Publisher's summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of the Night Huntress series comes a breathtaking new journey to the dark side of desire.

The night is not safe for mortals. Denise MacGregor knows all too well what lurks in the shadows - her best friend is half-vampire Cat Crawfield - and she has already lost more than the average human could bear. But her family’s past is wrapped in secrets and shrouded in darkness - and a demon shape-shifter has marked Denise as prey. Now her survival depends on an immortal who lusts for a taste of her.

He is Spade, a powerful, mysterious vampire who has walked the earth for centuries and is now duty-bound to protect this endangered, alluring human - even if it means destroying his own kind. Denise may arouse his deepest hungers, but Spade knows he must fight his urge to have her as they face the nightmare together, because once the first crimson drop falls, they will both be lost.

As Perfect as Usual

There has been a break between my Jeaniene Frost books and series. I have just been off listening to many other great writers. Jeaniene does a great job of filling the reader in on how we got here. I have been away from Kat and Bone's adventures and had forgotten how Denise came to being alone. That really didn't matter. The author gave flash backs and history to bring the reader up to date. Tavia Gilbert did a great job on the characters and the parts they play. She is a great narrator.

Give it a listen you won’t be mad unless it’s not your thing

I love all the characters... but Ian is my boy. Lol this story made me laugh and kept my interest. The narrator did a good job. And Jeaniene-Frost thank you for a great story

Life after (in between) Cat & Bones

I wasn't sure that I was ready to move away from Cat and Bones. I had no investment in Spade or Denise. But, Jeaniene Frost did it again! I eventually fell in love with them too! I love how familiar characters continue to surface throughout all of the books. Honestly, this one of the best series I've read. I truly enjoy them!

Wow!

Shade and Denise were freaking awesome! Though the same overprotective stupidity occurs in this one, I still loved this one!

Amazing voice!

This voice actress has the best male voice I’ve ever heard! The story and love are great, but I just can’t get over how good the actress is. Well done.

Good Story; Not so Great Narration

I feel like I'm being critical by saying this, but I had a hard time getting past Tavia Gilbert's narration. She has a very clipped way of talking that is annoying and overrode the entertainment of her character voices - enough so that I am not sure I can listen to another book by her. I also found Denise's character to be eye-rolling whiny at times...but despite these flaws the book was still entertaining.

Long time Fan

I've read all of the Night Huntress Books and I've really gotten into the audio versions lately. I didn't mind the narrator but she made Denise sound like the kind of person you want to continuously shake the stupid out of. And I swear that voice she picked for Bones sounded like she was doing a bad impersonation of a chimney sweep from Mary Poppins. Why did she pitch it so high? It made me squint every time I heard it like I was looking directly into the sun. It was painful. The book was great. The Graphic Audio versions are astronomical!
