Publisher's summary

In this next searing tale of the Immortals After Dark series, number-one New York Times best-selling author Kresley Cole delves deeper into the mysterious Clan MacRieve, a family tormented by ancient agonies and forbidden wolven hungers.

Uilleam MacRieve, a centuries-old Lykae warrior, was captured, caged, and experimented on by a shadowy human order, along with other immortals. During a prison break that devolved into one of the bloodiest massacres in recent history, he escapes. But the aftermath of his unspeakable torture preys on his damaged mind, while the wolf inside him roars for vengeance and carnage. In the days leading up to the full moon, can MacRieve rein in his beast, even when he encounters his mate - a vexingly impossible female unlike anything he'd ever dreamed for himself?

Hot Lycan Lovefest

Kresley Cole does it again and Robert Petkoff is so fabulous. If your a fan then you know what I mean. If not, then start from book 1 and enjoy the ride. I will say this book is more about the hot sexy romance instead of the fights against the bad guys. It's good to have a romance break and this book is so worth the credit.

A very good book in an excellent series.

Where does Macrieve rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The book, like it predecessors is a fast-paced, action packed, with hot and steamy love'n fantasy style. However, for me this book was lacking, or, more like it was too much. Kresley Cole's writing is very entertaining and also very formulaic. She is queen of: hero screws up relationship to near point-of-no-return, but in the end overcomes past traumas to win over the fated mate. Which is good, we love the HEA. But there can be only so much trauma and misery, else you just grow to dislike the main characters or stop connecting with them. That is what happened for me with this book. I understand Cole's need to switch things up, hence the relationship starts off too well and collapses shortly after. It was so much of a roller coaster, I started to lose patience with the characters. Also, I do enjoy the lingo and jargon associated with the character's personality, ie. the hipster or surfer, and yet this book was way to much on the sports analogies. I liked it, but I feel Shadow's Claim has been better than Lothaire and Macrieve.

What does Robert Petkoff bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Robert Petkoff rocks this series.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, usually I do. But this book I had to break it up.

Best of the IAD series so far!

If you could sum up Macrieve in three words, what would they be?

Funny, heartbreaking, exciting

What was one of the most memorable moments of Macrieve?

Too many to mention. Kresley Cole did an amazing job from start to finish, and the characters were the most believable and lovable in the whole series in my opinion. Chloe's fierceness had me in stitches many times particularly in face of Macrieve's "brutality" - perfect match! Chloe sending the soccer balls flying into his head and his... - so hilarious!

Have you listened to any of Robert Petkoff’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I often cringe at Robert Petkoff's female voices, but he was excellent this time as Chloe!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Macrieve's story is a heartbreaking one and when he finally opened up to Chloe... I was very moved.

Favorite in the series so far

Any additional comments?

An intense story about an abused Lykae carrying grief and guilt for centuries and a driven, caring, soccer playing human turned succubus. This story is heart wrenching and tear producing but the sassy snark, storyline, and likable characters balance out the sadness. This was a truly enjoyable story and I can honestly say Chloe is my favorite character in the entire series. Robert Petkoff did a great job narrating as always.

Macrieve.. Yes please!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! Great read and great story. Characters are well developed and you can't put the book down once you start! Very hot!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chloe.. strong female. I love that she is a tomboy yet also very feminine, and she is anything but helpless.

What does Robert Petkoff bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He brings the story 'to life'... he manages it really well.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Hot and Hotter!

Any additional comments?
