The follow-up to the runaway best sellers On Dublin Street and Down London Road

Despite her outgoing demeanor, Olivia is painfully insecure around the opposite sex - usually, she can't get up the nerve to approach guys she's interested in. But moving to Edinburgh has given her a new start, and, after she develops a crush on a sexy postgrad, she decides it's time to push past her fears and go after what she wants.

Nate Sawyer is a gorgeous player who never commits, but to his close friends, he's as loyal as they come. So when Olivia turns to him with her relationship woes, he offers to instruct her in the art of flirting and to help her become more sexually confident.

The friendly education in seduction soon grows into an intense and hot romance. But then Nate's past and commitment issues rear their ugly heads, and Olivia is left brokenhearted. When Nate realizes he's made the biggest mistake of his life, he will have to work harder than he ever has before to entice his best friend into falling back in love with him - or he may lose her forever…

Lessons In Love, Loss, & True Beauty

Overall this was a great story and beautiful romance. My primary criticism of the story was that the first several hours were anti-climatic for me. I'd been looking forward to this book because I LOVED book 1 and after Nate and Olivia were introduced in book 2 I knew with certainty that their story would knock my socks off. When I didn't have fireworks and sizzling ears like I was expecting, I was sure my review would be completely negative. Well obviously based on my 5 star rating it really picked up!

The progression of this story was more subtle than the others so it was different for me, I wanted these two to realize they were meant to be--like immediately--and it just wasn't that. Nate wasn't the alpha male I've come to know and love, knocking heads off and blowing a gasket because he saw 'his woman' with someone else, things were far more subtle between these two as things progressed. It was emotionally charged, funny, and totally totally one of the sweetest stories ever. I would immediately buy any books from Samantha Young in the Adult Romance genre, and most especially any additional On Dublin Street stories. I love this series and highly recommend it.

Awesome!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! I loved the story! It was believable and sweet. It was good to change it up from the mega wealthy, gorgeous messed up guy in his twenties falling for an average Jane who has no idea she's attractive (not that I don't LOVE those stories)

What other book might you compare Before Jamaica Lane to and why?

Fifty Shades, without the BDSM and $$$.

Which scene was your favorite?

I don't want to spoil the story, so I'll keep it to myself. However, it would be hard to choose, anyway. Loved the book!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! It was hard pausing it. Good thing I started the book early in the day and only had to pause a few times and was able to finish it my about midnight! Worth going past my usual bedtime. Loved it!

Perfection!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Love this series! I really enjoyed Olivia & Nate's story. These two are adorable together. Samantha Young brought their characters alive. They were perfect together, great chemistry... it just took them awhile to realize it.
This book made me feel. I sighed, swooned, got giddy, laughed, got upset with Nate, cheered Olivia on, cried & fell in love with these two & their friends. Simply beautiful! Pulled on my heart strings & left me with a happy & contented smile. Samantha Young reminds me again & again why I love books a lot!
This will be on my faves & reread/ re listen list, for sure! Fantastic listen!
Angel Lee did a great job narrating it, too. Awesome!

Another great addition to the series!

This book was fairly predictable but still a great book from beginning to end. I love the banter between Olivia and Nate! The narration was remarkable! This book is well worth the credit

Loved the story!!

This is the first time I read/Listened to any Samantha Young books. I listened to the first one in the series On Dublin Street and enjoyed it very much, even the Narrator was ok with the accents. However, the accents and the different voices for this narrator was not great. It's a shame that this author does not keep the same narrator for all her books. I truly enjoyed the story, very well written and in some cases heartbreaking. As I was listening to this second book in the series I noticed I had missed a lot of other relationship discussions. I felt like I had skipped several books.
That's when I logged into the actual web site of Samantha Young and found out that there are 2 previous books prior to Before Jamaica Lane. the 2nd book in the series is Down London Road and the 3rd is Until Fountain Bridge. The 4th book is Before Jamaica Lane.
I'm not sure if this is an Audible.com Issue or Samantha Lane wanted them added in the system this way. I am one of those Audible listeners that when I listen to the first book and enjoy it I log into the the Series, click on the word series and down load all the books from the series. I have listened to over 300 books. But the two books mentioned above are not added in the list of the series so I did not purchase them. Nor will I purchase them now.
I gave this book a 4 star overall because I was not impressed with the narrator. But this is a great book and worth the credit.
