Publisher's summary

Lindsay Willows craves a simple life. One where she can make a difference without drawing too much attention to herself. As the daughter of both a vampire and a fay, the cards were already stacked against her. Finding out she's the supposed mate of a dark fay prince doesn't help matters - especially when there are those who will stop at nothing to prevent her from mating with a prince she's never even met.

When Exavier Kedmen, the incredibly sexy front man for a world-famous band, shows up wanting her to go back to a field she left three years ago, she can't explain the strong feelings that surface for a man she barely knows. Lindsay finds herself confronting demons from her past, coming to terms with the ones in the present and finally looking forward to a future with the man she was created for. And she discovers evil doesn't care who it hurts to obtain its goals but even the evilest of things fear something, or in the case of Exavier, someone.

WARNING: This book contains hot, explicit sex and violence explained with contemporary, graphic language.

Good and Yet.....

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I just don't know.

Would you recommend Loup Garou to your friends? Why or why not?

I don't know if I would recommend this to a friend. Honestly, as I listened, I had a fight with myself about why I continued to listen. The dialogue was stilted and written so formally, that it made many of the characters wooden. But there were moments when it was great. Knowing that this was the first book, I feel as though there's a possibility the writer might get better, or at least get an editor that has a clue. The premise behind the story could have been great, but the telling of it, and the frustration from the utter stupidity of the lead female made it hard for me to want to get the second book to see if it gets any better. I think I'll need to take some time before I'm willing to give more money to see how this turns out.

Any additional comments?

I did think the actress that read the book was great. She managed to work her way through some truly awful dialogue and still not make me hate her. So, that counts for a lot in my book.

4 star

Overall the story is good, liked the characters and loved the humour. My only issue was with the narration. Had a hard time with some of the different voices especially Xavier who was the lead male. But definitely good overall.

Loup Garou - Amazing Story

Lindsay Willows is a strong, amazing woman. 3 years ago she was attacked and lost something very important to her. That attack forever changed her life and she has been "hiding" since. We start this story with another attempt on her life. She has killed a few were-panthers but she knows there are more out there. Every shifter, vampire and bad guy wants her to give over her mate the Prince. She has no idea who her mate is but it is really starting to make her mad. She wakes up the next morning, not knowing how she got to her bed, but at work she hears Exavier Kedmen wants her to choreograph his tour and music video. As soon as she meets him, she is instantly attracted to him. He reminds her of a childhood friend she knew. She spends the day with him, thinking he is human, and has to fend off multiple attacks on her person. There are many twists and turns in the story and action. I loved it and Rachel Vivette did an amazing job portraying all of the different characters.

could not listen to any more of this book

Have you ever met someone that just grated on your nerves? The characters of this book grated on mine. While the characters interacted well with eachother, they seemed to exhibit a distinct lack of higher reasoning skills. In short I would love these characters in small doses, they were funny after all. But I could not stand another minute of them getting sidetracked from life and death situations and not seeing threw obvious falsehoods. About an hour into this audio I started skipping threw sections but the bad decisions just kept coming. Finally I quit.

The narration was good. The voice seemed to bring the characters to life. Pleasant to listen to at first, but as I grew to dislike the characters the voice seemed to grate on me too. lol. I would listen to the narrator again in another book.

If Only There Were Negative Stars

I cannot begin to count the ways of how terrible this is. I cannot think of one redeeming quality. I am going to have to think real hard before I buy another romance novel. I don't know what I was thinking anyway.

Couldn't finish this tripe

Just so bad, the perspective, the premise, the characters, kind of everything. Wish I'd started listening to it in 30 days so I could return it. Couldn't finish it, so I recommend you don't start it, bleh.

See Kanibari's Review, spot on

Would you try another book from Mandy M. Roth and/or Rachel Vivette?

Absolutely not from either.
note: if you are a fan of this author, then this had a good outline/story. Dialogue was ok when humor was used, but the editing was awful. Almost self published material.
note: I did use the new 1.25x speed, but that didn't help much.

What could Mandy M. Roth have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I am not an editor and writing is hard work, but I have over 400 reads, most romances and for the last year Scott Bricks' mysteries so I have a fair idea what makes an excellent read on erotic and paranormal. Outline was good, but dialogue needed so much work. You can appreciate a good romance writer. See reader Angela Dawes, paranormal series with cubs and paws.

What didn’t you like about Rachel Vivette’s performance?

reader AKA, Kate Rudd, and Stella Bloom. As other reviewer stated, reader tries to perform and misses and she does sound like she finished diction lessons and is practicing on reads.
If I had listened to this read when I first purchased, I would have known the other AKA reads, which I don't like either. Male voice is not bad and is growing on me, but overall performance and cadence gets on my nerves. I have 6 reads combined AKA, and I rather read and listen.
Reader has good potential, and she may greatly improve, e.g. Tanya Eby and Angela Dawe, who both have gone on to great reads.
I wish this reader good luck as she has gotten read contracts to some all time great classics that I will not buy e.g. Nora Roberts earlier romance classic series.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Outline was good but author didn't know which area to flesh out more e.g. hero's mother's role. Author chose to get a bit too mushy and not concentrate on the core story/outline. You have to have a good plot. If this was erotica, then author needs to read some good work, and there's plenty to model after. Some of the characters e.g. Ian were good, but he come in the few last chapters.
