Publisher's summary

As a harpy, Sentinel Aryal is accustomed to dealing with hate, but Sentinel Quentin Caeravorn manages to inspire in her a burning ire unlike anything she's ever known. Aryal believes the new Sentinel to be a criminal, and vows to take him out as soon as the opportunity arises. But the harpy's incessant wrath has pushed Quentin to the limit, and forces him to make a deadly vow of his own. To put an end to the conflict, Dragos, Lord of the Wyr, sends them on a reconnaissance mission to the Elven land of Numenlaur. Forced to work together, Aryal and Quentin's mutual antagonism escalates. Each fight draws forth more passion-culminating in an explosively sexual confrontation. But when their quest reveals real danger, Aryal and Quentin must resolve their differences in ways beyond the physical, before the entire Wyr is threatened.

At times, I was holding my breath

Vicious confrontations between Aryal and Quentin has put both Sentinels on the hot seat, but when one of their encounters places little Liam at risk, Dragos forces the two Sentinels on a mission away from the territory. Banished from their homes and tasked to check on the Elven land of Numenlaur, Aryal and Quentin separately make a silent vow that only one of them will come out alive. Unbeknownst to the two, a powerful force is on the hunt for a mystical object and Aryal and Quentin may just be collateral damage.

I love stories where the main characters are at odds with each other at the very start and with Aryal and Quentin's animosity brewing since the last book, along with both character's dominant nature, this story was explosive. Throughout the series Aryal has always had a difficult personality and this book really showcases her finer qualities such as her loyalty and heart for those who are weaker. Quentin, we got to see on the surface in the previous books and this book showed him to be just as loyal and oh-so dominant. You can expect humorous banter between the main H/h, edge-of-your-seat action scenes, and heart-stopping sex play in this tale, but also brace yourself for a difficult scene. I really liked the nice balance of tenderness, heart-ache, and triumph in this book and I can't wait for the next installment.

Another fabulous performance by Eastlake, delivering quick and witty banters perfectly and with great character distinction.

What a Shock!!

I got sidetracked by the novella's, so it took me a while to get back by this book. I must say Thea Harrison through me for a loop with this one! I always thought Aryal and Grim would be the match, but Aryal and Quentin I would never have believed. When Dragos sends Aryal and Quentin to Numenlaur on a two-fold mission, I didn't think both would return and they almost didn't. The first part of the mission was to settle their personal fight and the second part was to ensure no one was there that shouldn't be.

It was fun to watch how they both thought along the same lines so much of the time and to watch how they slowly began to work together. Then when they were captured by the Russian Witch and the shadow wolves, they really come together with one goal in mind, kill the witch. When Aryal is hurt so bad that she may never fly again and isn't sure she wants to live, it's Quentin who gives her back the strength to go on and encourages her to believe that she will fly again. I loved when Thea had them tease about being the parents to the 3 young elves that the witch had also captured and how they got them to safety.

I think one of the most touching parts is when Aryal tells Quentin of the promise she made a long time ago to her mate. Not knowing that he would use those same words when she is having surgery to repair her wings. Not even Dragos could hold her at one point during the surgery, but with those words Quentin did.

Thea Harrison wrote a great story around two very dominate personalities and gives us a look into Numenlaur that we had to this point not had much of. As for Sophie Eastlake's narration, what can I say but she has done another great job!! Together they make a great pair!

AS GOOD AS EVER!

What would have made Kinked better?

I like it as it is. Very well written and the narration is superb!

What did you like best about this story?

When Aryal and Quentin realized that they love each other. Their love for each other was so moving! Beautifully performed by Sophie Eastlake.

What does Sophie Eastlake bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She made all the characters so real. I love her performance. Always look out for books read by her!

Any additional comments?

Completely satisfied with all the books on the Elder Races. I hope Ms. Thea Harrison will continue to write more on Dragos, Pia and Liam and the Sentinels as well.

The magic is back!

This is book 6 of the Elder Races series, and I think it's my favorite! Dragonbound, book 1, had a special magic to it and even though the follow up books were great they didn't have that all encompassing magic of book 1, this one does!

This is the story of Quinn, Pia's old boss and owner of Elfies pub, and newly christened sentinel of the Weir people. He's been under investigation for 2 years by Ariel the Harpy sentinel. She knows he's dirty, a law breaker, she just hasn't been able to prove it. The truth is Quinn is on the shady side of the law, it's how he has lived his life and its what he knows. He is also a total male alpha, handsome enough to get any woman he wants, and he dabbles in BDSM, but something is missing from his life he is bored.

Ariel is on a mission to destroy Quinn, anything or anyone that threatens the Weir needs to be eliminated. The fact that Quinn is now one of the seven elite sentinels sworn to protect the Weir way if life is NOT acceptable!

Great story, hot scenes, the heat between these two leaps off the page. I really hope we don't have to wait another year for book 7. If you haven't started this series you are truly missing out!
