Publisher's summary

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sylvia Day comes the first novel in the Crossfire series - a provocative masterstroke of abandon and obsession that redefined the meaning of desire, and became a global phenomenon.

Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness...

He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily...

Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds...and desires.

The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn’t tear us apart...

interesting read

i was a bit taken aback when i realized what the real subject matter of this story was. it is a world i know absolutely nothing about but the author wrote it in such a way that i became interested in the characters and their dysfunctional lives and wanted to know the out come of it. well that didn't happen in this book, realizing it is a series i was of course prompted to obtain the next book which i have yet to read. this one however the author gives you no choice but to purchase the next book if you do as i did and start to care about the characters and wonder if they can work through their problems. if you have a problem reading about sex, or intimate sexual activity between the main characters of a book i highly recommend you do not get this book because there is a whole lot of it, maybe too much in fact, if there could ever be too much?
the narrator also did a very good job in the reading of this story.

My First "Erotica" book-I was not disappointed

This was quite intense, a good plot and hot sex. Some have compared this to 50 Shades which I have not read.

LOVE

I can listen to this book over and over and over. WOW. Gideon and Eva's story is a wishful tale one could only dream of and I envied every minute of it. Ms Sylvia Day you are amazing. However the female narrator attempts a man's tone /voice for the male characters and it's not very convincing. I wish they had a real male narrator to speak Gideon's voice. Other than that 5 stars! Thanks to Sarah Rae Vargas for the recommendation

Blatant Shades of Gray copycat

Story lacked a viable plot, simply repeating sexual escapades in an unconvincing relationship between two sexually abused individuals, without resolving any of their key issues. Hollow and unfulfilling.

It takes too long to get to the point

If you are going to contain abuse in your novel you have to make that clear in the beginning. One thing I will say about 50 shades is it was made pretty clear that Christian had that history. Calling a book 50 shadesesque does not require it to contain abuse. I like books on the subject matter of BDSM and romance that did not include abuse as the reasoning behind the individual or individuals being interested in such subject matter.

HOT....HOT....HOT....!!!!!!!!

What made the experience of listening to Bared to You the most enjoyable?

The story was interesting but the narrator takes the story to another level. The talent of Jill Redfield is awesome. She made the characters real and interesting.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bared to You?

One of the most memorable moments was when Gideon attack Ava after a horrible nightmare. After the situation calmed. They held and consolved each other and he cried until morning. The cause of the nightmares was never revealed in the book but it was eluded to. It just makes the reader aware that no matter who you are, everyone hurts.

Which character – as performed by Jill Redfield – was your favorite?

Gideon was by far my favorite charactor. He has swagger. He has power and authority. He has style and finesse. He is educated, wealthy and fit. He has a commanding personality and at the end of it all, he is fragile, insecure, and vulnerable. He is human.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me laugh. It made me cry. I was frustrated, curious, envious. I was all over the board with emotion.

Any additional comments?

Bared to you is rich in characters who are real and fractured. I found myself captured by this recording.

Bared to you is an interesting listen, but is very steamy. If you that's not your cup of tea, you may want to pass on this one.

This was a great, great listen!!

Made me feel better about my own mental health!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would power down on the crazy town!

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

They finally started acting a little more normal and the book ended! I didn't want the next one until then. Now I will listen to the next just to see if they go a little more normal or crazy town returns.

Which character – as performed by Jill Redfield – was your favorite?

I really liked the room-mate! I think I might have liked it better if I read it (very rare to feel that) because I wouldn't have imagined Gideon quite so freaking intense and when he says her name it would have been more loving and not crazy.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

If Kate Hudson where Eva an Josh Holloway as Gideon and we went 50% less on the intensity.

Any additional comments?

While the performance was really good, it would have been better if Gideon was not performed so intense. When he calls her name in passion 'wanting/ urgent' would have been better than 'crazy/ pained'.
