Publisher's summary

Second grade teacher Mia Delaney isn't looking for love. In fact, she isn't looking for anything at all because life hasn't been fair. Everything - the idea of love, her hopes and dreams - was ripped away in a single night.

Arrogant yet sexy Adam Lawson makes the move to a small town in an attempt to escape life in the city. Here he hopes to provide a fresh start for those he loves and protects with a vow to never let anyone get close enough to hurt them again.

A chance encounter with Miss Delaney begins a relentless pursuit that has Adam breaking his own rules when he makes an offer she simply can't refuse. Despite her internal struggles, Mia knows there's no denying the attraction between them.

But when acquaintances become friends and friends become enemies, Adam's need to protect those around him becomes even more crucial. Will the tangled web of lies and betrayal combined with past insecurities become too much for them to handle?

Unpredictability Captivating 💕

I never know what to expect when I'm given a book from an author that's new to me, but I have to admit that the story is well written and captivating. Yep, this book is more lustful than romantic but I appreciate how the author weaved in elements of romance around the mystery and suspense without being predictable The characters in the story have deep complicated issues from their past that effect their present and future. It does have cliffhanger.....so just be warned.....its my reason for 4.5 stars. I will be getting the next book because I have to know the outcome.

The narrator did an excellent job with this book. Each voice was unique and had spoken clearly. 😊

🌟 Note: This story has explicit sex and language......This is an adults only listen! 🌟

🌸I would like to thank the author, narrator, or publisher for providing me this audiobook at no cost in exchange for my unbiased review courtesy of Audio book boom. 🌸

4 NEED More Star's

I should have clued in on the Trilogy part of the title. Yes it’s a cliff-hanger…. But so worth the listen.

This story is a slow burn but it packs a punch. Or at least it did for me.

Mia Delaney single and the second grade teacher, she has been hurt badly in the past and isn’t looking for anything.
I like that she isn’t afraid to be alone. She has the best freaking dog ever!

She is content to live vicariously through her best friend Shelby who is recently married.
Living in a small town can be a blessing and a curse everyone knows you and your past.
Gina is her rival who not only cheated on her with her boyfriend at the time but continues to be a thorn in Mia’s side.

So when single Dad Adam Lawson comes to town not only does he throw a wrench in Mia’s newly controlled life but also she throws one in his.
His kids are adorable you fall in love with them as much as with these two.

The interaction between these two is fun and hot, hot. They feel each other when the other is around if that doesn’t make for good chemistry I don’t know what does.

Some strange things do start happening, but I can't tell you or it would give to much away. All I can say is listen to the dog people... well that's what I wanted to shout anyways.

I can’t say what but book 2 better be in audio soo I swear it this was a great listen. The narrator Tracy Marks brings this gem to life. I want, I need, I am begging for more!!

Most listeners Loved This Book

This was not a book for me. I found Mia annoying, and this Adam character made nonsense to me At all. The book was confusing and jumpy. I felt that there was no depth to anything in the story.
It's was just not a book for me. In my opinion some parts where just to drawn out, and others not enough. I had too many questions at the end. Of course many will be answered in the next two books, but I won't be buying those. It took me a while to get through this one because I'm just not good with an over supply of angst and the never ending internal dialogue.

Having said that I am in the minority as most people loved the book

Tracy Marks was excellent with the delivery of the story.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Characters 3.75, Story 4, Narration 5 stars!

This is a really hard book for me to review because I loved the story line, I only loved the characters (sometimes) and I more than loved the narration.... But, yes there is a but.... about 1/3 of this book I wanted to stop listening because I felt like Mia was so clueless!!! I mean she spent a large part of this book being so naive that it made me crazy! For a smart girl she sure was dumb, but only during some parts of the book, at other times I loved her character!
Here is an example of what she was like during the clue less parts....I keep seeing this car everywhere I go, gee I wonder who it is, I feel like someone is watching, huh that's weird, oh the window is open in the middle of the night after my dog woke me up barking at the back door, wow must have left it open!
I understood in the beginning but after SO many different things you would think she would catch on! Besides that though, the other 2/3 of the book I loved her! She was sweet, fun and she teaches 2nd graders what's not to love? Then there is Adam, He is a sexy single dad....Nope I don't even need to say more :) In the end I gave this book 4 stars because I loved it most of the time! I'm hoping book 2 leaves out the naivete and It'll probably be a 5 star for me!

TRACY MARKS IS A ROCK STAR!!! I love her narration, every thing about it works for me!

Awesome narration!

Absolutely loved this book! The characters are amazing and you will fall in love with Mia & Adam! Can't wait to find out the rest of their story! Mia is a very strong woman to have dealt with all that she has; how much heartbreak can one person survive?! This is an amazing story and you will feel the emotions..... what a ride!

What a Surprise!

I review books for Audiobook Boom and this was one I had requested to review in exchange for my honest review...

BUT PEOPLE!! I was so pleasantly surprised, this is one of the best audiobooks I have listened to. The narration is great, Tracy Marks managed to keep me completely engrossed throughout the entire book and was able to portray all the characters, including children, in a very legitimate way.

Although I don't like to spoil plots, I will say that this book has everything I look for in an audiobook that I will listen to again and again. There was mystery, suspense, romance, sweetness, animals!, steamy hot sex and the perfect amount of angst.

I can't recommend this one more and although I was offered the second book in exchange for review, I'm turning that offer down because this series is credit worthy and I want to give the author credit for book 2.

Stop reading and do download!

Conflicted

I loved Mia and her interaction with her friends. I loved Adams kids. But the relationship and interaction between Mia and Adam was a bit strange to me, and yet I kept listening. No matter how hot Adam may have looked he was just too creepy for me, and later weepy. And, Mia would have these, what I thought were normal reactions to his weird, stalker behavior, but then just immediately act or suddenly feel different about it with no real explanation...and yet I continued to listen, sometimes in confused or horrified fascination. And, then at times it just seemed like the story went off on a tangent.
All that said, I can't say it's not worth a read. And, I completely understand the reviews of those people that did really enjoy the book a lot. I think this one will just depend on each individual readers preferences. I listened to the book and can't say I didn't enjoy it. It was just a bit weird for me.
I received this audiobook as an ARC for an honest review.

Giving in

What about Tracy Marks’s performance did you like?

Tracy is a narrator whose work I have enjoyed in the past.

She has a great way of narrating different characters, accents, emotions etc.
Mia and Adam had their ups and downs in the book and you felt it mainly thanks for Tracy's narration.

Tracy's narration added to my enjoyment of the book.

Was Giving in to You worth the listening time?

Yes.

It features Mia who is strong and independent.

I liked the fact she wasn't the timid schoolteacher. She has strength.
The best parts of the book were listening to Mia and Adam talk, and her leaving Adam baffled at her not falling at his feet.

Another thing I loved about her was the fact she enjoyed a healthy sex life.

I admired LM Carr for writing a strong heroine in the genre, who doesn't get to experience good sex only with the hero.

We need more heroines who enjoy life to the fullest before, during and after meeting their partner.

Any additional comments?

A very enjoyable book.

Well worth the emotional investment!

First of all I think narrator Tracy Marks is becoming a one-click narrator for me. She is amazing at bringing the book to life in each character.
Mia is a great heroine as a strong character but with an heart-wrenching backstory. The author did a great job building your attachment to her.
Hello Adam- hottie alpha male that you immediately fall head over heels for from the get go even though you might not want to. He is frustrating and aggravating, but as the story unfolds, you get to understand all his reasons for being the person he is.
This is well worth the credit and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
