Publisher's summary

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Kresley Cole continues her electrifying Immortals After Dark series with this thrilling tale, revealing secrets of the Lore, fierce realm of the immortals....

All fear the enemy of old.

Driven by his insatiable need for revenge, Lothaire, the Lore’s most ruthless vampire, plots to seize the Horde’s crown. But bloodlust and torture have left him on the brink of madness - until he finds Elizabeth Peirce, the key to his victory. He captures the unique young mortal, intending to offer up her very soul in exchange for power, yet Elizabeth soothes his tormented mind and awakens within him emotions Lothaire believed he could no longer experience.

A deadly force dwells within her.

Growing up in desperate poverty, Ellie Peirce yearned for a better life, never imagining she’d be convicted of murder - or that an evil immortal would abduct her from death row. But Lothaire is no savior, as he himself plans to sacrifice Ellie in one month’s time. And yet the vampire seems to ache for her touch, showering her with wealth and sexual pleasure. In a bid to save her soul, Ellie surrenders her body to the wicked vampire, while vowing to protect her heart.

Centuries of cold indifference shattered.

Elizabeth tempts Lothaire beyond reason, as only his fated mate could. As the month draws to a close, he must choose between a millennia-old blood vendetta and his irresistible prisoner. Will Lothaire succumb to the miseries of his past - or risk everything for a future with her?

awesome story but horrible accent for Lothaire

Would you consider the audio edition of Lothaire: Immortals After Dark, Book 12 to be better than the print version?

i feel the print would have been a better option for this humble reader due to the fact that I feel Robert Petkoff didn't use an accent that matched how i imagined Lothaire to be like. and Elizabeth was no better nor any other of the cross over characters from the series.

What other book might you compare Lothaire: Immortals After Dark, Book 12 to and why?

perhaps Christine Feehan's Dark series and J.R.R. Wards Black dagger brotherhood's series. they all share similar attributes to how ones "mates" are concerned. (that is also a friendly recommendation to check those series out if you haven't yet and you enjoy the immortals after dark series)

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Robert Petkoff?

hard to say but for sure not Robert Petkoff!!! he didn't bring anything to the table as far as the infamous Lothaire was concerned.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have devoured this book in one sitting if i could have despite the voice of Robert Petkoff being bad the story itself was really good.

Any additional comments?

I was really disturbed that Robert Petkoff sounded like he was acting out the passion scenes between Lothaire and Elizabeth and not just reading them. he took it to a level it shouldn't have been brought to in my humble opinion that is all .

A unique story worth listening to...

Would you listen to Lothaire again? Why?

Yes. The story is surprisingly unique. I like the fact that the author explains the backstory of the main characters, it helps listeners understand were the characters are coming from-- their motivations, beliefs and actions.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes- but it is too long to do so...

Any additional comments?

I like the story -- it's not predictable and the author is very good at story telling, It's easy to get lost in the story, and it keeps the listener wondering what will happen next.

Wow

I read this book under recommendation and I’m glad I did. You could read this book and be satisfied with reading, well listening to, it alone. You’ll find yourself wanting to know what happens next, wanting to slap Lothaire for his ignorance and laughing at Elizabeth’s smart rebuttals all while rooting her a long.

My complements also go to the narrator, Robert Petkoff, the level of professionalism needed to read this without a giggle or smile in his voice when not needed is extremely high. His voice for Elizabeth is golden and I wouldn’t have enjoyed this book as much as I did without his dedication to the narration.
