One of my Fav!!

When listening to this series, I have bounced around on trying to decide which book is my favorite. I have listened to this series in order and out of order for months. What i can say is that I do keep coming back to this book more often than not. With that said, I do change my mind once in a while. Cole is utterly amazing in how she blends the books together. It was not until I had listened to the books over and over that you get to see where Nyx is and how she fits into every book. It is unbelievable how Cole has done this.

One last comment is that Petkoff is by far the best narrator I have ever listened to. His male voices are so sexy and his female voices are spot on. He has a different voice in sound, accent, and speed of talking in every book. I have had trouble trying to listen to anyone else because no one else can make the book into such an audible experience. It's like sitting in the living room with a movie playing but the screen is off. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I do.

Tied for Fave of Series: Audiobook Does JUSTICE!

If you could sum up Dark Desires After Dusk in three words, what would they be?

Erotic, Action-Packed, Cade.

What did you like best about this story?

CADEON! Ugh! I've ADORED him since I first read this book and every time she adds a new book, I find myself thinking, "OK...he's tied with Cade". It's so weird that he's my favorite, considering that I consider myself a Lykae {werewolf} Girl and Cade is a Demon, but damn his Good-Hearted Bad-Boyness is just so lovable and enticing. His is such a rugged seduction, so rough-around-the-edges and yet so sweet. And ROBERT PETKOFF does Cade such wonderful justice! Petkoff always does a great job with the males of the Lore, but I think he outdid himself with Cade - from the 'Sith Ifrican' accent to the way he talks to different characters, particularly the way he talks to Holly...PERFECTION!

Have you listened to any of Robert Petkoff’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to all of the IAD Audiobooks, of which Petkoff has narrated all but the first, and I think this is the BEST he's done.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Oh, I had an extreme reaction alright...IN MY PANTS! JK...ok, not really...jk...I'm TOTALLY serious!

The best of the Series

Would you listen to Dark Desires After Dusk again? Why?

I listened to it twice. The second time through I was picking up on the hints. I can't wait for the rest of the series.

What did you like best about this story?

To me it was the best in the series. Robert Petkoff has to be one of the bet Narrators ever. His different voices and accents are to die for.

Can this BadBoy make good?

This is not one of my favorites in the series. I was certainly looking forward to its release but not overly excited. But this book is sooo good, the audio did it for me. I thought the read was a little slow moving with the romance at first but BAM! it sure did pick up as the action did.

Cadeon is definitely one of the more human type immortals in this series. I think we all know a guy who kind of lives like him with the responsible and slobbery level. He has his crew of buddies. But nothing comes between him and his desire for his Holly.

I really like Holly shes too smart and just wacky enough to be part Valkrye. Smart enough to not jump into bed with that oh so yummy Cad. Until... Cadeon shifts gears and really inspires her with that voice and that body --- oh my you get the point. It's worth it.

Very good addition to the series :D

4 stars

This was a very good story. I liked both Holly and Cadeon and enjoyed seeing them get together. I will admit that from seeing Cadeon in past books I wasn't sure how I'd like him as a hero but her turned out to be a hero I really liked in the end.

Holly is a really smart woman but is more comfortable with numbers than people. She has OCD and takes multiple medications to regulate her "issues" and has been taking them since she was a kid. Holly was adopted but felt no lack of love from her adoptive parents. They've since died and now Holly is mostly alone except her boyfriend who she works with but their relationship is rather on the platonic side and doesn't involve any deep feelings.

Cadeon is a demon and the second son in line for the throne of his demon clan's realm. Cadeon's brother is supposed to be King of the realm but a bad sorcerer took over the throne (around 900 years ago) and he's almost impossible to kill. Cadeon made a bad decision at the time and it was partially what enabled the sorcerer take over. Although it doesn't sound to me like it was all Cadeon's fault, he still feels a lot of guilt (helped along by the opinion of others) and because of this he's sworn to do anything needed to get his brother's throne back.

Cadeon's brother contacts him, telling him they have a chance to get a sword that will kill the sorcerer that took over their realm's throne. They have to get a woman who is "the vessel"...aka she's destined to be the mother of a child destined to be born either the ultimate good or evil (depending on who the father is). A "vessel" is only found every 500 years (right before a big mystical time called the assention that comes every 500 years) and so people on both the good and bad side are trying to find her in order to get a baby on her for their side (good or evil). The problem ends up being that the woman that's the vessel believes she's human and knows nothing of her Valkyrie heritage. Another issue is that Holly (the woman that is the vessel) is also Cadeon's fated mate. Cadeon has known she's his for about a year but he believes she's human and it's forbidden to be with humans. Cadeon has watched out for Holly though and happens to see some demons grab her just about the time his brother calls to tell him about this woman called the vessel that they need. Cadeon soon figures out that Holly is the vessel and also part Valkyrie. Her Valkyrie half gets stimulated by the demon attack and Cadeon rescues her from further problems. Cadeon realizes that Holly is his and he can have her now but he's also been told under no uncertain terms that Holly is their only hope of getting the throne back and Cadeon has no choice other than to turn her in for the sword. Cadeon isn't happy about this at all but he hides his feelings and tells some tall tales in order to get Holly to go with him willingly. Holly isn't too happy about being a Valkyrie and is especially unhappy about being the vessel. She doesn't trust Cadeon but goes along with him because she thinks he's helping her because he's been hired to keep her safe.

There's an attraction between Holly and Cadeon but Cadeon can't really let on that he has deeper feelings for Holly so he lets her think he's just a player that's flirting with her because he flirts with everyone. He knows he can't claim Holly but Cadeon does want to get as much time and experiences with Holly that he can even though he knows it'll just make things more difficult on him later. There are some issues that block their progress, first of which is Cadeon's brother being captured. This leaves Cadeon responsible for everything and it means Cadeon himself will have to be the one to take Holly to exchange her for the sword. Cadeon and Holly have to travel long distances and their trip have some adventures as well as taking weeks worth of travel. During this time, Holly learns about her new state of being (although she wants to go back to being human) and she also realizes just how many of her "issues" growing up that she was put on pills to help were actually just caused by her heritage. Cadeon tries seducing Holly and doesn't have much luck at first. The attraction is there but Holly has a deep distrust of Cadeon for some reason (I'm not sure if I ever really understood her initial resistance to Cadeon). With some time he's able to attract her physically and eventually he shows he can be sweet and Holly realizes that maybe Cadeon is a decent guy (demon) after all. Things start going pretty well between Cadeon and Holly but then of course this prompts Cadeon to realize there's no way her can sell his woman out. Cadeon does try to find other options but things don't go well and Cadeon ends up having to make a play that caused Holly to think something that wasn't true. There is some major drama and Cadeon has a tough time trying to get things back on track between him and Holly. Thankfully, everything gets worked out and Holly and Cadeon are able to get their HEA.

This was a very enjoyable story. I really liked Cadeon and Holly (they made a good couple). The story wasn't perfect but I liked it and it was interesting from beginning to end. I'm looking forward to more from this series. I'd recommend this book. Thumbs up. :)

awesome

The Story was full of adventure and enthralling. I absolutely loved these two characters. Kresly Cole never fails to hold you captive with her writing skills and I never tire of Robert Petkoffs narration! I love his voice and how he brings all the characters to life. I laughed hysterically numerous times. An excellent read!
