Publisher's summary

You can run from the grave, but you can't hide. Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She's still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her. But when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind.

Being around him awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline kick of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head—wanted: dead or half-alive—means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard she tries to keep things professional between them, she'll find that desire lasts forever and that Bones won't let her get away again.

Jeaniene Frost, New York Times and USA Today best-selling author, lives with her husband and their very spoiled dog in Florida. Although not a vampire herself, she confesses to having pale skin, wearing a lot of black, and sleeping in late whenever possible. And while she can't see ghosts, she loves to walk through old cemeteries. She also loves poetry and animals, but fears children and hates to cook.

Critic reviews

“Proving that her first book was no fluke, Frost ratchets up the action and stirs up the suspense big time in her second Night Huntress novel. That said, it's the sizzling passion of her star-crossed lovers that really makes this book a genuine keeper!” ( Romantic Times)
“This series is only getting better…between the exciting action scenes and the rekindled romance between Cat and Bones, I did not put this one down until the last page.” ( Coffee Time Romance)

Better than the first book

This book was a lot better than the first one. It's been four years since the end of the last book and Cat has grown up a lot and I liked her a lot better. If I hadn't already had this book I probably wouldn't have continued listening after the first one. There's some interesting twists and turns and it was fun to watch the developing relationship after Cat and Bones meet again. Be prepared for a few long long love scenes.

Just wish the narrator could be a little better with Bones' voice.

Sooo goood!!!

I loved this book even better than the first book. Cat is an amazing strong character but she's also honest with the way she feels about things. I was so happy that her and Bones got back together. I love their chemistry, whether they're fighting vamps or in the bedroom. The one thing I have to say is that this book is categorized "flirty" on the steaminess radar and it is definitely far beyond that. There's some crazy sexy stuff going on in this book that is a lot more than flirty. Definitely mis categorized.

Narrator

Struggling listening to the narrator because Bones’s sounds not the way I pictured and not what I expected, but maybe what others expected.

Makes for a Short Commute

So this book was way better than the first. I'm addicted to this series and can't wait to keep going. I loved some of the turns the series took with this installment and there was definitely some stuff there that I wasn't expecting. These books are making for wonderful entertaining on my daily commute. Again, my main complaint is with the voice the narrator uses for Bones. Isn't just not masculine enough. But I do recommend these books for anyone that likes some urban romance. Just beware there are very long and detailed sex scenes in the books.

WORTH IT.

THIS BOOK IS DEFINITLY BETTER THAN THE FIRST BOOK. I ALMOST PASSED IT UP BUT IM GLAD I DIDNT. I DIDNT KNOW IT I WOULD WANT TO LISTEN TO IT DUE TO WHO THE FIRST BOOK ENDED BUT OVER ALL IT WAS GREAT. I THOUGHT IT WAS PRETTY EXCITING AND I WILL DEFINITLY BE LISTENING TO THIS BOOK AGAIN.

Well worth the wait! Excellent!!

I absolutely loved this book. I was eagerly awaiting the follow up to Halfway to the Grave, and it was so worth the wait. I was laughing and smiling throughout the book. I was a grinning fool. The narration is excellent. Tavia Gilbert totally encompasses all the characters, and completely acts out the story line with her voice alone. I can't wait for the next book!!

2nd Book in the Huntress Series

I AM SO HOOKED on Cat and Bones' love story. This series of books has everything the hardcore romance novel lover could want along combined with the paranormal. Action packed, steamy romance, sweet love story, vampires...What more could a person want.

Tavia Gilbert, the narrator, is the essence of this audio series. Well DONE!!! BUY THEM ALL! I have.

No pussy-footing around!

Would you consider the audio edition of One Foot in the Grave to be better than the print version?

This is the second book in the Night Huntress series. Although you could read this as a standalone, I think it would be hard to relate to what was going on without reading the first book Halfway to the Grave first.

In this story, we find Cat still hunting vampires, but as a federal agent with a team of guys that act as her backup. When we hear how Cat runs her team, I tend to think of this as more of a Lone Ranger type setup and wonder why she even has a team. When they are facing the bad guys it’s, ‘okay, I’m going in alone boys. Give me 30 minutes and then come in and clean up anything that is left.’ That is not teamwork! Cat is so cocky in this book. It is a good thing that she finally runs into Bones.

Although we do get into some good fighting scenes with Bones and get to discover some of his newly revealed Master Vampire skills, it is mostly Cat doing all the fighting in this story.

I really wish Cat had a bit more feeling in this story. She seemed like a walkin-talkin-pissed off-s.o.b. through the whole thing.

What about Tavia Gilbert’s performance did you like?

I think Tavia Gilbert did a great job with this book. Each character has a different voice and she does really well keeping them all separate. This is one of those narrators that can make you forget you are listening to just one person and not a whole cast of people.
