Publisher's summary

A USA Today best seller - Deception, book three of five in Aleatha Romig's Infidelity series.

"Infidelity - it isn't what you think."

It all began in Del Mar, a chance meeting with a single rule: one week only.

Or did it?

Lennox "Nox" Demetri and Alexandria "Charli" Collins had every intention of following their agreement, but rules are made to be broken. In Cunning, they were reunited, with Nox setting down new rules for the game and Charli having no choice but to follow them.

Now, once again, the game has changed. Nox and Charli's hot, sensual encounter has grown into something more, but it is threatened by secrets and regrets. Is it their love and intense sexual chemistry that's pushing them together or something darker, a puppet master behind the scenes pulling the strings on their love affair?

Shadowy villains lurk around each corner, and everyone is suspect as Nox's and Charli's pasts collide with the present and threaten to compel them back to their predestined fates.

Can deals brokered in the past be negated by something as pure as love and as steamy as the attraction shared by Nox and Charli? Or was it all a deception - starting with that very first meeting?

From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Aleatha Romig comes a sexy new dominant hero who knows what he wants and a strong-willed heroine who has plans of her own. With classic Aleatha Romig twists and turns, the depth of this epic romantic suspense series continues to reach new levels as past and present intertwine. The Infidelity series will have listeners swooning one minute and screaming the next.

Wow, feeling deceived. Another book in the series?

Would you listen to Deception again? Why?

No question that Aleatha is a tallented and creative writer. This will be my last book of hers if not a stand alone. I don't think authors realize that we read many books and by the time the next in a series comes out I have forgotten the pull for the plot and storyline. Often I may have several books that are incomplete due to a series. I understand this is a way of garning more income but it is not worth the break in the story to wait months or years for a next in the series. Also what is up with a 4th book? Really could not have been competed in 3?

What about Samantha Prescott and Brian Pallino ’s performance did you like?

Both are excellent performers.

Any additional comments?

An idea! if needed to garner more income why not release the series at the same time with serveral book? Still this series is not worth $40 if one is using credits.

Jaw dropping!

I’m so angry with how this ended but I can’t say that this book, this series hasn’t consumed my life. I need to know what happens next!

Amazed, enraged, and all around swept up in it!

Just as I was beginning to develop a modicum of respect for the strong choices these women make, they all go and get themselves into messes with men. Liars ALL, and Nox is no exception. Each one of these characters made some unbelievably stupid moves in this book, it's like they couldn't see the writing on the wall, didn't suspect that anyone could ever betray them. That's probably the one unrealistic and naive aspect of these women's personalities that don't match the way they were raised around backstabbing jackasses left and right. Now that I'm done ranting, I'll give my continued love for the series and the writing, while simultaneously continuing to condemn and praise the storyline. Other than the infuriating choices made by the characters, it was so artfully done I was totally swept up in it. The way these families are so intertwined with one another, how the parents of the protagonists have their own included stories, it was a thing of beauty. While I preferred Samantha's voice, Brian Pallino blew me away with his ability to do so many different voices of so many male characters and also make them each unique so I knew who was who just by his voice alone. This series should have a warning sign on it because damn it's good but goddammit it's so hard to listen to when these characters make these idiotic decisions. If you're this far in already, I'm sure you know this but this story is heavily plot driven rather than being solely about the romance between Nox and Alex, especially now that they're established in a "real" relationship. Now it's about all the forces that want to tear them apart. This series has had me on the edge of my seat since the beginning of it and for the amount of entertainment I'm getting, the credits are worth it. On to the next one!

Too Deceptive

Love the story and the plot, but do feel strung out when this or any series is drawn out for mere profit. Please authors, stop abusing your gifts for unnecessary profit.

Lots of Back story, but worth it.

I agree with other reviews that this book was a little slower paced than the first two, but I think it will be important to know the back story going forward. I was really excited that Laddie was going to stick it to Alton, but he’s obviously one step ahead of her. I really hope that someone takes him down soon.

While I felt this was a slower story, I’m still giving it five stars because this series is SO GOOD. It’s going to be any expensive listen when all said and done, but I am thankful that each book is 8 hrs plus. Too many authors drag their series out into three books that are only 5 hrs long and that feels like they are trying to take advantage.

A COMPLEX WEB OF DECEIT & AN ALL CONSUMING ROMANCE

Nox and Charli are still having a roller-coaster passionate romance due to the intricate web of secrets, mystery mail and family pressures that this book immerses them (and you) in. And yes, you do get to find out some of the answers to a multitude of questions that have cropped up since Del Mar but it also unearths a lot more mysterious plots, twists, deceptions, lies, manipulation and cold hearted behaviour by unsavory characters.

The intensity of Nox and Charli's romance reaches new heights as the lovers unite against their unknown and the known enemies... but one of the biggest problems is that Nox is still holding back a lot of information from Charli - especially the whereabouts of her bff Chelsea and the dangerous position that she is caught up in. Nox finally shares the heartbreak of what happened to his wife and Charli feels she can now trust Nox... but only time will tell if this is wise. He's still demanding, sexy, broody, jealous, intense and a controlling hot Alpha with a dirty mind and mouth and Charli is still willing to lovingly fit into his world.

Aleatha Romig has written a very intense, exciting, complex, compelling and intricate story... a story that initially brings two lovers together - and then she goes on to weave in layers upon layers of mystery, angst, drama, danger, suspense and shocks. The chemistry between Nox and Charlie is seismic and their love for each other is all-consuming - but, in order to protect each other, they do more harm than good and they're their own worst enemies.... and Charli frustratingly ends up in the Devil's clutches once more. Charli's Mother and Nox's Father have more to say in this story as their past connection is slowly revealed and Charli's Mother uncovers some shocking news... however she may not live long enough to act on it.

Worth a credit? Multiple POV's, great narration, some sex, an action-packed nail biting complicated storyline, an obsessive romance and a drool-worthy Hero. Yes it's ceditworthy BUT this is a 5 book long, complicated storyline and each book has been slowly released so, by the time the next book is out, you've forgotten the important finite details of the previous plots. Book 4 isn't due to be released until September and Book 5 isn't due out until next January which (for me) is a BIG disadvantage to this otherwise awesome listen.

Addictive series

This gets more and more exiting and I have trouble putting the book away. It's a plot that have you guessing all time; what's happening next......

The characters are well known to me now and I know I'm going to be sad to leave Alex and Nox.

No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and lots of dialogues, how can I not enjoy this.

And all the feelings...... the trust building between Alex and Nox is so emotional 😭

Another cliffhanger!!! So I recommend buying the whole series because you're going to want to after the first book.

Continues to intrigue me

This series has me all twisted with all these new revelations. Just when I think I've figured something out more comes at me. This series is well written and I can't wait to finish it. The only thing about it that I am not a fan of is the Southern whining. Although the southern accents are fine they just come across as whiney to me rather than dispair....or is it the same. Its like nails on a chalkboard but that is the only negative thing about the story. The narrator Samantha Prescott and Brian Pallino's inflection from one character to the next is awesome.
