Publisher's summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts surpasses herself once again, with a novel as sweeping and extraordinary as the Montana sky itself....

When Jack Mercy died, he left behind a ranch worth nearly twenty million dollars. Now his three daughters - each born of a different mother, and each unknown by the others - are gathered to hear the reading of the will. But the women are shocked to learn that before any of them can inherit, they must live together on the ranch for one year.

For Tess, a screenwriter who just wants to collect her cash and get back to Hollywood, it’s a nightmare. For Lily, on the run from her abusive ex-husband, it’s a refuge. And for Willa - who grew up on the ranch - it’s an intrusion into her rightful home.

They are sisters...and strangers. Now they face a challenge: to put their bitterness aside and live like a family. To protect each other from danger - and unite against an enemy who threatens to destroy them all...

Critic reviews

"Roberts balances the tension and sometimes gruesome action with three romances, crackling dialogue and a snappy infusion of humor." ( Publishers Weekly)
"All six of the major characters are wonderfully written, with just the right touch of genuineness, warmth, and distinctiveness to make readers emotionally invest in their stories." ( Library Journal)

A hard listen

I had a hard time with the narrator's switching of voices. The story was great, but multiple narrators would send this over the top.

Suspenseful, steamy, what you want in a romance

Probably my favourite Nora Roberts to date. I like the way there was a little twist to this, where what you think you know, isn't. Great character build-up and I loved the description of Montana as I've never been anywhere near Midwest or out West and I loved hearing about it

Definitely worth listening!

The story of family and love and the many complications of both. Only thing I didn’t understand was how the narrator used a southern accent. This was Montana not Alabama. Also at times difficult to determine whether the character speaking was male or female. It was a good story with a predictable ending but I still enjoyed it.

Too explicit

I’ve read other Nora Robert’s books, don’t remember the sexual encounters with so much detail. I really like to have the ability to use my imagination! It was fun to get to know each of the characters and the surprise of who did what at the end!
