Publisher's summary

Caleb is a man with a singular interest in revenge. Kidnapped as a young boy and sold into slavery by a power-hungry mobster, he has thought of nothing but vengeance. For 12 years he has immersed himself in the world of pleasure slaves searching for the one man he holds ultimately responsible. Finally, the architect of his suffering has emerged with a new identity, but not a new nature. If Caleb is to get close enough to strike, he must become the very thing he abhors and kidnap a beautiful girl to train her to be all that he once was.

Eighteen-year-old Olivia Ruiz has just woken up in a strange place. Blindfolded and bound, there is only a calm male voice to welcome her. His name is Caleb, though he demands to be called Master. Olivia is young, beautiful, naïve and willful to a fault. She has a dark sensuality that cannot be hidden or denied, though she tries to accomplish both. Although she is frightened by the strong, sadistic, and arrogant man who holds her prisoner, what keeps Olivia awake in the dark is her unwelcome attraction to him.

WARNING: This book contains very disturbing situations, dubious consent, strong language, and graphic violence.

A little disturbing but honest

What did you love best about Captive in the Dark?
The dark and sinister storyline. It unleashes desires women want to have and men want to experience.

What other book might you compare Captive in the Dark to and why?
None really, it's not like other smut novels, it's a unique plot. Possibly Beauty and the Beast, but that's a stretch.

What about Emily Durante’s performance did you like?
Her accent for characters was superb. The sweet wraspy voice she has is perfect to depict the innocence needed to convey such a wonderfully dark storyline.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There is a particularly hot scene somewhere in the middle that involves a mouth and a "traitorous button". I was listening to this on the metro and felt steam coming off my cheeks.

Any additional comments?
Sometimes the most sinister fantasies that would truly be scary as hell in real life are incredibly exciting to play out in your imagination. This book brings all of those dirty little thoughts to the surface. There are great elements of excitement as well. I LOVE Caleb's nickname for the captive. I won't give it away. I want more books like this. The taboo side of fantasy is rarely easy to find.

Superb

He’s a monster, but despite his past and her current situation he’s her hero. Caleb and Livie’s story begins with a smile but turns sinister as Caleb’s true intentions for Livie come out. Through it all, this girl brings out another softer side of Caleb, but his past is catching up with him and even though he wants to save her, in the end can he really?? Suspenseful and a must read!!

boring

I was hoping with such a dark subject matter, the writing and storyline would be better. turns out it's just a conflicted guy and conflicted girl, conflicting at the same time...tbh, it was hard to sit through and i only listen during car rides

A twisted tale that I loved, loved, LOVED!!

This book makes you honestly feel horror, disgust, pity, anger, lust, shame, hatred, love...I promise all types of emotions. It's dark, twisted and disturbing on so many levels but still I just could NOT stop!! At times, I really hated some of the things that happened, but the story was so intensely addictive that I couldn't help but love, love, love it!!! Captive in the Dark starts off with two men planning revenge. Caleb & Rafiq both seek the death of one man by the name of Vladek Rostrovich. But first Caleb has to secure a slave. The only way to get close to Vladek would be to enter a virgin slave into the Flower sale in Pakistan. Caleb has to get a girl & train her in six weeks, then go across the ocean to Rafiq in the middle east. Caleb finds Olivia. Olivia is young, beautiful, naïve and willful to a fault. She has a dark sensuality that cannot be hidden or denied, though she tries to accomplish both. Although she is frightened by the strong, sadistic, and arrogant man who holds her prisoner, what keeps Olivia awake in the dark is her unwelcome attraction to him...  I loved how honest she was with Caleb and how she would rebel against him. She had a true fighter spirit that could not beat out of her through the whole book. I won't give anything more away. You will just have to listen to this story without any expectations. I want to tell you how much I truly LOVED this story, and convince you all to buy this book.
