Publisher's summary

Orphaned and besieged, Princess Alesandra knew that only hasty marriage to an Englishman could protect her from the turmoil in her own land. To the amusement of her makeshift guardian, Colin, younger brother of the Marquess of Cainewood, the bold raven-haired beauty instantly captivated London society. But when Alesandra was nearly abducted by her unscrupulous countrymen, the fighting instincts that won Colin a knighthood for valor were kindled.

Deceiving himself that he wanted only to protect her, Colin swept her into a union meant to be a marriage in name alone...yet Alesandra's tender first kiss and hesitant caress ignited a wildfire in his soul. As the lovely princess dashed headlong into unforeseen dangers, Colin would follow, knowing he must claim her as his own forever. Now he would risk life itself before he would lose this sweet, tempestuous angel....

Great story! Awful narration.

I love this story and have read the books many, many times. This was my 1st time listening to the audiobook. I wish Ms. Garwood had used Susan Durden again, like she did for the 1st 3 novels in this series. Heather Wilds' mispronunciation of simple names, especially since they were the main 2 characters, and her poor overall narration abilities made it difficult to get through the book. If I hadn't already known what a great story it was, I would've turned it off.

Older Historical romance but still great.

Wonderful historical with snark, intrigue and all the feels. Last book in the series but can be read as standalone. Julie Garwood had such a way with these period romances.

Dolphin's Book.

I have always loved this series as a teenager and to this day it is still good. If you are looking for a light, regency romance that makes you feel good, this is the series to get. There are good times and some laughs in this book, but I will admit the plot was a bit thin. My favorite of the series is always going to be Lyon's Lady, but all the books are equally good. What to say about the narrator? She could have been good her regular reading voice is pleasant, BUT her accents are atrocious and she cannot pronounce way too many words that really make a difference. The name Colin being the worst mistake on both hers and the editors part, it is not pronounced Colon. I'm not sure why they changed the narrator when the first three books were the same, with this one being different. I usually can ignore the narrator and with this book she was overall good, with only a few cringe worthy parts.

Really good

I love Julie Garwood. Her humor in her romances plus the mysteries added make her story great.

As brilliant as all of Garwood’s books are

The narrator was odd...I had difficulty defining one character from the other...the tone was all so similar. And the way she pronounced Colin was just damned annoying...even if accurate. But plenty of giggles and enjoyment to go around

Strong but flawed H smart & sassy h ....love it!

Sexy, sweet , exciting interwoven with a murderer on the loose & a General out to abduct Alesandra.... not so on the edge that it keeps you anxious! Perfect for me.....only 4 stars on performance because Colin's brother Cain voice and character was not as powerful as it was in Guardian Angel . Love Heather Wild as narrator.

Great Story But..

Not finished yet, but had to share the one thing that jarred me. I actually think the narrator was ok. I concur that the incorrect pronunciation was annoying, but what whacked me out is Colin/Colon calling Alessandra « baby ». A 19th century man using a 20th century pet name?? I’m still weirded out.

I love Julie Garwood but wasn’t sure….

I love Julie Garwood period! I’ve listened to several of her audio books and love them. However, I was a bit thrown off by the narrator’s stern voice. More than a bit actually, I tried to return the audio book. I so loved reading the story and decided to give the audio another try. Then, another try. By then, I was hooked. So hopefully, you can give it a chance, too.

I loved the fact that I actually laughed out loud!

I loved the book and thought the narration was very good. I would love to hear another story narrated by her.
