Enjoyable

I have no complaints about this book. The characters were likable and the story line had a good pace. The narration was good as well. It might have been a little predictable, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment.

I read this book a long time ago, about 30 years. Liked it so much that when I saw it available on kindle unlimited I snapped it up. And it is the first one I'm reading/listening to. I want to say more about this story but I absolutely hate spoilers, so I won't go into details.
The narrator brings the story to life.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely! When Grace's secret is uncovered I couldn't help but laugh! To me, that type of situation, while not funny if it was happening to me, HILARIOUS to hear about! The relationship was so cute and there where unexpected twists!

the Duke's emotion took some of the thrill away -- I would like to have seen a little more manly strength

Premice was decent but FAR TOO REPETATIVE

After listening to the prologue, I realized I had physically read, & somewhat enjoyed the book! I think reading the book was way better than listening to it because of the selection of the Narrator & her performance of the various characters. Her British accent was Not of the TON, and more a shopgirl..even when imitated a DUKE!! I almost stopped listening because of how irritating and inaccurate her portrayal was. Additionally she did not carry off the male vocal emotion at all.
As far as the story line, usually love Laura London, but this book was SO REPETITIVE, and most of the rehashing was totally unnecessary regardless, because most issues were not resolved.

Different and enjoyable

I really enjoyed this book because it was a different theme from most romantic novels. I enjoyed the different characters and the action of the novel. I would highly recommend this book.

A great listen

A selfless virgin, a couple of villans, and a broken man who is handsome, rich, titled and in need of rescuing, gives this tale all the ingredients for a great book for romance junkies. Interestingly my grandfather lost two wives in childbirth before his third wife finally made him a father (lucky for me hey!!) so to the sceptics it did happen in the past ..... a lot!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to more books by Laura.

Wow What a Great Listen!

Sarah Coomes is going on my awesome narrators list. Every character is distinct, both male and female characters. I'd definately listen to one of hers.

A duke with a broken heart who buried two wives, ends up with a "on the shelf" neglected daughter of an earl. Good conflict but nothing to over the top. And a good HEA.
