"Good book, Reader not so appealing"

The Born in-Trilogy is one of my favorites thus I also wanted it on my portable device in order to listen to it when I am on my way to work and back. But I was somehow disappointed by the reader. I think he makes Murphy Muldoon sound somewhat dimwitted which I think is a great pitty.
Furthermore I made the mistake of listening to "Fool" by Christopher Moore before where an excellent reader was hired which made the difference even more obvious.

    "An Irish Treat!"

I loved this series. Ireland and art seem to be theme of the trilogy and each sister has their own unique talent. This is my least favorite of the three because the story was a little more predictable and while I love a mystical twist in any book it seemed out of place here. That means 4 stars versus 5 I gave the others so still not to shabby. Murphy is a wonderful hero and a man any woman would swoon over. There is great continuity to see Rogan and Maggie and Brianna and Grayson's relationships and family grow. It was fun to witness the sister's relationships grow over time and touching to see their horrible mother's heart finally open some with the addition of the grandkids. A great trilogy and addictive.

"A Perfect Ending to a Great Trilogy!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would. I would only recommend this book as part of a great trilogy. One really needs to read the first two books in the series before reading this one. This book was a perfect ending to one of Nora Roberts most enjoyable trilogy's.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Born in Shame?

The ending. I thought I had predicted the ending and then she threw me a curve, but came together in the end for a perfect love story.

Which character – as performed by Fiacre Douglas – was your favorite?

    Murphy. In the first book,

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Pretty much. If I had time I would have, but I would have to put it down at times.

    Any additional comments?

    "Favorite book in the series"
Would you consider the audio edition of Born in Shame to be better than the print version?

I never read the print version

What did you like best about this story?

I love this series and I think this book is my favorite because you get to see the progression of Maggie and Brianna. I loved that most.

Have you listened to any of Fiacre Douglas’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't know if this is the same narrator as the first two but if so this was alot better, but still not good.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Maggie and Shannon began to form a relationship. I loved to see the relationship between the female characters grow throughout the book.

    Any additional comments?

I really liked this book but I think Nora Roberts could have done a better job developing the Murphy character. In this book she made him seem clumsy and ackward but that was the sense in the other books. I will say that all Nora Roberts books typically end the same but the good part is seeing how the character get there.

    "Good read!"

This is a great romance trilogy. Wish they would have had an epilogue capping all three story's. Regardless I will recommend this book to my friends.

    "Fantastic Book with Excellent Narration"

I loved the trilogy. The narration was excellent. The Irish brogue added to the allure of the book. Excellent listen.

    "Great story"

The reader did better with the American accents. It was sometimes hard to distinguish one Irish character from another.

I enjoyed the story. Well written and added a nice finish to the trilogy.

"As good as the rest of the series"

This trilogy is vintage Nora Roberts. The characters are all interesting and I was interested to see how things would play out.

Because it is the third in the series, I was already invested in the core characters. I already liked them and could anticipate how they would behave in certain circumstances. And I like the comfortability that comes from reading a trilogy.

Fiacre Douglas' performance did not add to my enjoyment of the story. He is not the best I have ever heard..and considering Nora Roberts' status in the romance genre, I am surprised that the producers don't find the very best narrators for her works.

"Loved this series & loved the narration"
If you could sum up Born in Shame in three words, what would they be?

    Really really good ;)

What other book might you compare Born in Shame to and why?

Other really really good Nora Roberts books ;) lol

What does Fiacre Douglas bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    The accent and experience.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    n/a

    Any additional comments?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. At first I wasn't going to buy the series because of all the comments regarding the narration, but the sample was fine by me - so I went ahead, and am very happy I did. I loved the narration with an irish accent - and every part of the way he told the story. I love the way Nora Roberts writes, she always leaves you with knowledge to walk away with - I love that.
