Have loved this book for years
If you could sum up Outlander in three words, what would they be?
wonderful story & characters
Who was your favorite character and why?
Claire - she is the main focus of the story and I can relate to her attitude to life.
Have you listened to any of Davina Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
no, she plays the parts well BUT I wish she could learn to pronounce 'plaid' correctly. She says PLAYED rather than the correct PLAD - grates on me every time (and it is said a LOT).
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
no, I knew I couldn't, though I tried. staying up to 4am one night!
Any additional comments?
I will be getting the rest of this series on audio, despite already owning all the books. Definitely says eye strain!

Provoking historical fiction, excellent characters
What did you love best about Outlander?
The length of this book has deterred me for some time now. That said, I decided finally to pursue it on audio book. So glad I did!
As this book has been out for some time, I won't discuss its plot, just the overall characteristics that made me love it.
I love a book that teaches me something along the way, encouraging me to look things up. Life in the Scottish highlands mid 1700s was a brutal time and place to live. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about day-to-day life and how the clans worked. Most especially, I have accumulated a wonderful new vocabulary!
The characters were so well done, I loved and hated them as appropriate. The element of time travel was spot-on because I can never get enough of it.
Audio book recording was choppy at times... leaving me to feel like we may have skipped something. Ultimately, I think it was all there.
Highly recommend if this kind of stuff is your bag.

Truly FANTASTIC voices!!
Davina Porter has 20 years experience doing voice readings and it shows. She really captures each character's voice. I especially enjoy the Scottish accent and Gaelic. Because I speak American-English, I can only do the voices so much justice. I just love listening to Jamie's voice. Claire finds Jamie's voice sorting and peaceful, and Davina makes me feel the same.
The books in themselves.... UNBELIEVABLE. Truly fantastic writing, and this coming from a bibliophile. She always leaves me speechless and wanting more. A solid 10/10.
