Amazing
After reading reviews I thought this would be full of very descriptive sex scenes. I recently started watching the show and wanted to listen to the book for more details and background info. I almost skipped it due to the reviews but heck it was just a credit no biggie if it turned out I didn’t wanna listen to it. Well yes there are sexy scenes but they aren’t as often nor very descriptive (with one awful exception that was really really hard to listen to). Besides that this book was absolutely amazing. The narrator I enjoyed but I couldn’t get past listening to the background noises in her house (someone coughing and a tv or radio) though very faint I still kept hearing them. Now I’m moving on to the next book!

Amazing book and phenomenal performance
One of the best books I have ever read, (and I have been an avid reader since the age of 5.) This has action and adventure, historical romance, humor and so much more. I cried, laughed, sat on the edge of my seat and stayed up way too late reading. Davina Porter is incredibly talented. She captures every character. Perfectly. It is amazing all the voices and accents she is able to accomplish. I have read all 8 books and now starting over in anticipation of book 9 coming out soon. Warning: this is not for young audience. There is violence, sex, foul language, torture. This is not the main theme of the book. But it is liberally spread throughout. Can not recommend my highly enough.

Completely consuming!
I have never seen the show, but the books were recommended by a friend. I am so glad I listened! The characters are so well developed and the story so rich with detail that I was completely consumed immediately. This review is short because I can't wait to start the next book!

Amazing Performance
I'll be honest, the book lost me from time to time, a bit lengthy. But Davina Porter is amazingly talented and dragged me back every time! Wow wow wow. I cannot say enough about her fantastic work and to the studio that she recorded with. standting ovation! Huge respect!

Wonderful!
Finally, a great romance accompanied by a worthy plot! I loved the book and the narration was also great. Looking back, it took me maybe one or two chapters to get used to the narrator's voice (I struggled to place the voice on a 27 year old woman; the narrator's voice just seemed older to me), but later I came to really appreciate the narration; in fact, I think it's one of the many things that made this book so great.

great story, good narrator
Don't listen to those other bad reviews. I read through them, and they all just had no idea what KIND of novel they were reading. Not the book or author's fault that they were ignorant. It's a romance/historical fiction. I can't believe someone actually said there was too much rape and violence. They probably have never taken a history class in their lives. 18th century highlands during the jacobite rising people.
I recommend this novel to people who like THESE kinds of novels. I'm not sure what those other people were expecting. Adventure? I'm pretty sure it doesn't say it's an adventure novel.
