Bad Rep | [A. Meredith Walters]

Bad Rep

Maysie Ardin is soaking up the summer before her junior year of college, shopping, hanging by the pool, and shopping some more. But when her black belt in spending lands her in trouble with her parents, she is forced to take a second job at a local bar to dig herself out of a deep financial pit. She thought she'd be miserable. But then Maysie didn't count on Jordan Levitt, the hot, pierced and tattooed, drum-playing bartender who also happens to be very interested in her. And the feelings are totally mutual. It had the makings of the perfect romantic setup. Boy meets girl. Boy likes girl. Boy has girlfriend? Okay, maybe not....

"Who gives a damn about their reputation? Oh, that would be me! Especially since mine had gone straight to hell in the span of 30 minutes."

Maysie Ardin is soaking up the summer before her junior year of college, shopping, hanging by the pool, and shopping some more. But when her black belt in spending lands her in trouble with her parents, she is forced to take a second job at a local bar to dig herself out of a deep financial pit.

It had the makings of the perfect romantic setup. Boy meets girl. Boy likes girl. Boy has girlfriend? Okay, maybe not.

But attraction is a hard thing to ignore and soon Jordan and Maysie find themselves in the middle of a gossip-induced firestorm. Maysie has to learn whether she can set aside her fear of public disapproval in order to be with the one she wants. Or will she let the opinions of others dictate her life and her heart?

    Story
"This book had angst, sweet romance, and hot sex! "

Bad Rep was a great story about love and acceptance. Maysie and Jordan’s journey was rocky and insanely HOT! The story is told from the point of view of Maysie, a twenty year old college junior who falls head-over-heels for her sexy, off-limits coworker Jordan. Jordan was hot. Like ridiculously hot. I swear I flipped back & forth so much on my feelings for Jordan I got whiplash. One minute he's all sweet hot rock god and the next he is douchy boy with a girlfriend asking another girl out! I went through many phases of both loving and hating Maysie & Jordan. I cheered for them, cried for them, and yelled at them. As you can tell this book was FILLED with drama! The gossipy, back stabbing, girl fight drama that is entertaining but gets old after a while. Fortunately, Jordan and Maysie's journey to love and trust far out shines all the annoying drama. Their attraction was immediate and their romance was insanely hot! I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a simple fun sexy story. On a side note, my friend who read the book shared the author's acknowledgments with me. The author was thanking some of her special people, “Particularly my wonderful husband, who is the true inspiration for Jordan and all his kick ass, rock god ways. We met in a bar. He was the sexy, guitar playing Brit and I couldn’t resist. Kind if fun knowing that Jordan was based on a real person.

    Story
    "Do not waste a credit!!"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A different narrator. She spoke WAY TOO fast and cannot do a mans voice AT ALL!!

What was most disappointing about A. Meredith Walters’s story?

Couldn't get past the first chapter. Listen to her interpretation of what a mans voice should sound like!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I've already answered that question for you!!!

    Any additional comments?

    No.

    Story
"Too YA for this hard core Romance Junkie!"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, my friends are hard core Romance Junkies and this was light fluff compared to BDB or Cross. This book is for the college age crowd!

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Well it was a college girl, booze and sex fest. Enough said.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    No

    Any additional comments?

It was a good YA book for Vanilla folks that likes a scared girl that doesn't stand up to her parents or her man from this jaded romance junkie, lol..... Its for the college crowd and is good for them just not for me....lol

    Story
    "Strong, Addictive Characters"
What did you love best about Bad Rep?

All of the characters are relatable - full of weaknesses and strengths. They are all very real.

What does Madeleine Lambert bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Good speed, full range of voices, nice performance.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Maysie is obsessed with being popular. She buys friends through the ridiculous college Greek system which is always demeaning and, in reality, should be antiquated by now. She makes me angry with her choices but this adds to realness to the story. She finds herself in the end but it is a long, interesting journey for the listener.
