Publisher's summary

You can run from the grave, but you can't hide. Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She's still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her. But when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind.

Being around him awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline kick of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head—wanted: dead or half-alive—means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard she tries to keep things professional between them, she'll find that desire lasts forever and that Bones won't let her get away again.

Jeaniene Frost, New York Times and USA Today best-selling author, lives with her husband and their very spoiled dog in Florida. Although not a vampire herself, she confesses to having pale skin, wearing a lot of black, and sleeping in late whenever possible. And while she can't see ghosts, she loves to walk through old cemeteries. She also loves poetry and animals, but fears children and hates to cook.

Love in vein: listen to another Night Huntress novel.

Critic reviews

“Proving that her first book was no fluke, Frost ratchets up the action and stirs up the suspense big time in her second Night Huntress novel. That said, it's the sizzling passion of her star-crossed lovers that really makes this book a genuine keeper!” ( Romantic Times)
“This series is only getting better…between the exciting action scenes and the rekindled romance between Cat and Bones, I did not put this one down until the last page.” ( Coffee Time Romance)

Outstanding Book! Accurate Portrayal of Characters

I absolutely love this series. It is seariously funny and the characters are captivating. I will be the first to admit that the narrator's portrayal of Bones drove me nuts. HOWEVER, once I actually read these books, instead of just listening to them, I realized that she really is doing a good job. i.e. Bones really does say "Hallo" instead of "Hello". Personally, I don't like this, in the book or audio, but it is correct and not the fault of the narrator. I honestly think that only a man can make the Brittish Cockney accent sound masculine, but hey, that's just my opinion. It was a fair trade for a stellar portrayal of Cat. It was extremely easy for me to get over this though.

I wish I would run into the love of my life again!

What did you love best about One Foot in the Grave?

When Cat saw bones at Denise's wedding and stared at him down the isle. My heart was pounding beacuse I know what I would have done. Stoped walking in my tracks. Said "sorry girl, its your day, but thats my man over there! I need 10 minutes!"

What other book might you compare One Foot in the Grave to and why?

Only other night huntress books for being so damn good!

Which character – as performed by Tavia Gilbert – was your favorite?

Bones. At first I hated his bloody accent in the previous novel. But I had to say I was missing his "cherrio" accent with a passion. I couldn't wait to hear him speak again!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yeah of course. Anticipation was killer!

Any additional comments?

read this book! Or better yet listen Tavia is great!

Mrs J. B'ham, Al

What made the experience of listening to One Foot in the Grave the most enjoyable?

This book has great balance. Great story...great narrator...great finish...Listners beware... The series is very addictive....I am looking forward to the next installment...

Who was your favorite character and why?

Each character bring such a wonderful flavor to the story line. If I had to pick just one character then it would be Bones. He is responsible for the growth and devolpment of the lead character.

What about Tavia Gilbert’s performance did you like?

She brought the characters to life. I am not sure if the series would be as successful without her voice.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were many instances that I laughed out loud...I typically listen to a book while commuting to and from work. I found the series so entertaining until I completed the book in one listening session. My work suffered from my inability to push the pause botton.

Any additional comments?

I found this series by happenstance. I am thanking my audible angels for sending me the suggestion....

One of my favorites

I love this whole series. I listen while I’m walking and sometimes walk extra just so I can get to the end of the chapter or maybe even another whole chapter. Well worth the investment

Highly recommended!

Book one was amazing and book two of the Night Huntress series doesn’t disappoint, either! Jeaniene delivers another amazing book and, frankly, the whole series is wonderful. The narrator is spot on with the tone of the book and I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook.

Cat and her kick-butt team

Would you consider the audio edition of One Foot in the Grave to be better than the print version?

I did not read the print version.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Cat is great. She is developing as a strong leader, training and guiding a team of vampire killers who are strong and loyal. Her best friend, Denise, shows up in this book, and I love the voice Tavia gives her. Bones also makes an appearance, and proves that the magic between Cat and Bones cannot be denied.

Which character – as performed by Tavia Gilbert – was your favorite?

I like the voice she gives to Denise. I also like the young men on Cat's team who are her devoted vamp hunters. She gives each of them a distinct personality. Her boss, Don, is fun as a gruff but fair man. Since we're talking favorites, let me say that my LEAST favorite is her mother. The way her mom says 'Katherine' in that nasally, whining voice makes you wish she would just smack her mom down once and for all.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listen to it while I'm out and about, and I am always pulled back into the story when I push 'play.'

Any additional comments?

This is a great book to take the series forward. Sets the premise for some fun to come.
