One lucky woman…three sexy cowboys…she's in for the ride of her life!

Channing Kinkaid itches for a change; a wild western adventure with an untamed man. Determined to shed her inhibitions and embrace the steamier, seamier side of life, she sets her sights on hooking up with a real chaps-and-spurs-wearing cowboy. Enter Colby McKay - bull rider, saddle bronc buster and calf roper. From the moment he sets lust-filled eyes on the sweet and fiery Channing, he knows he's found the woman who's up to the challenge of cutting loose. What rough and rowdy cowboy could resist a no-holds-barred sexual romp with a sassy young thing starring as his personal buckle bunny?

Intrigued by Channing's bold proposition of horsing around on the road, Colby impulsively sweetens the deal; sexual escapades not only in his bed, but in the bedrolls of his rodeo traveling partners, Trevor and Edgard. Although Channing's secretly longed to be the sole focus of more than one man's passions, Colby's demand for complete submission behind closed doors will test her willful nature. Can Channing give up total control? Especially when not all is as it seems with the sexy trio? Or will the cowboys have to break out the bullropes and piggin' string to break in this headstrong filly?

I've got my Ropes, Spurs and Hat out plus just packed my Saddle bags, so I'm ready for action.... And Boy did i get it with this book. I really, really like this series.

At the start of this book Channing has basically run away from the pre-planned life that her parents have set up for her. Channing’s idea of adventure is chasing the rodeo and it turns out that Channing’s first traveling partner is a slime ball. Enter our white knight, Colby McKay and his traveling partner’s Trevor Glanzer and Edgar Mancuso. Colby offer’s Channing the adventure that she’s been looking for and Channing, how is completely attracted to Colby, can’t help but jump at the chance.

What really attracted me to this book was that everything wasn’t what it seemed with a couple of the characters. That and Colby McKay is a total Alpha male with a practically insatiable sexual appetite. As the 4 amigo’s roll along everyone learns a little something about each other. Which as the story progresses makes things very interesting.

Sexually, pretty much anything goes in Long Hard Ride. At times Colby was a little bit TO Alpha for me but it seems that just when I wanted to write him off as an ass he did something to redeem himself to me. I will say this, it does get very wild. Lot's of 3 male on female action so if loads of - every way you can do it Sex is not for you best stay away....

"YEEEHAW, ANOTHER GREAT SERIES STARTS OFF"

Every so often I find myself drawn to a Lorelei James, Sarah McCarty book (or similar great authors from this particular genre) and woah, wee hee and ding ding this listen sure doesn't disappoint as you can clearly visualise all the drool-worthy men wearing chaps, cowboy hats, boots and spurs.

City girl Channing is running away from an overbearing dictatorial family and wants adventure so has hooked up doing the Rodeo Circuits and it's there that she meets tough talking, sexy and hot, Ultra Alpha Cowboy Cole who makes her a proposition that involves his 2 other, equally hot, travelling partners Edgar and Trevor and the rest, they say, is history.

This listen has a good plot, great characters who have sizzling chemistry and the sex isn't just hot..... it's nuclear. There's Dom/sub, light bondage, M/F, M/F/M and M/M action which was red hot but, at times, it was also loving as the four of them tried to sort out and come to terms with their feelings for one another. It also give some insight to the trial, tribulations and heartaches of the Rodeo scene which soon separates the men from the boys.

However, IMHO, I thought it needed another chapter or an Epilogue to wrap things up nicely but maybe, further into this series, we will learn more of the couple's HEA ending from all the other McKay siblings.

Worth a credit? It's a heart-stopping, jaw dropping, raunchy erotica romance which gets it's HEA but just not for all involved. It would have been worth a credit but my $10 rule applied and I saved my credit for a more expensive, but maybe not as star-worthy, listen

    "Sure ain't no John Wayne!!!"
What made the experience of listening to Long Hard Ride the most enjoyable?

Lorelai James is an extremely talented writer. Beware as the content is quite strong!!! Being that the case, her ability to portray feelings, hurt, anger, passion and love is surreal. I think that she may just be my favourite author about now because she can really deliver!!!

Who was your favorite character and why?

It's hard for me to choose because I also enjoyed the secondary characters. I can see the way she introduced them that eventually we will be hearing their story but it's just so well done. There are many, many, characters in this book and they are all relevant and just as important as the others. There is a perfect balance of character development, situation building, evenly paced and expertly presented. This series promises entertainment for a long time.

    Which scene was your favorite?

In this first book, Colby, obviously, but no doubt that Trevor and Edgard will later on capture my heart too. In fact all the Mackays in one form or another will no doubt leave me breathless.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes I did in that, although the content was "strong" for me, it was so incredibly well written and the importance of the lives of the characters was just as elevated as the "steamy" side of the story that I laughed, cried, sighed and thought a lot...

    Any additional comments?

I think that given the chance this book will apeal to many people because even if you don't want to say you enjoyed it, you have no choice but to admit it! I loved it. Can't wait to start book 2. One more thing, REBECCA ESTRELLA did an amazing job of the narration! I think she must be Southern, or a bit of a Cowgirl herself cause she's just too good at it. I wouldn't really know being a Spaniard born and bred in London, but you'll know what I mean when you listen to her. She did an awesome job of it!!!

It was actually pretty good. The story was ok, but i wanted a book with steamy sexscenes and not so much of a story, and that was what i got! so get this if u need some afternoon blush in your cheeks! theres a little bit of i all, Lorelei variates the sex a lot and it makes the book work all the way through!

What disappointed you about Long Hard Ride?

It had very little story at all....just sex. I can't believe that a supposedly smart woman would be this stupid and shallow.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

It would have been PERFECT if there were a more complicated back story - however, this is a superficial, cowboy, fantasy that delivers just that. As it was it was very enjoyable.

Did Rebecca Estrella do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

She is sort of robotic (with a western accent), but she was able to differentiate between the characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yep! Cannot wait to get the rest of the series.

    Any additional comments?

Not for the faint of heart or the typical romance reader. This is down and dirty and nothing is held back or left to the imagination.

    STRONG language and MATURE themes

If you are in the mood to listen to multiple forms of explicit sex acts...go for it. Lots of characters mean lots of spin offs but there really is no real storyline here. The narration could have been much better.

    Story
"Pretty good start to the series :)"

    3.5-4 stars

This was a pretty good story. I liked Colby and Channing and Trevor and Edgard were interesting characters that added depth to the story. This is the first story I've read by this author and based off this, I'll probaly try more of her work in the future.

Channing comes from the Boston area and a family with money and expectations. She got a teaching degree and wanted to work in elementary school kids but her father set her up with a job at a prestigious prep school working with older kids (even though she didn't want to work there), insisting it was better for their family image. When Channing's parents tried setting her up with a boring accountant who proposed after the first date, Channing freaked and took off to join the rodeo. She decides she needs a sexual adventure and some time away from her life to figure out what she wants to do from here on out.

Colby is a rodeo cowboy with his own ranch. He grew up on a ranch and lives and breaths all things cowboy. His father has been pushing him to cut back on the rodeo and find a wife to settle down with but Colby hasn't found the right woman yet. While on the rodeo circuit, Colby tends to go through a different buckle bunny every night, sometimes with his friend Trevor joining in.

Channing is traveling with a guy named Jarred who is a cowboy with the rodeo. She likes the guy but is much more attracted to Colby, one of the stars of the rodeo. Colby sees her at a bar and shows an interest in her, telling her that when she decides to get rid of Jarred to come find him. This ends up coming to pass sooner than Colby thought because right after he leaves the bar, Channing finds outt Jarred is married. She knocks him out (with the trophy she just won for a wet t-shirt contest) and goes back to her hotel, trying to figure out what to do next. She doesn't seriously plan to look Colby up but he hears about her and Jarred's breakup and finds her. He invites her to travel with him and his 2 rodeo traveling companions, Trevor and Edgard. Part of this deal is that they three men are able to all have sex with her, either together, in pairs or singly. Channing is very attracted to Colby and Trevor and Edgard are both attractive men so she's not adverse to being with them. She does set certain limits of her own though. They start traveling together and things are good between Colby and Channing and Trevor as well but there's something going on with Edgard that is causing strife and he doesn't seem majorly in to Channing either so she's not sure how to deal with him. Not that things are perfect with Colby. The first rodeo she's with him at, she sits in general seating (because she didn't know where else to sit) and Colby ends up getting pissed because she wasn't sitting where he thought she should be (even though he didn't tell he that). This causes some strife and Colby acts like a jerk but he does end up apologizing, eventually.

As Channing continues to travel with the guys, she tries to make friends with Edgard and he doesn't seem to hate her but he also doesn't seem thrilled that she's around. They do seem to come to a tentative truce though. Colby and Channing start getting closer emotionally (but it's still new enough that it's not real obvious) and even though they've only been together for a few days, it seems like they've been around each other for much longer. They even have some fun together, making a bet about a bull ride of 90 points or more. I loved how it turned out and it showed that Colby has a sweet side. There's plenty of sex scattered throughout the story but its the interpersonal stuff that gets difficult. As things progress between them, Colby starts regretting the fact that he has to share Channing with the other men (and that he himself had suggested it). He promised her a sexual discovery so he tries to ride it out but his jealousy doesn't stay completely contained. Colby goes a little caveman on Channing and she backs off a bit to think about things. Colby apologizes and they seem to be on the mend but other issues show up in the form of his family (specifically a father that doesn't like her because she's a "City girl") and a mis-guided friend that tells Channing crap about Trevor that isn't true at all but has the effect to make her think Colby couldn't be serious at all about her. Colby wants to talk things out with Channing (and gives indications of possibly having feelings for her) but just about this time, he gets injured by a bull and everything pretty much goes to crap. Channing and Colby are split up for a bit and Colby's not happy because he can't find Channing (partially because of an interfering parent...). Fortunately, a friend to them both drops a hint for Colby and it brings Channing and Colby back together. I liked the reunion at the end and seeing Channing and Colby get their HEA.

This was a pretty enjoyable story. I will admit to some ups and downs, more than once I got pissed at one character or another for pulling some crap, but overall the story was good and I was happy that Channing and Colby managed to find each other in the end. I'll probably read more of this series in the future...the next book is supposed to be about Cash and Gemma and I liked both of them in this book so I am curious on how things will go for them. I'd recommend this book. :)
