“[A] publishing phenomenon…[Sherrilyn Kenyon is] the reigning queen of the wildly successful paranormal scene. . .Just one example of arguably the most in-demand and prolific authors in America these days.” —Publisher's Weekly

“Kenyon's writing is brisk, ironic, sexy, and relentlessly imaginative. These are not your mother's vampire novels.” —The Boston Globe

Good part of a great series

I have listened to or read most of this series, and resisted this book because of all the negative reviews. I started the series with book 4, Zarek???s story. I must say I don???t really understand all the negative reviews at all. If you are new to the series this is a good start, as it gives a good background on the Dark Hunters, Appolites, and Daimons. This is a fantasy romance and has some steamy love scenes, I wouldn???t call them soft-core porn as some other???s have suggested, but they are descriptive, so if you are not into that in your romance books, maybe this series is not for you. I totally got the instant connection between Kyrian and Amanda they are soul mate. I???ve read enough romance novels to know, when soul mates meet the connection is instant and unexplained, I don???t need some grand gesture to accept it. I liked the narrator, although my favorite narrators of the series are Fred Berman and Holter Graham, I didn???t mind this narrator at all. This is not my favorite of the series, but I did enjoy this offering and I wish I had not let negative reviews deter me for so long.

horrible narration entertaining plot

this one was pretty entertaining if you like Greek mythology I don't really know if I would actually consider this to be a vampire story or not I mean technically I suppose there are creatures that could be considered vampires but I don't know ancient Greek warriors who have fangs so they can emulate their enemy but don't use themalso there were moments when the female lead seriously got on my nerves at first with her completely unrealistic to the situation responses in my personal opinion however if you allow yourself to go further than the first few chapters I believe youll come to feel for Hunter

Great story, terrible narration.

If you could sum up Night Pleasures in three words, what would they be?

Amazing, captivating, seductive.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Night Pleasures?

If I say I'll give away a critical part in the book!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She does HORRIBLE accents. The only time I liked her accent was when she portrayed Amanda. She does a very convincing southern accent. Alas, while that may be her strong point, the narrator made all the females sound the same.

She tried to go for a Greek/Roman accent, but ended up sounding French and sometimes even Asian. It was so bad that I almost couldn't listen, but as I have never read the series in it's entirety, I finished it.

Once I was able to tune out her horrible narration, the story was quite wonderful, as are all of Sherilynn's books.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Unfortunately no, the narration was one I could only take in small bursts.

Any additional comments?

I accidentally stumbled upon the DH series back in 2008. I read Acheron, not realizing it was part of a series. I loved that book even though it broke my heart. Fast forward to a few years later when I started listening to Audible. I downloaded Acheron and fell in love all over again, not just with the story, but the narrator. That is when I discovered the entire series, and set it upon myself to listen to all of them. I don't have to time read books right now, and my audio books really help get me through the day.

I will say I can't wait to hear Fred's narration starting in book 3. He did an amazing job with Styxx, so I have a feeling I'll be listening to a lot of books in one sitting.

Bad narator and Cajun is the correct accent

Solid book and well made. The book it self seems well written so that's why your getting 3 stars. I did manage to
eventually tune out the horrible voice acting after a couple of hours in and enjoy the story. If I hadn't read Chronicles of Nick, then I wouldn't understand nicks purpose for being in the book. There should have been some back story on Nick to make this a stronger story. I will point out that Chronicles of nick is preachy in parts about how a boy should treat his mom. Although Chronicles of Nick is more young adult. Sooooooooooo what I am geting at is that those are better books that with a few fast forwards it wont make your ears bleed.

About the narrator
Why doesn't the dark hunter novels have the narrator from chronicles of nick? It needs a remake!!!!!!!!
This really should be read by this other narrator who did a good job.

Narrator

I absolutely love the story, but I cannot get passed the narrator. She made Amanda sound so whiny, it was a tad bit annoying.

Night Pleasures is amazing!

I loved the story, Mrs Kenyon makes great stories that will take you on an adventure. However I did like the voice Ms Macduffie. Her voice was annoying. I really enjoy the male readers Mrs Kenyon chose for her other books.

Like nails on a chalkboard!

I love the story, but the narrator is horrible. I had to force myself to finish listening to it. The accents she uses are just dreadful, and don’t fit the characters at all.
