Publisher's summary

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Kresley Cole continues her electrifying Immortals After Dark series with this thrilling tale, revealing secrets of the Lore, fierce realm of the immortals....

All fear the enemy of old.

Driven by his insatiable need for revenge, Lothaire, the Lore’s most ruthless vampire, plots to seize the Horde’s crown. But bloodlust and torture have left him on the brink of madness - until he finds Elizabeth Peirce, the key to his victory. He captures the unique young mortal, intending to offer up her very soul in exchange for power, yet Elizabeth soothes his tormented mind and awakens within him emotions Lothaire believed he could no longer experience.

A deadly force dwells within her.

Growing up in desperate poverty, Ellie Peirce yearned for a better life, never imagining she’d be convicted of murder - or that an evil immortal would abduct her from death row. But Lothaire is no savior, as he himself plans to sacrifice Ellie in one month’s time. And yet the vampire seems to ache for her touch, showering her with wealth and sexual pleasure. In a bid to save her soul, Ellie surrenders her body to the wicked vampire, while vowing to protect her heart.

Centuries of cold indifference shattered.

Elizabeth tempts Lothaire beyond reason, as only his fated mate could. As the month draws to a close, he must choose between a millennia-old blood vendetta and his irresistible prisoner. Will Lothaire succumb to the miseries of his past - or risk everything for a future with her?

I love this book.

If you could sum up Lothaire in three words, what would they be?

Sexy, funny at time's and demanding.

What other book might you compare Lothaire to and why?

None I love romances book but they all seem to be the same, but not this one. I didn't know what was going to happen.

What does Robert Petkoff bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A great narrators. I love that accent.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

All in all Lathaire having things his way.

Any additional comments?

I'm going to buy all Cole book.

I like the full series

I still really liked this book, but I had higher expectations. I read raving reviews about this book and almost skipped all the ones before just to read it, but alas decided to read them in order and had been excitedly awaiting this one! I found LEO such an interesting character, but in the end I felt like Ellie was just such a push over. Little backbone I dunno, I just didn’t like her as much. I didn’t like their dynamic as much and felt like the ending was a little rushed and that LEO did not repent enough for how terrible he had been to Ellie. A lot of reviews I read said they felt this way about the last book with Deco and Regin, but I felt it way more with this one.

Either which way I still really liked it over all.

The female lead isn't my favorite

Kresley Cole is a talented writer, I love this series dearly, but this book just wasn't my favorite. It's more of a personal taste, but the female lead in this one is hard to attach to as a whole. The writing is great and the performance is amazing...just don't love the female lead.

heroine's voice got on my last nerve!

I loved this story. I loved Lothaire. Obviously, some of his actions would be unacceptable if he was human, but he's not. He's thousands of years old and a product of harsh conditions and centuries of living in the lore. Expecting him to act like a man would be foolish. Mild SPOILER ahead! And yet, our heroine, after she had gotten over her fear of him, did just that. But I still loved the book.

The biggest problem, and one I have to attribute equally to KC and the narrator, is her accent. More mild SPOILERS ahead. Even though Elizabeth spent 5 years in prison where most of the folks she probably encountered were not backwoods mountain folks and she earned a college degree, she continued to talk like she'd just walked off her mountain. This was compounded by the fact that the narrator made her sound like a 14 year old boy. I cringed at her voice through the entire story. But the narrator did an excellent job on all the other voices and I loved his voice for Lothaire. I noticed another reviewer said she had to quit listening the voice was so bad. I almost did a few times, but I'm glad I persisted because later the accent eased sometimes and I still loved the book. I doubt I will ever listen to it again, as I do other books.

I hope Audible get more of KC's books in this series.

KC is One of my favorite authors

Would you consider the audio edition of Lothaire to be better than the print version?

Some authors paint there heroes as dark or dangerous or both. When you start to read the book you find that they have changed and now are much nicer.
Not in this case Lothaire is a very dark guy.

I can always count on Kresley Cole, Christine Freehan and J R ward to give me what I'm looking for. Lothaire is just that kind of hero (dark and dangerous). This book had a great story line and the narrator was excellent Robert Petkoff.

Awesome story

This was a great story. Robert does a fantastic job narrating. his voices for each character is phenomenal. he puts emotion into his voice and makes the story come to life. Kresley Cole has created a wonderful world of characters that you can't get enough of. Each one so unique and you can't help but live them all.
