Publisher's Summary

Her life is missing the love… When Katelyn “Katie” Morrison attends her brother’s wedding, the glamorous hotel heiress wonders if she’ll ever find “the one”... especially when she sees her sexy-as-sin ex, Dean Prescott. After the nuptials, she’s shocked to discover an infant girl on her doorstep. Deciding to keep the baby until she can locate the mother, Katie doesn’t have the time - or energy - for Dean’s suspicions. But she still can’t shake the longing she feels for him.

While attending his best friend’s wedding, Dean can’t stop staring at Katie’s sinful curves. He swore he’d never repeat the mistake of falling for her. Learning that Katie has a newborn, Dean knows there’s more going on than Katie admits... just as he knows their attraction hasn’t faded. But when he and Katie uncover the identity of the baby’s mother, they may lose their second chance at love.

    "Delightful"

Catherine Bybee's "Not Quite Mine" is a delightful listen, as narrated by Amy McFadden. This is book two in the "Not Quite" Series, and another hit to add to her list, as she continues with the familiar characters of book one, developing more deeply into the lives of Katelyn, Jack's sister and his best friend, Dean.
    Definitely credit worthy! Enjoy!

"Not quite as good as the first one..."

This is a fluffy easy listen. It's ok but not a book I would listen to again. The first one was much better. I guess my issue is that the storyline is too fantastic. Katie is a Paris Hilton type character. She's a spoiled rich party girl who happens to get a baby in her doorstep (yeah right). The baby came with adoption papers and everything! The story of who the parents are, how the baby ended up with Katie and how she wants to quit party and socializing just to take care of the baby is unrealistic. The romance also didn't quite do it for me. This book is good if you get it on a good sale and want an easy listen while on vacation.

    "Ok"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The reason I didn't rate this book more highly might be because I listened to it right after listening to Not Quite Dating. I liked Jessie but I never really grew to like Katie.

Has Not Quite Mine turned you off from other books in this genre?

No it has not. I really like romance based audiobooks and will probably continue in that genre.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Amy McFadden?

I enjoyed Amy McFaddens voice and thought that she represented each character well with subtle differences in the way they spoke.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I liked that Katie was so dedicated to caring for Savannah but the real mothers explanation for giving her up seemed unrealistic.

    Any additional comments?

    No

    "Lovely, Enchanting,Romantic"

I absolutely loved the 2nd novel in the "Not Quite" series. I listened to NOT QUITE MINE almost in one sitting. Bybee hit this novel out of the park. It has all the right ingredients -sizzling unrequited love that just won't simmer down, new family bonds that take sisterhood to a new level, and a mystery baby that, seemingly out of nowhere lands outside of the main characters penthouse suite. There is plenty of drama, steamy flirtation that definitely ends somewhere good. Its all good and I was inspired to pop on one of my Stetsons and pull on a pair of Tony Llamas before I got to the end.

NOTQUITE IS A GREAT SERIES AND BYBEE NEVER DISSAPOINTS. TEAMING WITH AMY McFadden AS NARRATOR IS TRULY A WINNING COMBINATION.

    "Good"

Not Quite mine is a cute second chance romance. It’s book 2 in the Not Quite Series by Catherine Bybee. Following his best friend’s wedding, Dean takes over the role of overprotective male in Katie Morrison’s life. His timing couldn’t be worse, since Katie returns home from the wedding to find a 2 week old baby on her doorstep. She devises a plan to hideout from her family and friends until she finds out the identity of the baby’s mother. However, there’s no hiding from Dean.
I found the premise to be completely implausible. The story is also a tad bit predictable. There was nothing shocking about the trajectory of this story. With that said, the book isn’t bad. It’s still entertaining. Fans of sweet second chance romances will love this. It’s a well written feel good story. The characters are well rounded and fleshed out. The real life situations they deal with are touching. I particularly enjoyed the evolution of Dean and Katie’s relationship.
The audiobook narration was pretty good, with the exception of the southern accents. The pace was great. My steam factor rating is 2/5 and overall rating is 3.25 Stars.

Horrible Narrator with ridiculous accents! She goes from talking snooty to talking way to fast! I won't buy the rest of the series because of this.

    "Touching, Fun, & Light Story"

Not Quite Mine is the 2nd book in the Not Quite series by Catherine Bybee. I read book two before the first book, Not Quite Dating. While you can read each book in the series as a stand alone, I recommend starting with book one first.

Katie Morrison is a pampered, Texas hotel heiress to the Morrison Hotels. She loves tight mini skirts, the spotlight, and has had her share of dates. All of that comes to a screeching halt when a sweet baby girl (Savannah) is left on her doorstep. Katie has been yearning for a baby, and it the abandoned baby girl seems to be a godsend.

Dean Prescott is Katie’s ex, and the lead building contractor for the Morrison Hotels. He has been asked by his best friend, Mike (Katie’s brother) to watch over Katie while he is out of town. Dean knows that something is up with Katie, and he sets out to find out exactly what it is.

I chose to listen to book one first because of the whole ‘baby left on a doorstep’ thing, and blurb sounded good. The story moved along quickly, and there were a few misunderstandings, and a whole lot of fireworks between Dean and Katie. There is a little mystery as to who baby Savannah’s mother is, but I guessed who it was about half way through the book.

I enjoyed this book, and the friendships between Mike, Dean, Katie, and Monica. There was some steam in this book, and the chemistry between Katie and Dean was palpable. I love a story where everyone gets their happy ever after, and this one did. Even though there were a few moments where I thought, ‘tell him already!’ We weren’t kept in the dark too long.

I am not sure how many men in Texas are actually like Dean, but I am sure there are a few. The story was mostly believable, but the wonderful thing about fiction romance is that it can be larger than life.

I wasn’t to sure about the narrator, Amy McFadden, at first, but after listening to the first chapter she grew on me and I realized that she was a perfect choice for this story. She has the Texas drawl down pat.

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a touching, and fun romance read.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Everything about her performance bothered me. I didn't like any of the characters voice, which is a major thing for an audio book.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    NO!

    Any additional comments?

Dean was a jackass, Katie an idiot, and Whatshername, the sister/in-law, was an annoying failed Valley Girl. Oh, this had to be the dumbest story I've listened to.
