Krysta is used to getting the drop on vampires. Her "special abilities" aren't much, but the plan is simple - she plays helpless pretty young thing to lure them in. Then her shoto swords come out and it's bye-bye, bloodsucker. Until one night she finds herself with an unexpected ally. He's a vampire, all right, but different. Mysterious. Handsome. And more interested in saving her skin than draining it. Etienne has been an Immortal Guardian for two hundred years-long enough to know that Krysta is special. He can't stop thinking about her long legs, even more than her short swords. Then he discovers the vamps she's exterminating have friends in high places, and the Guardians are in danger, too. He'll have to accept Krysta's help to save them. The stakes for a mortal are high. But the cost to his heart might be higher . . .

I am dyslexic! If it wasn't audible I would not even be able to know what's in a book. I found out I love books.
It's not boring it keeps going and there is no drag your leg time.z
The whole alien thing.
The narrator was really good and I didn't foresee any problems with her performance
If I listen to all of them at one time
I'm a lover of books, both read and audible.
First let me start by saying, I LOVE SHELDON! He made this book so enjoyable. Sheldon is Richart second and is very new to his position. But I will get back to him.
Ok now about the hero and heroine of this book, Krysta and Etienne. Krysta is a shoto sword wielding, butt kicking vampire hunter. She uses her special ability to see vampires’ auras to help her in her fight against them. That was the plan until she encounters Etienne, whose aura she has never seen or encountered before and it baffles her. Etienne has fangs like a vampire and his eyes glow but unlike the other vampires; he actually saves her instead of trying to kill her. So weird. Etienne is mistaken when he first rescued Krysta, thinking she was a second out hunting vampires alone. It wasn’t until after he saved her life and she treated him as a threat that he realized that Krysta had no idea who or what he was. Intriguing. He now makes it part of his nightly mission to follow Krysta and learn more about her and also to keep her out of trouble. Which is a hard task because Krysta attracts trouble like honey attracts flies.
The story is similar to the previous three, the two meet and at first it’s resistant between them because of who the other person is. But eventually, they find a common ground and form a bond. They eventually start hunting together and discovery that even though Etienne is over two centuries old and the very thing Krysta loathes, love can transcend anything. I’m still trying to understand the beef between Zach and Seth. That situation is becoming extremely interesting. Unlike the other three stories (four if you include the novella), Sheldon interacts more with the characters than before. He is still a side character but when he is involved in the conversation, it’s hilarious. The things that pop out of his mouth make the book so enjoyable. I found myself at times waiting for Sheldon to say something just to laugh at the timing of his comments and the things he says. Dianne writes him as a character who really doesn’t think before he speaks, ever. So funny. I hope he gets his own story even if it would be a short story.
Kristen is awesome as a narrator. Her voice really helps to add the extra element to every story. I love her voice. I have listen to several novels that she has narrated and I haven’t been disappointed yet. I don’t think she could do a bad read, even with a bad book it would still be damn good because of her.
Keep them coming Dianne. I have really enjoyed keeping up with the imortals. They are fun. And Kirsten is awesome with the different accents. Cant wait to see what is up with Zach. Thanks
I love the Immortal Guardians, but I think this book is just a repeat of Roland's and Bastien's story. It is very predictable and really not that exciting. Kristen Potter does an excellent job with the characters, but the story didn't really hold any surprises and the side stories with Marcus and Ami and Seth and Zach quite frankly held my interest more than the main story. If all the stories are going to follow this very formulaic path, I'm afraid I am going to lose interest pretty fast. Worth a credit if you are a fan of the series for the narration. If you are not a fan, I wouldn't start with this book.

What can I say, I'm a sucker for aliens. This series has mixed reviews but for some reason it got me from the first book and I got hooked on the interesting story about blood sucking aliens. Characters are totally cliché but the story is very interesting and the reader is giving every character a personality that sometimes lacks in writing. I would recommend this series for people who like to read paranormal romance.
Pleasure of the night. Good story not to raunch
Took a bit to adjust. She did a good job
Ending left un done? With no other books to follow.
I would totally recommend (and have) this book. I love the storyline, the heroine already kicking vampire butt, not knowing anything about the Immortal Guardian world. I liked the narrator, who brought the story to life, you simply get caught up in all the action, and bond with every character.
I like Christine Feehan Dark series and JD Tyer's Alpha Pack however, Darkness Rises and the other books in the series are so good the character so well developed that you can't wait to read what happens next. I just couldn't stop listening.
I've only listen to her performance in this series. Some narrators are made for a particular series. I love how she has brought each and every book in the series to life. I love every character
Some of the antics and charaters made me laugh, particularly the changing ringtones and the hero trying to use modern day slang.
I hope it's not a whole year before we get the next book.
The story, the twist, the direction. You can see and feel the evolution of Ms. Duvall and its FABULOUS! Don't know if I can say this is my favorite because DANG! I love them ALL!
I was talking back to the book! Laughing Out Loud at one part, Awwing at other parts it was just WOW!
That's definitely a hard one! Each character pass and present..... well you just "root" for them ALL!
******SPOILER ALERT****** the end nuff said.
Yeah! Must we wait for the next BOOKS! Cause I can easily see 4 more to follow! If NOT MORE! Please Ms. Duvall don't make us wait a YEAR!
I really like the overall theme of this series, and would be a great series if it would concentrate more on developing the storyline, and advance it further with each episode.
It's more of a paranormal romance series, getting a couple together with each installment. That gets boring in my book, leaving too many questions unanswered each time about who the Others are, what Seth is up to with his Immortals, what's Ami's real purpose, and just where this series is headed. Like I said, it could be a great series if it would advance the theme of the Immortals more, and concentrate less on the romance. It has some great characters, which I love to catch up on, and quite a bit of humor, but leaves too many loose ends each time, and this episode was just a repeat of the mercenary theme. We could use some new foes, (mercenaries, been there done that.)
Everything!!!!! It has HUMOR, SEXY STEAMY ROMANCE, AND MYSTERY.....
LOVE ME SOME SETH ;)
Worth the credit or to just buy..... I have this whole series in my library and listen to them over and over..... Cant wait for the next one, hope dont have to wait as long...
