Publisher's summary

Caleb is a man with a singular interest in revenge. Kidnapped as a young boy and sold into slavery by a power-hungry mobster, he has thought of nothing but vengeance. For 12 years he has immersed himself in the world of pleasure slaves searching for the one man he holds ultimately responsible. Finally, the architect of his suffering has emerged with a new identity, but not a new nature. If Caleb is to get close enough to strike, he must become the very thing he abhors and kidnap a beautiful girl to train her to be all that he once was.

Eighteen-year-old Olivia Ruiz has just woken up in a strange place. Blindfolded and bound, there is only a calm male voice to welcome her. His name is Caleb, though he demands to be called Master. Olivia is young, beautiful, naïve and willful to a fault. She has a dark sensuality that cannot be hidden or denied, though she tries to accomplish both. Although she is frightened by the strong, sadistic, and arrogant man who holds her prisoner, what keeps Olivia awake in the dark is her unwelcome attraction to him.

WARNING: This book contains very disturbing situations, dubious consent, strong language, and graphic violence.

On my toes.

The storyline was a bit slow to pick up but I'm glad because it gave you a chance to learn a little about the characters. it also did flashbacks to learn how Caleb came to be who he was today. now, I need to find part 2. Im extremely curious to see how this plays out and what Kitten decides to do.

Not the best

To me, this was a Fifty Shades of Grey "wannabe". I did not really like Fifty Shades of Grey either, but at least it was to be an apology for Fifty Shades of Grey. Can't explain it better than that.

I do not recommend it.

Not what I was expecting

I was under the impression from other reviews that this book would be more thtiller and less filler. i enjoy books that are dark, twisted and keep the reader guessing. while there was some dark and twisted parts it relied more on the graphic sex scenes than story. It ended up being more erotica than substance. It was entertaining to a degree but it was predictable. I would recommend this book for fans of 50 shades of Grey aka, women.

Hot Hot Hot

Surprisingly well written and performed. Male characters voice was a little off, but not enough to really detract from the performance.

Dark, disturbing, perverse…but I loved it!

I really wanted to hate this book, but in the end I actually loved it. I wonder what that says about me as a reader/listener? The subject matter of this book was seriously disturbing and made me extremely uncomfortable. There were many times I had to put this one down and could not revisit it for several days. There is abduction, beatings, rape and overall humiliation of another human being. How could this possibly be a love story? Perhaps I’m de-sensitized or nothing really shocks me anymore. No matter the reason, the author really pulls this one off. She manages to make the reader care for the hero and heroine. And despite all the horrible things Caleb does to Livvie, I still wanted them to end up together.

This was a very dark listen but it was well worth my credit.

Best Series I Have Ever Read!

See my full review under the second book: Seduced in the Dark, Dark Duet, Book 2. I was so enthralled with this book that I immediately bought the second one and listened non-stop for three days. I couldn't put it down! Not for the faint-hearted though. Some of the subject matter is very disturbing....but that's what held my attention as I bit my nails in anticipation!

morbidly entrancing

hotel is very well-told. It is a dark, erotic, entrancing story where you get to understand both points of view. The captor and the captive. As disturbing as some portions were it wrapped itself around my mind and pulls me into a dark place that I need to know what happens next. I actually bought both of the next two books before I even finish this one. Very well done!

Annoying - Another Audible Cliffhanger

The story is beyond mommy porn and also requires suspension of disbelief, though there are no vampires or lycanthropes.

My greatest complaint is that, like too many books on Audible, Captive in the Dark is only the first part of the story.
It is a half of the book. Had I known that detail, I would not have rented Captive in the Dark.
