Publisher's summary

Johanna Walker is used to taking charge. But she’s about to meet someone who will make her lose control....

It has always been up to Johanna to care for her family, particularly her younger brother, Cole. With an absent father and a useless mother, she’s been making decisions based on what’s best for Cole for as long as she can remember. She even determines what men to date by how much they can provide for her brother and her, not on whatever sparks may - or may not - fly.

But with Cameron MacCabe, the attraction is undeniable. The sexy new bartender at work gives her butterflies every time she looks at him. And for once, Jo is tempted to put her needs first. Cam is just as obsessed with getting to know Jo, but her walls are too solid to let him get close enough to even try.

Then Cam moves into the flat below Jo’s, and their blistering connection becomes impossible to ignore. Especially since Cam is determined to uncover all of Jo’s secrets...even if it means taking apart her defenses piece by piece.

Another Hit

I love this author. This is a great story. I was not originally sold on the choice of character for the next book because I did not really like her in the first book but it was great surprise. I enjoy these stories because she always has a little spin on the usual love story. She has lots of steamy scenes, funny parts and a few sad parts. It just makes for an all around great listen. I could have listened to it all in one sitting but alas my kids wanted to be fed:( Samantha Young is now on my favorite list and I hope to see more from her in the future. It is so worth the credit or the cash for this book.

I'm officially done with the series

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, not with a good conscious.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It was pretty predictable.

What aspect of Elle Newlands’s performance would you have changed?

She did great with the accents but she sounded awful in the male voices. Cameron sounded very, very strange.

Could you see Down London Road being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No. I don't think it should be so I can't even think that far.

Any additional comments?

I have read books one and two and I am just not into this series. Guess I don't see what the hype is all about because this seems more geared towards teenagers.

Thoroughly Enjoyed! Real life romance!

Would you listen to Down London Road again? Why?

Yes. I actually already went back and listened to the last two hours for a second time. Unlike some romances, this one is something that could and probably does happen. It was nice to read about real people with real struggles working to make this work.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Down London Road?

It would be a spoiler, so I don't want to write it; however, it is in the prologue.

What about Elle Newlands’s performance did you like?

I liked Elle's narration so much that I added her other Audible book to my wish list. The book gets good reviews, so it is probably a win-win.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Love in the face of life.

Any additional comments?

While I enjoyed the first book in this series, I liked this one better. Both are worth the listen, but Jo had far less angst than Joss which was a nice change.

Great listen!

I loved the 1st book in this series. The second book puts two characters together that I never would have imagined. And to see the love she had for her brother, to learn what she had gone through and the reasons why she has acted the way she has. And then her friends learning about her pay and her father showing up. Finally she has found someone whom she can love, learn to accept help from her friends, and find a way to forgive her mother after she finds out why she is the way she is. Really enjoyed the narrator. Love the advent. Makes you feel like your in London.

Great book.

What a beautiful book, I love every word of it. Jo amazes me with the way she loves and cares from her little brother Cole. She makes so many sacrifices and works so hard to care for her brother and take care of her alcoholic mother. She meets Cam, he is just perfect for Jo. He cares for her, helps her take care of Cole and Cam helps her shoulder some her burden. Cam is sexy, loving, kind man the kind that makes Jo feels like she is worthy of love and he helps her see that despite what Jo’s abusive father thinks of her Jo is more and Jo and Cole deserve a good life. Great book.

Love...love...loved it!!!

Where does Down London Road rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's ranks in my top ten...maybe in my top five!

What other book might you compare Down London Road to and why?

It's the second in the series that started with On Dublin Street. It is similar in style and yet very different in content from that book!

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was the night she broke up with Malcolm and then went to Cameron's apartment. They were sizzling hot together and I loved it when she said "I broke up with Malcolm" and he said "I know, you wouldn't be here otherwise". I loved the chemistry between these two!!!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Jo told the cab driver "my people are on Dublin street". She finally realized that she had friends in her life who loved her and would do anything to help her!

Any additional comments?

I hope there are more books in this series. I love the narrator - Elle Newlands - she drew me in and made the characters come alive for me. I have read some reviews where her accent has been dissected and found wanting...I have never been to Scotland and so I don't know what the accent should sound like...but it sure works for me the way she delivers it!!!

Wonderful book, brought tears to my eyes

the narrator did a great job with the narration as well. I can't wait for the next one to come out. I also want to say that the characters in this book are portrayed really well. None of them appear too weak, too strong, or too perfect. The narrator does a good job slipping between American an Scottish accents as well.
