Publisher's summary

The club comes first.

I've lived by those words my whole life - assumed I'd die by them, too, and I never had a problem with that. My Reaper brothers took my back and I took theirs, and it was enough. Then I met her. Tinker Garrett. She's beautiful, she's loyal, and she works so damned hard it scares me sometimes. She deserves a good man - one better than me. I can't take of her yet, because the club still needs me. There's another woman, another job, another fight just ahead.

Now she'll learn I've been lying to her all along. None of it's real. Not my name, not my job, not even the clothes I wear. She thinks I'm nice. She pretends we're just friends, that I've still got a soul. Mine's been dead for years. Now I'm on fire for this woman, and a man can only burn for so long before he destroys everything around him.

I'm coming for you, Tinker. Soon.

UNDERWHELMED.. SORRY BUT WAS I EXPECTING TOO MUCH?

As this new Reaper's story unfolds it reveals Gage who oversees their Strip Club - he's handsome, sexy.. and is used to sleeping with different women each night, but now he's deep undercover to catch some thieves. His name is now Cooper and, to get close with the greedy President of the Nighthawks MC, he's dating Talia, the President's trashy sister but she's also bitchy and Gage loathes her. He has to do it for his Club.. but when he approaches Tinker, whose looking for a handyman, he's instantly attracted.. and instantly crushed because he can't do anything about it. So he kept his head down, kept pretending with Talia, kept getting closer to the mismanaged Nighthawks, kept lusting after the off-limits Tinker.. and craved the day he could claim his woman.

Tinker escaped a bad marriage which finally disintegrated over a tragedy - now home she looks after her ailing father and runs her own successful business. She didn't really date much but when Cooper, a gorgeous buff stranger, answered her ad for a handyman, Tinker started to dream.. and drool. There was obvious instant chemistry between them but her dreams soon died when his girlfriend very spitefully claimed him. So, all Tinker could do was to get on with her life - but temptation was never far - in fact it was right next door banging his girlfriend.

This was my least favorite book in the series - I'm all for a slow build up but this relationship took so long to get going I nearly gave up believing it ever would.. and all the time Gage (aka Cooper) was with his bitchy, dangerous and very unhinged girlfriend. Even when they did eventually get together (at about the70% mark) there really wasn't much to it because Tinker took time to get over being lied to and to the frightening reality that he was a part of the Reapers MC. This contained denied chemistry, a stolen kiss, longing looks, "what I wouldn't do to that body" thoughts, angst, drama, sex and a little romance.. but I don't think there was any actual "I love you's" said. There was also angst caused by her estranged husband and a wildfire that got closer and closer. I also thought the ending was rushed and the Epilogue was 20 yrs later and wasn't really about them!! It was told in dual POV's by a couple of great narrators and could absolutely be a standalone listen.

Worth a credit? If you're a Reapers fan then I'm sure you've already bought this - but if not then perhaps it isn't quite the best place to start because (IMO) there's been much much better romances in this awesome series. However, I still think it just about scraped through being creditworthy.

REAPER'S MC started my love of MC Books

Like I said Reaper's MC started my love of MC books. I have all the Reaper's and Silver Bastard's books and have listened to them several times and will listen several more. This is why I was disappointed in this book. It doesn't measure up to the rest of the series. It's to tame for Reaper's MC. I felt kind of lost at the end and was WTF with the epilogue that came out of left field.

Gage is sent undercover to Hallies Falls to infiltrate the Nighthawks MC which is a supporting club to the Reaper's. The Nighthawks dues paid to Reaper's has dropped and Gage needs to find out what is really going on.

Tinker lived in Seattle with her husband Brandon who is an attorney with aspirations to a political office. A tragedy happens with Tinker and the way Brandon reacts to it causes her to finally leave him. She moves back to Hallies Falls where she grew up, where her father lives, and where she takes over a small apartment building her mother owned, and she opens a chocolate shop.

Gage rents a room from Tinker. They fall into almost immediate LIKE. This is an attempt at their story.....

I also think that for a corrupt attorney Brandon's actions were pretty tame. I was disappointed that he didn't get his just-deserves.

I'm curious if Joanna Wylde even wrote this book since it's so far off the marker from the other books.

When Sean Crisden and Tatiana Sokolov are performing I don't even listen to the sample audio. These two are an automatic purchase for me.

Is it worth a credit/$$ You decide. As much as I hate to breakup a series I'm not keeping this one.

Unfortunately, this didn't work for me

This is probably more around the 2.5 star range. The enjoyable narration adds the additional half star.

It really hurts me to say that I didn't love this. I really wish I'd read a couple reviews before blowing an audible credit on this one. Not that the narration was bad. It was actually pretty good. The problem here is this story was not my thing. Don't worry though, I'm not going to write a long flowing discourse on why this didn't agree with me, instead here are the major problems summed up for you by the H himself:

"Right now she's a little pissed off. Apparently, women don't like it when you lie to them about who you are and then fuck another bitch under there nose for weeks at a time."

Ummm, ya think??!!

Sure, there were extenuating circumstances and yes I understood, but in the end I still didn't click with these characters or their dramas. I probably could have gotten over the drama had I felt any connection to them or even felt the connection between them was real.

Moving on...I enjoy this Joana Wylde's writing and will likely read more of her work. I just won't go in blind.

What a build up with no answers. SPOILERS*****

1. What happened to Talia was she ever arrested?
2. Tinker's ex husband what happened with the divorce? Did he have money? What did she end up with? This was so disappointing because there was so much talk about it. And the book ended leaving you to figure it out. Did she get the house?
3. What was Marsh's sentence?

All the drama was going on but it left you figuring out how things worked out.

Loved it!

I'm s glad Joanna Wylde wrote another book. I missed the Reaper's. If you listened to the previous books then you'll definitely listen to this one too.

If your new to the Reaper's, you can read this book and still be able to follow the story.

Had an important event not included

Overall, I loved this book as much as the others. However, I was stunned that a brutal attack that Gage suffered by the antagonists wasn't included. It was briefly mentioned in Painters book and it was described as seriously life threatening. I feel like it was a huge event, in this story and it should have, absolutely , been included. As a matter of fact, I believe it was much more important than the epilogue they included.

SORELY DISAPPOINTED !!!

Love the author; love the Reapers' stories and love Tatiana Sokolov's narration; however, this story lacked the pizzazz, drama, and suspense the other's had and not a fan of SC's narration.

It felt like JW was in a hurry to please her fans with another Reaper's saga and just really missed the mark, in my opinion.

Sugar Rush of Biker Goodness

Where does Reaper's Fire rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

3 Stars is I liked it enough to finish the book. 4 stars is I liked it but I'll never read it again. 5 stars is I liked it and I WILL be enjoying this story over and over again. Joanna Wylde's stories are cravings that you cannot satisfy. You get to experience that exquisite bite of sugar rush heaven. It carries you through to 4/5ths of the story then you start dreading because as you read, you know the end of the story is coming and your brain is screaming, I'm not ready, I need this to be longer. I need more time with these people. This is my Joanna Wylde addiction and Reapers Fire satisfied my craving for too short of a time but ooh How I enjoyed my time. I am grateful to women like Joanna Wylde for sharing their talent and their stories. I enjoyed every minute of Reapers Fire.

What about Sean Crisden and Tatiana Sokolov ’s performance did you like?

Tatiana Sokolov is The Top audiobook actress available. I listen to about five audiobooks a week. Sometimes, you get an actress that does a great job on one book but the next book is ehh okay. Tatiana Sokolov is a quality brand. When she is speaking, you feel her emotions. The happy, the quivering and almost a cry. She has a wide range to use to entertain. Sometimes I will be so engrossed in a scene because the emotions are so overwhelming. Then I play it back to listen and pay attention to how she chose to read that part. Tatiana Sokolov overwhelms me with her choices on how to play a scene, when your listening, pretend you are in the recording studio and ask yourself how you would have read that scene. That's when you will know why she is The Best.
Sean Crisden has that perfect deep, manly voice that shares emotions. I have heard other men with deep voices read and it's boring, monotone storytelling. He inflects, he gets into the story. He speaks it and you FEEL it. His voice wraps around my lady parts. He is the perfect Alpha male audiobook actor.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This is a book that you can listen to on a long car ride and get lost in the journey. Then mark the good spots for later in the boudoir. Sean Crisden has that kind of voice that makes you want to ....

Any additional comments?

Joanna Wylde writes the stories I want to read with characters I want to meet. Waited awhile for this book as J.W. fought through an illness and enough re-starts and re-writes to tease us into a frenzy with her Facebook posts. We couldn't wait to enter back into the Reapers world and lives. I enjoyed this book.
