronting them. Their path to happiness isn't smooth but they do get their well deserved HEA in the end.

I really enjoyed this story. Jessica was a pretty good heroine and she wasn't perfect but I had no real complaints about her and liked her. Sed could be a bit of a jerk at times (esp about their earlier breakup) but he has a sweet heart and while tough on people, usually has their best interest in mind. They made a great couple once they got together and I loved how the story ended (so sweet!). I'm looking forward to reading more in the series. I'd recommend this story. Thumbs up! :D

I wish the ending wasn’t so abrupt!

I really enjoyed this book. I even lost sleep staying up to listen to it. This couple did really annoy me with their lack of ability to communicate, effectively. I know that this happens in real relationships, all the time, but I just don’t get it. Anyway, if the author would have actually written the lyrics to the songs, especially the love song Zed wrote Jessica and if there would have been a couple more chapters after the couple officially planned their future, I would have given a five star rating. I really have enjoyed this series, so far!

Wonderfully Delicious

The first book in this series was very good so I was anxious about this one being as good. Oh my is it ever!!!!! Its better!!! I can't give enough compliments on this one and now I'm all excited about the next one. I'm going to have to see when it's expected out after all there has to be MORE!!!!!!!! For those of you who don't enjoy explict sexual content then you may want to pass on this one. But in my opinion its well worth your credit or your money!! Believe me you don't want to miss this series!

Just keeps getting better

I loved the first Sinner's book so I was looking forward to this one too. Sed and Jessica's story was excellent. In the first book you saw Sed as a broken hearted guy that used women as toys to forget his true love. This book is the love story. As much as you sometimes hated Sed in the first book you will fall in love with him in this book. The narrator, Justine, is excellent (yet again!)

Good-Better If You Like Rock & Roll-Fun Series

Where does Rock Hard rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Somewhere in the middle...extremely erotic sex scenes-not a lot of deep/complicated plot.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Rock Hard?

The lead singer's health emergency...well, written and vivid.

Which character – as performed by Justine O. Keef – was your favorite?

Jessica-although O'Keefe does a superb job with male characters as well

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No spoilers: The help that was offered to fellow band mate regarding prescription drugs.

Any additional comments?

Lots of sex and strong language...not a light romance.

You will fall for Sinners

If you could sum up Rock Hard in three words, what would they be?

Hot, Hard, Sexy

What was one of the most memorable moments of Rock Hard?

many, Sed, has turned out to BE very lovable! I listened out of order as I was interested in the characters and not just the sequence. this was a mistake. Each book builds to the next one very well. If you purchased out of order, no worries as Cunning blends so very well. She has done this the best so far of all the new authors I have purchased.

Which character – as performed by Justine O. Keef – was your favorite?

Eric, but he has so many funny lines. She does the main character in each book so very well and still manages to keep their personalities

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I have been listening to all the sinners books straight through. I am going to miss these guys after Eric story is published.

Remember, these are Erotic romance and very hard core, if you do not like that genre, then
these are not for you.

Any additional comments?

Not sure if Cunning is going to write Dare's story, but he is hot and not to be missed

Hot sex & rock n' roll!

Where does Rock Hard rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I really enjoy this series. The narrator does a great job with the voices and they stay consistent from volume to volume. Even the mens' voices are consistent, so you immediately recognize who is "talking" before the narration tells you. Great characters, good story lines and steamy sex - who can ask for more?

What does Justine O. Keef bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voices are really good, especially the mens' voices - and they are consistent, so you can recognize each one immediately.
