Good Read

I liked the book but did find that it dragged at places. I'd subconciously be thinking well get on with it. But this didn't happen so often so it wasn't that much of a problem. Overall I did enjoy the book. But wasn't the rivoting read I was looking for.

Yes, this was so good.

What was one of the most memorable moments of More than a Mistress?

There are so many memorable moments. I love it when Duke of Tresham noticed how beautiful Jane was even when she was playing a role as a servant and all covered up. That was so sweet. I love the moment when he started to open up to Jane. I mean, the whole book is just memorable.

Which character – as performed by Rosalyn Landor – was your favorite?

Rosalyn Landor is my favorite narrator. All the characters are well narrated.

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this book! I was up sooooo late listening to this. I couldn't put it down. I had to force myself to stop.

Different Than I Usually Read, but Very Good

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this book even though I'm not really into romance novels. It helped that it was written in a different era. So if you like romance novels set in historical times, you'll enjoy this. Well written.

Great Love Story

What did you love best about More than a Mistress?

I liked that although it was a typical love story it wasn't 100% predictable.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that the main female character did not cower despite how intimidating the main male was.

It made me laugh a couple of times unexpectedly.

The intimate scenes involving the mistress are not extremely explicit but the subject matter is not boring or timid either.

Where does More than a Mistress rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would say I would rack this at 4, it does get dry in some parts but then again it is a page turner/

Second in the series

Angeline’s wedding is already a fait accompli in this book - this should have been the second in the series. It was kind of dark - a little humor, comic relief would have been nice.

Good Story

I have read this story twice. I was able to follow the narration from beginning to end, although OI did not like the narrator.

Balogh lover but not in love with this one.

I am a definite Mary Balogh fan and have read most of her books, several multiple times, and this is one I’ve read before and enjoyed the listen. I didn’t relish every minute like I have with many of her books and actually skipped ahead to the last several chapters from about 30%. I would usually defend all the build up and ruminating because it helps develop both the characters and the plot, but since I had read it before I was more interested in the climax and the HEA. Once again I got more out of it this time around, well the parts I read, and enjoyed the twists at the end immensely. Not a 5, but still worth a credit or a read.

Formulaic and unoriginal. Difficult to get though

I truly enjoyed this book. Rosalyn Landor is an excellent narrator. I liked this book so much I actually downloaded the second one and am, yes going to download the third. If you like good romance and a good story I definitely recommend this series.
