Publisher's summary

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Kresley Cole continues her electrifying Immortals After Dark series with this thrilling tale, revealing secrets of the Lore, fierce realm of the immortals....

All fear the enemy of old.

Driven by his insatiable need for revenge, Lothaire, the Lore’s most ruthless vampire, plots to seize the Horde’s crown. But bloodlust and torture have left him on the brink of madness - until he finds Elizabeth Peirce, the key to his victory. He captures the unique young mortal, intending to offer up her very soul in exchange for power, yet Elizabeth soothes his tormented mind and awakens within him emotions Lothaire believed he could no longer experience.

A deadly force dwells within her.

Growing up in desperate poverty, Ellie Peirce yearned for a better life, never imagining she’d be convicted of murder - or that an evil immortal would abduct her from death row. But Lothaire is no savior, as he himself plans to sacrifice Ellie in one month’s time. And yet the vampire seems to ache for her touch, showering her with wealth and sexual pleasure. In a bid to save her soul, Ellie surrenders her body to the wicked vampire, while vowing to protect her heart.

Centuries of cold indifference shattered.

Elizabeth tempts Lothaire beyond reason, as only his fated mate could. As the month draws to a close, he must choose between a millennia-old blood vendetta and his irresistible prisoner. Will Lothaire succumb to the miseries of his past - or risk everything for a future with her?

Love and hate

I really love this series. And, I think we all know that some characters are difficult to put on paper. Lothaire is a villain who you love to hate. What I really loved in this book was the growth that he gained. He was finally able to put someone else's needs before his own and to feel remorse for his actions. That being said, there was a great deal that all I thought was it was just wrong. It's a great book. Lots of misunderstanding and some Stockholm syndrome. LoL.

Lothaire is my Favorite!!!

If you could sum up Lothaire: Immortals After Dark, Book 12 in three words, what would they be?

You either love or Hate him...... He will do what needs to be done and say what you don't want to hear. But as rough as he is.... he manages to have a soft spot for his woman and she is tuff in her own way and will not take his crap. Just got to LOVE it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Lothaire: Immortals After Dark, Book 12?

When she cuts of his head.

Have you listened to any of Robert Petkoff’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was great as usual

Any additional comments?

My favorite of the IAD series

Any additional comments?

Possibly my favorite book ever! I have listened to it over and over again. Ellie Ann Pierce is my type of lead female. She is sassy, smart and resiliant. She doesn't take s@#t from anybody! Lothaire needed a female who could give as good as she got. As ever the writing was fierce and the narration was perfection!! LOVE IT!!

Must Read, 5 Star Series!!

My third or fourth re-read, this time in audio, I truly love each addition to this series! Kresley Cole has created an amazing paranormal world that you just want to escape into! Lothaire is one of my favorites, so tortured and on the edge of madness. Ellie completely cracks me up and is a perfect opposite for Lothaire!
Excellent audio narration!!

One of my Favorite Series

Where does Lothaire rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Very High

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
SPOILER ALERT!!!

When Ely saved Lothaire who found himself trapped an dying from trying to save her family from a clasped mine.

Any additional comments?
First I have to say Robert Petkoff is phenomenal. Kresley Cole's IAD series is amazing and Robert Petkoff is like butter cream frosting on the cake. The both of them have create a Sci-Fiction romance that draw me in. Lothaire is one of my favorite books in the IAD series next to "Demon from the Dark". Lothaire is a complete jerk (and that's putting it nicely), but I still found myself rooting for him. Lothaire is the ultimate bad boy! He is tall, angelically beautiful, smart, accented, and dangerous, but all he wants is his bride and is confused to which woman is his. If you enjoyed IAD thus far you will love Lothaire.

Wonderful job

What made the experience of listening to Lothaire the most enjoyable?

Just as the book did - this audio made me crack up at times. I think I've listened to the last chapter and epilogue about a half dozen times.

What about Robert Petkoff’s performance did you like?

Robert Petkoff did a wonderful job with Lothaire - loved the accent and emotion he put into it. He also did well with portraying a character that is losing his grip on his mind. Having read the book prior to getting the audio I was well pleased with this audio.

Great story with a FANTASTIC narrator!

This is not Longfellow- but it's entertaining and anyone who enjoys the genre will get what they are seeking in Kresley Cole's work. For the uninitiated- this series includes graphic sex and some violence but not to excess. The sex and violence are simply elements of the story arch and are by no means the focus. There is a good degree of character development without overburdening the reader with useless detail. The humor is non formulaic and well suited to compliment each character making each personality distinct from one another. Of particular note is the fact that the female protag is not a simpering air head incapable of making rational decisions. In fact, to date all the female characters I have encountered in this series have considerable backbone to compliment their femininity rather than stand in contrast to it.

Robert Petkoff's narration is fantastic. He brings all the characters out individually and negotiates accents with a great deal of aplomb- especially Lothaire's. He reads females without sounding ridiculous and makes clear distinctions between characters and personalities in a way that sounds and feels effortless to the listener. He is now one of my favorite narrators and I will actively seek more work recorded by him.

Overall it was well written, well read and well produced.

PERFECTION!

What made the experience of listening to Lothaire the most enjoyable?

This book was amazing from the get go, and does not lose steam until the very last page. But what made this book perfect was the narration. Petkoff brings the story to life! This is the most listened to book out of all my audiobooks. I never get tired of listening to it...ever!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Lothaire?

The Prologue of the book and all the scenes between Lothaire and Ellie, ofcourse.

Which character – as performed by Robert Petkoff – was your favorite?

Definitely Lothaire!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

That whole scene between Lothaire and Nix. Amazing!!

Lothaire: "Just tell me...tell me what I should have done differently to make her love me?!?"
Nix: "oh, where to begin....."
Lothaire: "**** OFF!"

Haha...

Any additional comments?

I have enjoyed all the IAD books, but this one has to be the best out of all of them, but I have to say Dreams of a Dark Warrior is a really close second. And because of Robert Petkoff, I can't wait for all of them to come out on audio! Please hurry!
