Publisher's summary

Cath Talarico knows a mistake when she makes it, and God knows she's made her share. So many, in fact, that this Chicago girl knows London is her last, best shot at starting over. But bad habits are hard to break, and soon Cath finds herself back where she has vowed never to go…in the bed of a man who is all kinds of wrong: too rich, too classy, too uptight for a free-spirited troublemaker like her.

Nev Chamberlain feels trapped and miserable in his family's banking empire. But beneath his pinstripes is an artist and bohemian struggling to break free and lose control. Mary Catherine - even her name turns him on - with her tattoos, her secrets, and her gamine, sex-starved body, unleashes all kinds of fantasies. When blue blood mixes with bad blood, can a couple that is definitely wrong for each other ever be perfectly right? And with a little luck and a lot of love, can they make last night last a lifetime?

Best romance novel I've listened to in a while

This is the absolutely least problematic romance novel I've read in a long time! My only gripe with this is that Cath doesn't really initiate sex. But other than that, this book passes all the feminist requirements!
Sure, the ending is a bit predictable and a little over the top, but I swear that the rest of the plot is almost impossible to predict. Get ready for curve balls!

About Last Night by Ruthie Knox

Where does About Last Night rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

LOVED IT! Excellent narration by Coleen Marlo

What did you like best about this story?

City. He is fabulous. Stellar book boyfriend material. Completely in love with Cath and not afraid to do what it takes to work around her quirks to show her just how much she means to him.

Have you listened to any of Coleen Marlo’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first time I've listened to a book she's narrated.

Any additional comments?

ABOUT LAST NIGHT by Ruthie Knox is one of my all-time favorite books! I read it the first time back in 2012 and fell in love with Cath and City. I grabbed the audible copy up when I saw it on the discount list and fell in love all over again... maybe even more so when I listened to this wonderful story narrated with the delightful British accent of Coleen Marlo.

Nev Chamberlain "City" is in my top five book boyfriend list. This sexy Brit is kind, thoughtful, a sexy artist wrapped up in a stylish business suit, and not afraid to go the extra mile to win the love of the woman who has stolen his heart. Mary Catherine "Cath" Talarico has worked hard to put her past mistakes completely behind her and is certain "City" is all wrong for her.... or that she is all wrong for him. But she can't make herself stay away (and I wouldn't even try) and finds herself wrapped in his arms night after night.

This story is so good that even though I've read it twice before, I was up until the early hours of the morning to get to the end in one sitting... again. The writing is excellent, the dialogue witty and engaging, the main characters are both impossible not to love, the romance is as sigh-worthy as it gets, and the sex scenes are steamy and sensual acts of love. 5 stars.

Lovely!

**Audible edition"

Don't you hate it when you let a book linger without reviewing right away then you forget all of the brilliant things you weresure to say?

Well, this book was really, REALLY good M/F contemporary romance, made even better by a killer narration. Audiobook fans, give this one a go. It was an inexpensive audiobook (bought the ebook then the audiobook through Amazon for cheap) and it was SO worth it. The story was light, sexy, and funny and just overall easy listening.

light and easy romance

All in all, this book was okay, but I started to lose interest around the middle of the book. I forced myself to continue regardless. I will say that the author writes well, with sexy love scenes, tender moments and flowing dialogue. I truly liked the beginning of this book. It was the best part. The premise of the book was good, but it just didn't develop or deliver the way I'd hoped. Basically, Mary Catherine is a girl with a past, which she keeps under wraps but also wears on her body in the form of tattoos. She's made mistake after mistake, and they've all cost her, emotionally and physically. She decides to turn her life around and start fresh, never again to make such mistakes. This becomes difficult once Nev enters the picture. She is trying so, so hard to be a good girl, but Nev some how gets past her barriers. Nev Chamberlain has lived the life expected of him. A respectable job in the family business, the proper wardrobe, the right friends. But he doesn't want to live like this, never has. He's been trying to break out of the mold his family has placed him in for years. This point is driven home once he meets Cath. He realizes that he needs to find himself, change his ways, live his own life. Suddenly, their casual relationship gradually gets less casual before they realize it. But they both keep some very important secrets, secrets that could ruin them or bring them closer. It makes for some major tension and way over the top angst. I just felt it was too melodramatic! I can't figure out why I just couldn't connect with these characters.
