RITA Award Winner, Historical Romance, 2014

A rogue ruined...

He is the Killer Duke, accused of murdering Mara Lowe on the eve of her wedding. With no memory of that fateful night, Temple has reigned over the darkest of London's corners for twelve years, wealthy and powerful, but beyond redemption. Until one night, Mara resurfaces, offering the one thing he's dreamed of . . . absolution.

A lady returned . . .

Mara planned never to return to the world from which she'd run, but when her brother falls deep into debt at Temple's exclusive casino, she has no choice but to offer Temple a trade that ends in her returning to society and proving to the world what only she knows...that he is no killer.

A scandal revealed . . .

It's a fine trade, until Temple realizes that the lady and her past are more than they seem. It will take every bit of his strength to resist the pull of this mysterious, maddening woman who seems willing to risk everything for honor...and to keep from putting himself on the line for love.

Fallen Angels WOW!

What made the experience of listening to No Good Duke Goes Unpunished the most enjoyable?

I really like the hero and heroine. They're gorgeous, good and kind, sexy, attractive -- and so flawed and proud. This was an engaging story from start to finish with well drawn characters, a really interesting storyline, enough steamy sex to keep it interesting and integrated into the plot not just thrown in for the heck of it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Temple for his physical attractiveness, kindness, and intelligence. The heroine, Mara, runs a close second. I also really liked Lavender, the piglet, -- a nice touch. I like that I don't feel frustrated with this author about either one or both of them being ninnies about their feelings for each other. Some romance authors take their H/H denial about their feelings too far, causing this reader a high level of frustration for having to deal with what at first seemed to be an attractive, intelligent adult into a seeming half-wit about their mutual attraction. This can result in either a low rating of the story or a return if I can't finish it.

What does Rosalyn Landor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Rosalyn Landor is one the best female historical romance narrator to be found. I look for books she's narrated. Her accents are always so well done, and although there's not a big variation between her male and female characters, I never get confused about the gender. She is five stars for me every time.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I feel good getting in touch with the characters who make this book such an enjoyable story. The scene descriptions make one feel a part of the action. I absolutely fell for Temple. Wow, what a man.

Any additional comments?

This is the third equally entertaining listen in this three (so far) volume series I found the heroes, i.e., "fallen angels,' consistently hot, handsome, sexy, smart and extremely intriguing due to their flaws and strengths and the stories they're in. Pair them with an equally matched heroine, engaging secondary characters; a sense of time and place; and a plot you want to follow to the end through myriad changes and surprises and I'm hooked! I advise reading them in order, but it won't spoil the experience if you don't. I am anxiously awaiting the next volume. PLEASE say there will be another! . This is a credit worthy listen, of course!

Questionable Heroine

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Probably

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Made the heroine stronger.

Which character – as performed by Rosalyn Landor – was your favorite?

No question - Temple!!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not necessarily

Any additional comments?

At first I wanted to return the book because I thought the heroine was so weak and lacked a sense of responsibility. She redeemed herself eventually, but it was too long in coming.

Hooked from the beginning!

I was enthralled from the very beginning. Mara & Temple have AMAZING chemistry...ELECTRIFYING sexual chemistry. Mara is one of the best female characters I have listened to in a long time. I really didn't expect to enjoy Temple's story as much as I did....but I did!

The boys at the orphanage were a such a fun addition to the story. I actually wished they were in it a little more. I laughed out loud a few times. Great supporting characters.

For the first time in a long time - I wasn't positive where the story was heading. That's a great thing because it kept me guessing and trying to figure out all the possible outcomes.

This book was finally a book (in a long string of books) that held my attention throughout and I didn't want to hit pause on.

Great series - but this one is the best!

Oh to go to Temple!

Would you consider the audio edition of No Good Duke Goes Unpunished to be better than the print version?

I can't compare the audio and print versions since I have not read this book but the audio is great. I love this book for its story, romance and flow.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I absolute love Temple. The big man with the big heart.

What does Rosalyn Landor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Rosalyn Landor is a great narrator. She gives such personality to each character that you never have to guess or wait for them to be identified.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The most moving moment of the book for me is Temple's time at the home with the boys.

Any additional comments?

Can't wait to listen to the final book.

Not my favorite 💔

The book was actually ok, but Mara Lowe was annoying the entire book. I disliked her from the beginning. A stupid girl who did something stupid and let someone suffer for 12 years while she hid. Then she has need for money and decides to let him pay for his freedom. Temple is way more forgiving than I! I mean, forgiveness isn’t unheard of, but this girl was a manipulative game player the whole way through the book! Even to the very last, hiding and running away like a spoiled brat. The book was ok but I disliked that character so much that it ruined the whole story.

Rosalyn Landor, as usual, did a fantastic job.

I say unless this is a 2 for 1 sale, pass.

First Thought when Finished: No Good Duke goes Unpunished sealed the deal for me: I need to read more Sarah MacLean!

Book Thoughts: Temple! Temple! Team Temple! If you can't tell I just loved the killer duke to death. He is everything that I expect from my rogueish historical leading men: dastardly, damaged, and a really good friend. I will admit that it took a bit for Mara to prove to me that she was worthy of Temple but boy did she! Her back story was heartbreaking but her gumption was outstanding. Together they made me smile!

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated By Rosalyn Landor/ Length: 12 hrs and 34 mins

Rosalyn is probably one my favorite narrators! I just love her voice and it is perfectly suited for historicals. She just pulls off this series spectacularly well. I totally recommend these on audio!

Final Thoughts: Oh that epilogue *evil grin*

Boring

Disappointed. I did not like the heroine. I could not relate to someone who was such a weakling. The hero was a fool for having anything to do with someone who had played him so dirty. Great narration.

Heroine is THE WORST

Temple did not get the heroine he deserves! She knowingly framed him for years and still displayed selfishness and idiocy throughout the entire story. I saw no reason why he would fall in love with her or why we should root for it! This one was a let down, especially after how great Cross and Pippa’s story was.
