Publisher's summary

Harper

I was perfectly content with my life. My career was booming. I traveled. I did as much charity work as I possibly could for the homeless, and I was perfectly happy with the choices I'd made.

At least...I was - until my sister, Dani, came up missing. As an international correspondent, she traveled to war-torn countries, and she'd stepped a little too far over the line. With my sibling kidnapped and running out of time, I had no option except to approach Marcus Colter for help.

Seeing Marcus again after having him break my heart over a decade ago wasn't easy, but to my relief, the old feelings I thought I might still harbor for him were completely gone. He was like a stranger to me. After meeting with him, my only emotion was gratitude that he was going to try to rescue my sister.

Before I could relax about feeling nothing for Marcus, I met Blake Colter, and realized every emotion I thought I'd have for Marcus was suddenly present for the gorgeous US senator.

It was ridiculous. I hadn't seen Blake since we were kids.

How could I have given myself to Marcus so many years ago, yet have these feelings for his twin brother, Blake?

The more time I spent with Blake, waiting for my sister to be rescued, the more confused I became about my attraction to him.

Then, my entire world came crashing down when I found out that everything I thought was true for over a decade wasn't the truth at all.

What happens when a woman finds out that a man she'd both loved and hated for over a decade never really existed at all?

Stop using the word “female”!

What is with this author using the word “female” instead of woman!?
This is the second book I’ve read from her and I had hoped it was a fluke or character thing in the last one. But literally in the first sentence of this book the lead uses the world female instead of woman to describe someone he does not like!

“"Female" is a scientific term that refers to the sex of a species that is capable of producing children. The term "woman" refers specifically to human beings, while "female" could refer to any species.
Reducing a woman to her reproductive abilities is dehumanizing and exclusionary.

When you refer to a woman as a female, you're ignoring the fact that she is a female human. It reduces a woman to her reproductive parts and abilities.”

If, as an author, you want to use the word in a grammatically correct way, the word female is appropriate as a description word. “Female lead” “female author” “female firefighter”.
But just using it instead of woman “female he had sex with” “female I don’t like” is not ok. I don’t read romance novels to be belittled by the patriarchy. I have every day life for that.

This author needs to be more respectful of women.

Sudden shift to first person narration...

I have read the other books in this series and they were all from the third person perspective. This one randomly shifts to first person and I don't understand why. The third person works s much better. Other than that it's basically the same story. Hopefully Marcus will be more interesting.

Fantastical and ridiculous

I have listened to several books in this family but they seem to get more ridiculous each time. I was eager to hear Blake’s story and he was rather boring after Zane(he was the only unique so far and not wholly) because she rights these folks personality so close to the same. I really want to know the other twins story but I don’t think I can stomach the female character. Just the parts she play in this one made me want to smack her. All of these are extremely far fetched which usually doesn’t bother me but this one hit ridiculous,
a lot. There are some good parts or I wouldn’t have finished but it was with a lot of eye rolling that I muttered through.

Blake finally gets his Woman

Confusion, miscommunication kept them apart for 12 years. Can you keep true soul mates apart, with this couple you can't. They find each other and start a new. The narrator is awesome and brings the characters to life. This series has been wonderful to read, the character are intertwined which gives you glimpses as to what is continuing on.

Ms. Scott knocked a Home Run

What made the experience of listening to Billionaire Unknown the most enjoyable?

Elizabeth Powers is a super Reader. She can express the meanings of the printed word better than anyone I have listened to & I listen to a lot of audio books. She made it terrific to listen to.

What other book might you compare Billionaire Unknown to and why?

I don't believe you can compare this book with any other simply because it was unique. I haven't read or listened to any book close to this one. Oh, there are other books that are great on their own but this one was special to me.

Which scene was your favorite?

Where Harper finally tells Blake the real reason she kept running away from him. That scene was so poignant as to make me proud of her for having the courage to admit her love for him & risk it all to tell him the truth.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The Greatest Love of All Time.

Any additional comments?

Just a beautifully written book. I highly recommend this book as it had the right amount of sex & a terrific love for a lifetime. Even though it is fiction, it is totally believable that this could actually happen although 12 years lost because of a misunderstanding is an awfully long time.

Awesome story.

The only thing that would have made it better was a male narrator for Blake's part.

Holy Misunderstanding!

Billionaire Unknown is a prime example of the importance of introducing yourself when you have an identical twin - unless you would like to risk a huge misunderstanding! Blake and Harper's story is fun, steamy, romantic, and quite touching. I was thoroughly entertained listening to this audiobook. I cannot wait to download the next story in the series!

Blake & Harper’s Spicy & Sweet Heartwarming Story

Their Instant Love Story Is A Feel-Good Read. Another Great Story About The Colter Family Of Colorado.

This is the tenth book in The Billionaire’s Obsession series. Books one through five are centered around Tampa, Florida. Book six is a bridge between The Sinclairs series and this series, but it also shifts the series to Colorado. Here the series continues in Colorado with Blake Colter and Harper Lawson. It also continues Marcus’s story, which has been building in trickles and is the next book in the series.

The Colter family is well-known for their good looks, genius IQ’s, and billionaire status. Widow Aileen Colter runs the family’s Rocky Springs Resort. Her late husband Russell had died in the 1990’s in an incident while traveling in the Middle East. The oldest sibling Marcus took over for his father, overseeing most of the Colter Corporation’s vast holdings and is often away on business. His twin Blake is a US Senator, sometimes referred to as the cowboy senator in reference to his cattle ranch. Zane works as a research doctor in biotechnology out of Denver. Chloe is the baby sister. She has recently graduated from vet school.

Tate Colter and Lara Bailey find love in Billionaire Untamed, book seven. In their suspenseful story, an ex-SEAL meets his match in a tough as nails FBI agent.

Billionaire Unbound, book eight, is Gabriel Walker and Chloe Colter’s story. It is a best friend’s little sister story with a serious tone. Gabe and Chloe’s story is about surviving and thriving following domestic abuse. Leading into the next book, Chloe’s ex-fiancé James admits before committing suicide to kidnapping Chloe’s best friend Ellie over six months ago. Ellie’s whereabouts are unknown.

Zane and Ellie’s story in Billionaire Undaunted, book nine, is about picking up the pieces after living in the face of evil. Zane Colter, who lives inside of his science bubble, snaps into action when Ellie Winters goes missing. Ellie finds hope and healing after living in captivity.

In this book:

Blake Colter, thirty-four, is serving the people of Colorado as their US Senator. The kind and sweet Colter twin had just completed his doctorate degree in animal genetics when he recognized that the people’s needs were not being met by the incumbent. He ran and won the senate seat. As a billionaire, he does not need to work for personal gain and he takes his responsibility as a representative to heart. He lives in a home in Georgetown while the Senate is in session, but he loves returning home to his ranch. His passion is breeding a healthier line of cattle. With his busy schedule, travelling, and devotion to both his professions, Blake’s lifestyle is not conducive to having a woman in his life. He does not have time to get emotionally attached. Some might observe that he is lonely, even if he doesn’t see it himself. There was one woman that he had felt a connection to once, but that was twelve years ago.

Harper Lawson, thirty, is passionate about helping the homeless. She attended Berkeley’s architecture program in California and by luck became known in a niche that keeps her work in high demand. She blends the old with the new, preserving historic buildings while incorporating new development. Her work has her travelling the country. She also puts her skills to work designing more simple facilities. She works to design buildings that serve the homeless. She lives a simple lifestyle by choice, knowing how lucky she is in comparison to those in need.

The Lawson family came from a town nearby Rocky Springs and they were longtime family friends of the Colters. Matriarch Aileen Colter had been best friends with Mrs. Lawson prior to her passing; the two were like sisters. Although the children had been enrolled in different school districts, they had varying levels of familiarity with one another. The Lawson children sold their parents’ home and moved away following the accident seven years ago, finding it too difficult to remain behind. Harper is the second youngest in the Lawson family. She, her twenty-nine-year-old sister Danica, and their three older brothers – Mason, Jett, and Carter – inherited their parents’ vast wealth when their parents died.

Harper had been a handful in her youth. She was spoiled and obnoxious. But when her parents finally put their feet down right before her eighteenth Christmas, stripping her of her privilege, she foolishly ran away. She had found her way to Denver and was homeless in the middle of a snowstorm on Christmas Eve. She quickly learned the meaning of shame and learned the hard way to be thankful for all she had. Someone had come to her rescue that evening. It was an unforgettable night, and twelve years later she still reflects back on it, despite her conflicted feelings. She has grown tremendously since that time – and is now known amongst her brothers as the quiet sister.

Marcus Colter, thirty-four, travels the world while running the Colter enterprise. He is a cold and emotionless control freak. His family now knows that some of his activities are of a covert nature. It helped bring Lara into the family, but that event also caused a lot of worry for his loved ones. But they don’t know everything he has been up to. He recently involved his twin Blake as a means to cover him in some of his absences. Nobody else knows, and it needs to stay that way. When family friend and irritating reporter Danica Lawson goes missing in Syria, he calls his twin Blake and starts making plans.

Blake and Harper’s tender and emotional story is about second chances in love and life. They have incredible chemistry together, but twelve years is a long time and people change. Blake is dreamy – smart, charismatic, hard-working, and devoted. Harper is so subtle she could blend into the background. She is a portrait in humility. She has done a complete one-eighty since her youth, devoting herself selflessly to helping others. While Marcus’s story simmers in the background, Blake and Harper finally come face to face again. Their reunion is heartwarming and the couple earns their HEA.

For those that pay attention to detail, some details in the series do not line up perfectly from book to book. This book picks up in late winter, probably four to six months after the last book left off based on Blake’s age (and that Zane and Ellie were probably married in the fall). Marcus had just recruited Blake to stand-in for him for the first time during that epilogue. There are two timestamps. First, Blake is thirty-four here, and in the last book he was roughly thirty-three or thirty-four. Additionally, Lara has one year left of college in this book. With her prior career in the FBI, she almost certainly had a degree already when she went back to school. It is unclear whether she is earning a second degree or a graduate degree, nor how long that program was expected to take to complete. We do know that Blake has stood-in for his twin multiple times by the time this story begins.

Trying to picture the family and their ages can be tricky. Based on facts pieced together here and in the previous Colter stories, here is a summary of the approximate ages of the Colter kids as this story begins: Marcus and Blake, twins – thirty-four, Zane – thirty-three, Tate – thirty-two, and Chloe, thirty-one.

Blake and Harper’s heartbreaking story is sweet and spicy. Their instant love story is a feel-good read. Another great story about the Colter family of Colorado. It is a light, quick read. The story is well-written and plot-driven. Marcus’s storylines adds an element of excitement. The characters are well-developed. The story is written in third person. The POV alternates between Blake and Harper, with two sections in Marcus’s POV. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

As for the Audio: it is very well-performed and consistent with the book.
