Publisher's summary

Too much of a good thing.

With her long ponytail and sparkling green eyes, Tessa Donovan looks more like the girl next door than a businesswoman - or a heartbreaker. Which may explain why Detective Luke Asher barely notices her when he arrives to investigate a break-in at her family’s brewery. He’s got his own problems - starting with the fact that his partner, Simone, is pregnant and everyone thinks he’s the father.

Tessa has her hands full, too. Her brother’s playboy ways may be threatening the business, and the tension could tear her tight-knit family apart. In fact, the only thing that could unite the Donovan boys is seeing a man come after their "baby" sister. Especially a man like Luke Asher. But Tessa sees past the rumors to the man beneath. He’s not who people think he is - and neither is she.

good listen

If you could sum up Good Girls Don't in three words, what would they be?

Funny, light, and sexy.

What other book might you compare Good Girls Don't to and why?

The other two books in the trilogy. Listen to them in order to better see character developmemt through the books.

What about Lauren Fortgang???s performance did you like?

Good character differences in vocal tone. I didn't have to wait for the phrase about who said the line. I wasn't distracted from the story, but rather pulled in by the performance.

Any additional comments?

The characters were great, the storyline believable, and the performance was very easy to listen to.

Wanted to like this one more . . .

The narration was fine. There was noticeable differentiation between different characters, I could always tell who was talking. The voices Fortgang uses play into the characterizations Ms. Dahl has set up.

I was unable to really connect to this story but it was an entertaining enough first time listen, although I don't think I will go back and play it again. I found the characters to be predictable. Bad boy gone good cop/ lover, good girl/ little sister, hyper-responsible/ hyper-mature oldest brother and last but not least goof ball/ care-free middle child. This would be fine but there wasn't a whole lot more to these characters to set them apart from the stereo types they are made out to be. The story was cute and it had it's funny parts and it was racier than I had anticipated which I found to be a plus. I do appreciate that although this novel is part of a trilogy it was a stand alone story that had a nice resolution at the end and didn't result in a cliff hanger ploy to sell subsequent novels.

I'm not sure I would recommend paying full price for this book but if you happen to catch it on sale I think it's worth it.

Great start to series

First in series, I really like Luke the hot cop! Worth reading the book for him alone, smirk... Way better than I expected. Characters are likeable and real and the plot is tight.

Horrible.

Superficial story and horrible narration. I respect the effort it must take to write, publish and narrate a story so I think long and hard before giving a poor review. Pass on this one.

Just Don't

Any additional comments?

I could not finish this book, it was a combination of the narrator (too whiny) and the plot. Don't...

If you like whiny adults....

I couldn't figure out if it was the story, the reader or both but this book fast became very irritating as each main character seemed to be nothing but a whiny brat. (To the reader's credit, I believe she may only have been reacting naturally to the book's juvenile overtone.) The character's act like they are 12, not in their twenties. There might be a decent storyline here, but I couldn't listen to the brats anymore.
