Publisher's summary

An alluring laird....

He was known throughout the kingdom as Hawk, legendary predator of the battlefield and the boudoir. No woman could refuse his touch, but no woman ever stirred his heart - until a vengeful fairy tumbled Adrienne de Simone out of modern-day Seattle and into medieval Scotland.

Captive in a century not her own, entirely too bold, too outspoken, she was an irresistible challenge to the 16th-century rogue. Coerced into a marriage with Hawk, Adrienne vowed to keep him at arm's length - but his sweet seduction played havoc with her resolve.

A prisoner in time....

She had a perfect "no" on her perfect lips for the notorious laird, but Hawk swore she would whisper his name with desire, begging for the passion he longed to ignite within her. Not even the barriers of time and space would keep him from winning her love. Despite her uncertainty about following the promptings of her own passionate heart, Adrienne's reservations were no match for Hawk's determination to keep her by his side.

Great Scot! Don't miss our other titles in the Highlander series.

Critic reviews

"Phil Gigante's handling of the prose in Moning's clever paranormal romance is smooth and engaging, but it is his character voicings that truly make this recording one to remember." (AudioFile)

The first book I read from Karen Marie Moning

This is a spellbinding book that makes me want to keep driving I listen to it on my way to work and back and I love the highlander I just wish there were still men like this in todays world. Phil Gigante is a great voice for all the characters and makes the story come to life. Thanks both to Karen Phil and Audible for making a lonley woman dream of a better life out there. I helps to take my mind off of the problems I face they take me to another time and place where women are cherished and treated like a woman should be treated. Not where they are taken for granted and used up and then discarded like last weeks garbage to make room for another.

A girl who is abused meets a man who was used. The narrator was awesome. Enjoyed the story couldn't stop listening once I started.

Phil Gigante is exceptional

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I don't recommend books but, for fellow Audible listeners who have never heard a male narrator who can manage female characters, Phil Gigante can, and does.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Predictable but still enjoyable.

Have you listened to any of Phil Gigante’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my first Phil Gigante listen. It won't be my last.

Was Beyond the Highland Mist worth the listening time?

Yes. I just ordered the second in the series, just to hear more Phil Gigante and the lovely silliness of the story.

Any additional comments?

Good listen. It's fluff to be sure but, good fluff is worth noting.

I Could Listen to this on Repeat

This book introduces an amazing fictional world, rich in history and legend. The characters reach out and grab readers into thier story, and the voice of the narrator takes that story and heats it up to a whole other level. During some of the steamier scenes, my toes absolutely curled in delight. Phil Gigante is the best.

Soooo good!

The narrator is flawless. His brogue is phenomenal. Loved every second of Karen Moning's captivating erotic Highland love story with a fanatical twist. I've listened to every one of her books in this series (and her 'Fever' series) and I have to say this was an amazing kickoff to a truly thrilling series.

Interesting and Different

I can't imagine accepting so easily a trip back in time so drastic, even if I was from such a mysterious place as New Orleans. I liked Hawk, I hated the smithy and poor Adrienne was just a confused mess. Good sensual parts, none of the physical fighting I expected but mostly fighting of emotions, wants and needs. The book was entertaining though I probably won't go for the rest of the series.

Phil Gigante does another wonder series !

Where does Beyond the Highland Mist rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This one sits right near the top of my favorites. While not a great fan of the Scots, I do love the way Phil makes you see these wonderful people. The story line as well as the emotions and characters are so real.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Beyond the Highland Mist?

When the heroine finally concedes to truly love her highlander is such a wondrous feeling. While lowest is equally felt when he loses her. Oh, the pain.

Which character – as performed by Phil Gigante – was your favorite?

He actually did a fabulous job as the Adrienne, the wife of the highlander.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Time travel to find love is forever a passion we can all dream of.

Any additional comments?

I have only begun the series and I cannot wait to get to the rest.

Good Story

I liked the story and the people very well. I also liked the narration for the most part. Except for the attempt of a new Orleans accent which was pretty bad. Mostly the female voices were fine for me. The voice for Tavish made me laugh. I thought he sounded like he was from India. But it wasn't enough to ruin the story.
