New York Times & USA Today best seller. This is a full-length, standalone, contemporary romance.
He was my older brother's best friend. He was never supposed to be mine. I thought we would get it out of our systems and move on. One of us did. One of us left. Now he's back, looking at me like he wants to devour me. And all those feelings I'd turned into anger are brewing into something else, something that terrifies me. He broke my heart last time. This time he'll obliterate it.

This was a little too boring for me...a very light, warm romance between two people that met when they were kids. Nothing really strong, surprising or hot ever happened. I would not read or recommend this book to anyone.
Very, very bad woman narrator: no difference between caracters and no intonation.
Drawn out. I felt like I heard the same scene at least 3 times while listening to this book. It got to the point where I was fast forwarding through some of it to get to the end.
Most boring romantic novel ever! The story was so generic. So cliché. Sister falls in love with brothers best friend....oldest story ever. No excitement, no climax ending, everything about this book is so predictable. I swear almost every woman with an older brother went through this in high school. How un-original of this author. It felt more like a sitcom that gets cancelled mid season. After I read the good reviews I thought it would be worth my time. Oh how truly wrong I was. This book would make a lame Lifetime movie for sure. Don't waste your credits people! 5 stars my ass....
I would absolutely recommend this audiobook to a friend and have already done so. Female narrator Christy does a particularly nuanced and perfectly balanced narration of both female and male characters effectively animating Elle & Ollie's struggle to embrace their longtime forbidden feelings.
I'd compare it to Come to Me Quietly by AL Jackson because they both have a similar theme of forbidden new adult love; both are well written and evoked strong reactions in me. I have read each novel twice now as well.
They added another level of personality to each character and hit the right tones every single time. Their narrations were simply flawless.
Yes, I loved having all the same feels again as I did when I read the e-book for the first time earlier this year. Mia was so funny! And I literally felt a combination of physical pangs of longing and joy during Elle and Ollie's sometimes clandestine moments together many, many times.
I've had severe chronic insomnia for weeks now, and I can't typically focus on e-book reading for long while suffering from it. Sadly, my insomnia put my early read of Paper Hearts (Mia and Jensen's full length novel) on a bit of a hold. So this reread via audiobook was perfect. I've never listened to any books narrated by either Christy Romano or Vikas Adam. Both did a great job. In fact, Christy is now one of my favorite female narrators. I definitely look forward to any new book read by either of them. Also, that bathroom scene at Elle's parents' house was incredibly sexy. I was out shopping, but I rewound it several times and had a huge grin on my face each time before moving on to the next crazy moment. ♡ I'm even more eager now to resume my interrupted read of Paper Hearts.

This is one of my favorite books and I absolutely love Claire contreras. I wasn't particularly impressed with the performance. I don't think the actors really understood the characters.
I'd suggest you read the book yourself before you get the audio version
What an emotional ride!!! I loved this book, every emotionally draining minute of it! This is a wonderful story of love, loss, and rebirth.
Elle had finally overcome her love for Oliver her brother Vic’s best friend. She is has fallen in love again and is engaged, then tragedy strikes. Ellie is alone again. She decides to sell her house, move in with Vic and recoup and move on. Her first day back she runs into the one man that could re-shatter her healing heart…Oliver.
I loved this story. I loved the way the author write about the characters’ insecurities and how they work thru them. I really liked the way Ms. Contreras took the read from present to past, describing how everything in the past pertained to the present. This book took me on an extreme range of emotions, but that is what I love in a romance novel. I loved the symbolism in Elle’s art. It was enlightening.
I have definitely found a new author to love and follow. Ms. Contreras did a phenomenal job drawing me in and not letting me out.
As far as the narrators, Christy Romano, Vikas Adam they did an outstanding job in their performances. The way they told the story kept me riveted to the story.
Thank you for reading my review. This was definitely a beautiful story! If you like reading or listening to a wonderful romance book, this one is definitely for you.
I really enjoyed the pace and narrators. I found the pace of everything perfect. I liked that Claire helped me with the emotions. I truly felt for Elle's sorrow and I empathized deeply. I was sucked into the Oliver and Elle dynamic and I was rooting for them from the beginning.
I don't have any complaints.
I really enjoyed Christy Romano’s voice. It’s older, but girly. I pictured her as Elle. She doesn’t really change her voice for the male parts, I know that is annoying for some listeners, I’m indifferent. I have Sweet by Tammara Webber in audio and because of her I will bump that one up. Vikas Adam has a really deep voice. It’s not distracting, it’s kind of sexy and I got really into it. This is my first narration with him and it won’t be the last.
I'm not sure... something about second chance love... or something.
4.5 Broken Hearts Stars
Kaleidoscope Hearts is a standalone and is part of the Hearts series. This will be an audio review. This is my third Claire Contreras book. I love her covers and I love her stories so I was really excited for starting the audio on this one. I’m also a fan of the older brother’s best friend story as well.
This book is excellent in audio. I love the leading female narrator and she captured the heart of the story. The pace was perfect and the length of book wasn’t too long or too short.
Elle is picking the pieces of her shattered heart. Her ex died and she’s trying to move forward. He’s an artist and they own an art gallery together. She’s in the process of selling his artwork and slowly letting him go.
Oh the feels I felt in this one. The emotions Claire Contreras made me feel! I know I said that already, but it’s just so heart breaking. I felt for Elle. I felt her pain, her sadness and I found her very brave. I loved the beginning because it was showed the end of her grieving. She’s boxing up her ex’s things and it just breaks you into a million pieces.
Oliver is best friends with Elle’s brother. I know! Oliver and Elle have a history, but nothing really came of it.
Vikas Adam has a really deep voice. It’s not distracting, it’s kind of sexy and I got really into it. This is my first narration with him and it won’t be the last.
I love Oliver and Elle’s history. I loved that it started years ago, but the timing was always off. Oliver is the Hero that was a bit too late, but now is getting a second chance. There is some slight angst as Oliver and Elle try to reconnect and I ate this up!
I was rooting for the two of them and I enjoyed some of the flash back scenes because it really developed the relationship. It also gave me a better picture of the Oliver and Elle dynamic. Even though Elle is single now, she still wants her brother’s approval and knows she will never get it.
I liked how Oliver and Elle’s ex represented two different forms of love. I truly believe you can love more than one person if that original person isn’t there anymore. Call me romantic, but I love second chance reads!
If you want a gripping emotional story, then read Kaleidoscope Hearts.
Too busy to read as much as I'd like, Audible is the perfect solution. I'm a romance reader mostly, but can stray into any story.
I bought this audiobook because it was recommended under Colleen Hoover's books and hers are some of my favorite.
It was an excellent recommendation because it has everything I look for in a book. A little heart ache, a little drama, a little sadness and a whole lot of romance. Loved it.
I wasn't sure about the performance of Christy Romano at first. Sometimes I got lost in who was speaking when because she doesn't do a typical voice change. But after I caught on, I really loved the way she told the punch lines and got into the way she spoke. I wasn't quite as happy with Vikas Adam. I felt his voice was a bit monotonous and emotionless. I did like the gruffness, I felt that is how this character would sound.
Married, mother of one that loves the listen to audiobooks while working, cleaning, work out or just lounging!
YES!!!!! i have listened to this book about 5 times since I bought it! I really enjoyed Claire's writing and Christy's narration.
It's a bit similiar to Jasinda Wilder on the story line but like Tamra Baumann in her writing.
I've not listened to any of Christy or Vikas's narration on any other book. But I would definitely listen to Christy's narration on other books. Vika was good as well but Christy's narration was my favorite.
Absolutely, but dang work got in the way.
I can't wait to see what Claire Contreras next book has to offer in this series.
these book will remain in my library, I will definitely listen to this book again. I enjoyed the characters in the book, they had me crying in laughter and sadness as well. Simply love this book.
