"He owns you. Whatever he tells you to do, you do."
One year. No future. A past that won't go away.
Lennox "Nox" Demetri broke his own rule by making a deal. It may not have been directly with the devil, but that doesn't mean Satan himself isn't watching. Was it fate that brought Charli into his life and his bed? What will happen when rules are broken and secrets are revealed?
"New rules...my rules."
Alex "Charli" Collins found pleasure with Nox like she'd never known. That was before she knew his last name. Now that infidelity is involved and the rules have changed, what will result when real life and fantasy collide? Is it really cheating if you're doing it to yourself?

I love being swept away by a new romance and thankfully Audible's ever growing Library means I get to indulge myself over and over again
Charli didn't know what lay ahead for her now that she's the property of Nox for one whole year.... to do with her whatever he likes - but nothing could have prepared her for this very different version of Nox. Gone is the thoughtful kind lover from their time in Del Mar and in his place is a cold, ruthless and controlling version with many secrets and an untouchable and unspoken past. But just when Charli loses all hope of ever seeing the nice side of Nox again he surprises her yet again.... and continues to confuse and shock the ever lovin Hell out of her with his revelations.
There's some things Nox wants Charli to know however there's A LOT that he's keeping back from her..... partly for her own good and partly for his benefit. His ruthless Father comes into the story to further complicate things and throws a spanner in the works when he announces that, not only does he know exactly who Charli really is, but that he's also met her Mother. There's also a sub story told from her Mother's POV giving the backstory to her choices and life - which includes revelations, twists and a wicked plan that's centered around Charli's life and future.... a despicable plan that was brokered when Charli was just a child. The Chess pieces are starting to make their moves, lay their traps and sacrifice their pawns.... but who will be the victor, what will the cost be and when "check mate" is finally called which pieces will still be left on the Board???
I couldn't wait to jump right into this second instalment.... however N O T H I N G could have prepared me for the mind blowing revelations, the devious twists and the emotional roller coaster that this listen took me on. It's so well thought out with its tangled mixed up crazy web of a storyline... and, just when you think you're getting somewhere in the plot, AR throws in another spanner to toss things off course. You can't forecast or predict what'll happen next because this skilful Author has an endless supply of spanners that she randomly tosses into the mix and then you're, again, heading into the unknown.... holding on tight and praying for divine intervention.
Gripping storytelling at its very best, descriptive, addictive, explosive and scorching hot as well as being romantic, tender and touching at times too. There's a full cast of toxic, loveable and mysterious characters whose plans and destinies are yet to be revealed to us.... but whatever they are I know it's going to be a spectacular ride. Ends on another cliffhanger, dual POV's (but mainly Charli's), don't think of starting this book without first listening to book 1 and the narrators were pretty darn perfect.
Worth a credit? This is a 10 star listen that cost only 1 credit so Hell YEAH it was soooo worth using one on this absolutely awesome and addictive book.
This series keeps getting better and better! I love listening to my favorite books after I've read them. Nox, Charli and company do not disappoint in this installment!! I cannot wait for the next one...amazing Aleatha!!
In this second installment of the Infidelity series the author unveils more of the deep, dark secrets from the past. I enjoy the jumps from past to present, and the introduction of POVs from different characters. The plot twists just don't stop coming, and there were points when I'm sure I actually gaped in surprise. However, I am disappointed with the development of Charli and Nox's relationship. They profess to be crazy about each other, but won't trust each other enough to confide. And there seems to be a lot of unnecessary drama surrounding this. I am also not a fan of the controlling, dominant that Nox becomes in this book. He claims to be teaching Charli a lesson for her lack of judgement in signing up with Infidelity, but he just seems to come off as a possessive jerk. And I am not opposed to BDSM in stories, but all of the talk of "punishing" and "spanking" just irritated me. I guess I was hoping for more of how they were in the first book, with the intimacy, and kink, growing from there. Even with my complaints, I still enjoyed this book and feel compelled to find out what happens next. And it looks like Nox and Charli are headed in the right direction, so looks like my next credit will go to book 3. I'm still not a fan of Brian Pallino's angry narration, but Samantha Prescott has grown on me. She does a great job switching between POVs.
Nothing like steamy and suspenseful. AR has another fabulous series to keep us wanting more.
Loved the narrators...the emotions are off the charts.
Yes, yes and yes! I loved Betrayal the first time I read it, but Cunning was the book that made me go crazy over Nox and Charli and the whole Infidelity series. All the details, the suspense, the ploting and the cliffhanger in this book were the fuel to my obsession to this series. So, of course I'd listen to it again. This is the second time I read/listen to it and I am sure I will repeat it later, because everything is adding up as the story goes on.
Only the books within the series could compare to this. But I was talking about how details are important in this series and only a series like Original Sinners by Tiffany Reisz would compare because the details from book 1 are important in book 8 and I'm sure the same will happen in this series.
Samantha was the narrator in Betrayal and I loved it. Her voice is stunning and goes perfectly with the personality of Charli's. But what sold me on her performance were Laide's chapters! Oh. My. God. The inflexion changed so much it really looked like it was another person talking. The souther accent was so marked and her posh attitude was accurately translated in Samantha's narration.
As for Brian, this was my "second" audiobook narrated by him. My first was Betrayal but his chapter was so short in it I couldnt experience the strength of his voice. But in Cunning, I had the full package with him. His performance for Nox was just perfection. He has a stong voice and sexy and smooth, just like Nox is. I couldnt think of anyone other than him to do Nox' performance.
YES!! Sadly it's too long so I couldnt but If I had the chance, I would totally do that. When the series is over I will relisten to all the audios one after the other and I'm sure I'll love it even more.
I loved Cunning from benning to end. I experience so many feelings while reading it: anger, love, desperation, disgust, fear and more. When I thought Charli was lost but when Nox' chapter started I could breath a little, but the tension while reading/listening to Cunning remained the whole book and that cliffy was so good but at the same time so bad!! I LOVED IT ANYWAY!! That made the wait for the next book so worth it.
Let those who you love know today, tomorrow is not promised! Life experience, Mishawn
I don't want to sound like a Child but I want the next book now! Alexandra's story is captivating. The different twists and turns throughout each book is mind-boggling yet hard to stop listening to.
It makes me want to know, do things like this really happen in family situations and in business? If so tell me more.
I've listen to other Aleatha's books and they all are as equally good. She really is an amazing author.
Cunning was one of my most anticipated reads of 2016. It did NOT disappoint! While Betrayal (Book 1) laid the groundwork, Cunning (Book 2) built the story. We got answers to some of our questions and were left hanging with many more. I was enthralled and enticed from the first chapter. Nox and Charli are a captivating pair, both with their own share of vulnerability and power. You can't help but root for them to solidify their place in each other's arms. However, the twisting, turning, ups and downs of this story are certainly not going to make it easy for them.
Sylvia Day's Crossfire Series comes to mind. Similarities with the two main characters probably causes me to compare with that. We have two flawed people, a chance encounter, a torrid affair and they become inseparable. It's a bit similar.
Well, I love listening to audiobooks because if you have a good narrator, they bring all the inflection and emotion you hear in your head when you read. It's another dimension to reading.
No, I can't single out a specific moment. This is a very captivating storyline! It's all great.
I highly recommend this book and series and all other Aleatha Romig books. Fans of romantic suspense should definitely enjoy this series!
I love the story but HATE the drama and the I CAN'T TELL YOU MY SECRETS PARTS! but I need to read the next because dadgummit I need to know if this shit is gonna hit the fan! Hahaha just feeling a little pissed with Alex and Nox right now!
every part of this book made me want to keep listen. it is a cliff hanger like no other but so much happens in this book think I need little break to process it all. In a good way. the story gets twisted so many time in such a creative way that keeps you guessing and smiling. can't wait for next 3 book.
yes, it is a good read with a good narrator.
the tone and set of their voices bring a real feeling of raw emotions to the listener.
