Ever since he saved Dr. Mackenzie Grant's life, panther, shifter, and sorcerer Kalen Black has had trouble keeping the beautiful doctor out of his thoughts and his heart. The brush with death awakened an intense passion between them - one that for the first time had the notorious loner letting down his guard. With the Alpha Pack battling an evil Fae who is slowly gaining control over Kalen's mind, Kalen can no longer trust his own actions, and he breaks off his affair with Mackenzie in order to keep her safe. But when Mackenzie learns that she is carrying Kalen's child, no amount of danger will keep her away from the man she loves. Contrived drama

Book 3 was full if contrived drama...lots of talk, not a lot of action, and full of misunderstandings. Overall it took me 4 tries to finish the book, I kept getting bored of rolling my eyes. I had to listen to it because I'm hoping book 4 will be back up to par and I didn't want to miss anything. Overall I wish this book had only been about 2.5 hours, so fast forward to that point and all will be well.

Meh, pretty predictable.

This story was OK. It was so just Ok that I don’t have much to say about it. Honestly, I’ve gotten bored with this series and doubt I will go on with it.

INTENSE!

This one left me on the edge of my seat as Kalen faces his possible end and the pack's end. I really liked this book, despite how much it frustrated me. Kalen made me so angry with his constant ignorance and bad decisions, but considering everything he has been through you begin to understand where he is coming from. I gained a new appreciation and some respect for Kalen as his past was revealed.

As he struggles through overcoming his temptation to evil and despite trying to say away he falls hard for Dr. Mackenzie, who you could tell had eyes for him from the moment they met. And in the end it is only Mac who can help him through this, but whether he overcomes this evil is up to him. Just when you think Kalen can overcome, you are continually surprised over and over!

Can't wait for the next one!! Bring it on! :)

love it

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Beside putting a fourth book to it no.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Black Moon?

Kaylin finding out Mac's pregnant...from her dad!

What does Kirsten Potter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like Kirsten potter's reading the books but damn she really gets into it.

Did Black Moon inspire you to do anything?

I'm trying to write a book of my own.

Any additional comments?

The book series is amazing but it feels like there should be more story's for the others in the book.

Plot Twists and Turns... even Frustrates

Earlier reviewer truly nailed it when she said..."I don't think I have yelled at a character in a book so much in my life." Stories take us on the journey... however, few are willing to let the bad guys win or at least seem to. Kalen's character is conflicted throughout the story and there may even be times you find yourself cursing his choices/actions. Nevertheless, it's addicting!

Though the first two books were good, the 3rd installment is definitely in a different league. Enjoyable paranormal romance!

Exasperatingly Good

As with other books in this series so far, the author pulls you in so quickly and deep, you're inclined to try to help the characters through each hurdle. Good stuff.

"SO LAME"

What would have made Black Moon better?

Maybe if he had resisted evil throughout the book instead of at the very end and if it had a better herione it would have been better

Has Black Moon turned you off from other books in this genre?

no I like this genre

Would you be willing to try another one of Kirsten Potter’s performances?

Sure, I guess the narrator can only work with what she is given

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No, I expected more after the first two books

Unfulfilling at best

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Not much, to be honest. I listened the whole way through simply because I'd invested so much time in the other stories already. I spent most of my listening experience rolling my eyes and watching the timer count down.

What could J. D. Tyler have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Backing off on the campy, hokey dialog would have gone a long way towards improving the story. It just wasn't as strong as the first two books. I get that Kalen's growing sense of distance from the pack means there wasn't the same opportunity for the usual banter and wit that I enjoyed in the other stories, but this was just too much. Every time Malik opened his mouth I kept thinking, "it can't possibly get worse...". But it did. Hard to react appropriately to a bad guy's actions when you can't keep a straight face.

Would you be willing to try another one of Kirsten Potter’s performances?

Yes. I really like Kirsten Potter in general but didn't care for this one at all. It was over the top, which was made all the worse by campy, predictable dialog.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Definitely disappointment. I loved the first two books! This one just fell way, way short. I hope the next one is better. One not so great book definitely isn't enough to throw me off a series, narrator or author I otherwise really enjoy.

Poorly developed story line.

What would have made Black Moon better?

Kallen and Mac could have stopped taking turns throwing childish tantrums and storming out of rooms. Everytime there was a little bit of drama....it ended up falling flat. And you ask yourself is that it. This book needs a serious rewrite.

Has Black Moon turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. Only because Savage Wakening in this series was very good. I'm stumped on how you can write one really good book and the next one is suck so poorly. I wouldn't believe it could be the same author.
