Caelen McCabe's young, reckless heart nearly destroyed his clan. Now, putting family loyalty above all else, he steps up to marry his older brother's jilted bride and salvage the uneasy alliance between two clans. While beautiful Rionna McDonald is a fit wife for any man, Caelen trusts no woman, especially not this sweet temptress who torments him with white-hot longing.
As the sacrificial lamb in her father's power game, Rionna will do her duty but vows to protect her heart and her pride from humiliation. Despite everything, though, the heat in Caelen's touch melts her defenses, and she craves the sensual delights of a husband who guards his emotions as fiercely as his clan. But when the ultimate battle for the McCabe legacy is upon them, Rionna's true warrior spirit emerges. She will risk the wrath of her father, the fury of her enemies, and her life to prove to Caelen that his wife's love is too precious to lose.

"Banks nicely balances bedroom and battlefield action as Rionnas tough swordsmanship and Caelens tender lust propel the couple and the clans toward harmony." (Publishers Weekly)
No spoilers! Love HOT, sexy books w/a plot. No vampires, paranormal, teens 4 me. I also review in exchange for books-lots of fun surprises!
Yes, it's a good listen-great story.
Caelen...he is a manly warrior! What's not to love?
When Caelen & Rionna finally agree on the news they receive regarding an heir near the end of the book.
Sure-when I read/listen I usually want to!
"Tis the truth" seemed to be used in almost every other exchange...aaargg! The underlying feminism was annoying too.
Great series; read them in order...my favorites go in order Book 2, Book 1 and finally this one!
Near the top.... definitely on my list to listen to again one day.
Wow.... too many...
Perfection as always. I can see the characters in her voice and that says a lot.
Yes... I almost did actually! If it weren't for needing sleep I think I would have too...
The transition between each book of this trilogy is totally seamless... I am very impressed. There wasn't a ridiculous amount of back story yet you never had to wonder what was happening. I recommend all three of the McCabes trilogy... in order. Well worth the credits or dollars!
Professional female with little time for the fun things (cooking, reading and traveling)!
If you don't like somewhat graphic sex in your romance novels you won't like Maya Banks. This story is well-told. Kirsten Potter brought it alive and made the heroine believable and likable. Well, I am a sucker for the accent! This story interestingly seemed to be more realistic in terms of the lengths to which men will go to attain power; maybe not just men. But this story is about clan politics and character, or the lack thereof. I recommend it with the aforementioned caveat.
No I skipped several scenes. It just becomes porn after a while.
The plot and the attraction of the hero and heroine
I like the scene where he accepted her strength and ability to be a warrior.

I wish this author and publisher would write for those of us who don't need porn. I bet it's the publisher that has insisted on the details because they know porn is addictive. I do think the writer is extremely talented and doesn't need addiction to sell her books.
It was a great end to the series.
Kaelin and Kiely were of course my favorite characters. We already know and love them from the first two books so it was easy to hope for their happily ever after.
I listened to to all three books and this one was every bit as good as the others.
I loved the last battle scene of the book.
It was a great book, I'm looking forward to the rest of the series
I really couldn't choose just one.....
As always Kirsten Potter did a great job with the narration
Yes, it's a hard one to put down
Great book, Great listen. I really like this series. The story has the most important highland hero, but also love, laughter and some suspense. All wrapped up it made for a great series. Sex scenes were a little to explicit for my taste but otherwise good listen.
A strong woman in an Highland setting fighting with a sword, upsetting the men around her. What a gal.
"Never Love a Highlander" by Maya Banks was as always a wonderful read. This novel was a conclusion to a wonderful trilogy that only this author..Maya Banks can deliver. The novel was of a 'Scottish' historical romance of the McCabe trilogy. What would become of Caelen and Rionna as he takes over the McDonald Clan...where there had been a marriage out of the sense of duty...returns to take over the McDonald clan. Ms. Banks offers us a relationship between Caelen and Rionna only causing this to be a very hot, steamy and sexual read...all the characters were so very strong and well developed that would only keep the reader on the edge of their seat. You will find from the read that this hero and heroine both "had been wounded deeply by their pass and nothing could heal it but only each other." Now, for you to found out how this will play out you must pick up "Never Love a Highlander" to find out just what Ms. Banks has in store for the reader. I felt this novel flowed very well...especially with it being the last of this series...being very interesting and even suspenseful. Be ready for a novel presenting..."romance, betrayal, a bit of mystery" and a over all excellent read.
If you are looking for a 'McCabe Series' that only Ms. Banks can give us... you have come to the right place and yes I would recommend "Never Love a Highlander" as a excellent read.
Love a story w/ humor,romance,adventure, w/out a lot of bickering,& good deals.
Maya Banks has grown as a quality author in this series. There is more substance in the plots. In this book the heroine is a strong woman, as in the others, but she also has learned to wield a sword to have an even stronger sense of ability to protect herself. This creates a dilemma for the hero. Does he accept a woman who can fight or try to fashion her into the image of the one who needs his protection?
It is worked out well in the story. There is of course romance, some suspense, a touch of humor, and action. It keeps your interest making you want to continue listening. I recommend this book to all who enjoy Highland romance.
Overall rating 4.5, it shows as 5 because you can't give 1/2 stars.
