Former bad girl Katie Stone can feel the weight of her reputation settle over her as she drives home for the first time in years. Feeling deeply guilty about her past mistakes, Katie wants to do the right thing for once. But the small town where she grew up is not nearly as forgiving as she'd hoped. Despite it all, she's determined to help her parents cope with her mother's recent illness, and Katie finds a surprise ally in the man next door.
Asher Powell never minded being the son of a small-town pastor until a recent breakup leaves him wounded by lifelong members of his church. He remembers his new neighbor as a mean-spirited high school troublemaker, but he senses that her newfound faith and desire for forgiveness are sincere.
Through an unexpected friendship, two people from different worlds find peace, hope, and a second chance they never dreamed was possible.

This is a beautiful story of love a redemption. The story of Katie, and Asher, who find each other at a time where they both realize that We can't find forgiveness without forgiving ourselves first. Through their faith they find love and they learn that our past is not a chain holding us back, but what forges our future.
This is an amazing book with outstanding characters and beautiful storyline of pain forgiveness and redemption and true love it's not a quick fix but anything worth having is worth working on.
Well, I am actually a bit intimidated to try to put into words how amazing this book was. It was so beautiful, so heart-wrenching, so true, so sad & yet so joyful, so filled with hopelessness and yet so ultimately hopeful...it was everything that REAL life is. It is about the journey so many of us have made from being lost and hopeless and confused about what love really is to finding TRUE HOPE & TRUE LOVE - mostly in HIM from whom real hope & love comes, but ultimately how that is worked out on a day-to-day basis with the people around us and how REAL love (1 Cor 13 kind of love) usually only becomes a part of our daily give & take after the trials and beatings of life break us and humble us enough for us to become truly new. This book made me realize, once again, that it is everything in my life - past & present, good & bad - that have together made me who I am...and how this is true for everyone I meet. Asher - oh my goodness - what a representative of the love and grace of God he is for Katie - while still being wholly human and struggling with his own temptations. And Katie - my heart actually hurts to think of the beauty of her rescue from herself and her guilt. This is a book of so much grace and beauty and true love that I stayed up most of the night reading and crying frequently. I dare anyone to read this book and not thrill at the hope of a redeemed life for each of us and for those we dare to truly love. (I initially read the ebook version as I was given an early copy for an honest review . . . but I immediately bought this Audible version and couldn't wait for its release.)
My hope is that perhaps Chad and Laila will have their own story to share and possibly even Conner.
