Publisher's summary

When Nell Channing arrives on charming Three Sisters Island, she believes that she's finally found refuge from her abusive husband - and from the terrifying life she fled so desperately eight months ago.

But even in this quiet, peaceful place, Nell never feels entirely at ease. Careful to conceal her true identity, she takes a job as a cook at the local bookstore café - and begins to explore her feelings for the island sheriff, Zack Todd.

But there is a part of herself she can never reveal to him - for she must continue to guard her secrets if she wants to keep the past at bay. One careless word, one misplaced confidence, and the new life she's so carefully created could shatter completely.

Just as Nell starts to wonder if she'll ever be able to break free of her fear, she realizes that the island suffers from a terrible curse - one that can only be broken by the descendants of the Three Sisters, the witches who settled the island back in 1692.

Now, with the help of two other strong, gifted women - and the nightmares of the past haunting her every step - she must find the power to save her home, her love...and herself.

My favorite Nora Roberts story

I've read a number of Nora Roberts' books. This book and 'Northern Lights' are my two favorites. I also read the next two books in the series, although this one is still my favorite of the 3. Solid narration that clearly (and consistently) differentiates the voices of the female characters that dominate the story.

My rainy-day-vacation go to stories

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Have been in the good habit of downloading a Nora Roberts trilogy to my iPod before woodsy vacations, in the event of indoor weather, (with no TV or internet!) and I am not disappointed that I took this one along. Several cool rainy days with knitting needles clicking wiled away listening to this trilogy about strong women with special powers and the men they attract, set in what could be any remote coastal town.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dance Upon the Air?

I most remember the scene where Nell's estranged husband came to repossess her... you will have to listen to find out.

What about Sandra Burr’s performance did you like?

She is able to speak in so many styles - from formal to quite colloquial. She makes it easy to know which character is speaking at the moment.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nora's stories always stir me, on several levels.

Any additional comments?

Looking forward to another period of unobligated and unconstructed time where I can turn on the narration, fairly uninterrupted, and live another of Nora's trilogies.

My favorite audible book so far

What made the experience of listening to Dance Upon the Air the most enjoyable?

The witchy magic of the story and the inner strength and courage, Nell's transformation. I like book stores and cafes and I love to cook and bake so I think that appealed to me.

I like Nell's character growth and she is really likable. She is someone I would like to have lunch with.

What other book might you compare Dance Upon the Air to and why?

Nora's Bride Quartet but this book is better.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Nell asks for the job at the cafe and later when her and Mia shop and get a rocking outfit for Nell.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Nell overcoming her challenges. Don't want to give the book away.

Any additional comments?

This is a wonderful book and Burr's narration carries me away and I enjoy the story not get annoyed by her voice like some of the other narrators annoy me.
