Publisher's summary

A mythic warrior who'll stop at nothing to possess her....

After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he's waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one. This Emmaline is a small, ethereal half Valkyrie/half vampire, who somehow begins to soothe the fury burning within him.

A vampire captured by her wildest fantasy....

Sheltered Emmaline Troy finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents - until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae - and their notorious dark desires - ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.

An all-consuming desire....

Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that can bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be?

Love it!

Where does A Hunger Like No Other rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Of all the books I've listened to this one is very near the top.

What other book might you compare A Hunger Like No Other to and why?

Might compare it to Jeaniene Frost's Cat & Bones tales. Don't we all just love "beauty and the beast" stories.

What does Robert Petkoff bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The Scottish accent just does it for me. He makes Lachlain sound exactly what I picture him to be like. Great narrating.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Extreme pleasure yes.

Any additional comments?

Cannot wait to get to the rest of the series.

Awesome start to a new series.

I loved this book, and I have high hopes for the series. I will admit that this series may not be for everybody. At first I was a little worried that it was going to be too violent between the H/h and even with it being borderline in some instances it was never intentional or without reason. With that being said I still loved this book. Right away the story drew me in and I was rooting for both Emmaline and Lachlain. I appreciated the fact Emmaline stuck up for herself even when she was terrified of Lachlain. Let's just say in the beginning that Lachlain wasn't the nicest of guys and was half mad with the horror he had been through. In the end this book has some of my favorite subjects to read about Lykae, Vampires, Valkyries and a bunch more supernatural creatures. I'm looking forward to the next book. Now for the narrator he was super sexy and I would love to have him talking to me in the dark anytime. If you like this book I recommend authors Sherrilyn Kenyon, Larissa Ione, Thea Harrison, or Gena Showalter.

Fifteen years and still going strong!🧛‍♀️⚡️🐺🎧🥰

Revisiting the series [via Aubible] to prep for next IAD novella. Emma and Lachlain are still a great couple. This was a fantastic read, but the narration made it so much more. Robert Petkoff must be protected at all costs!

One of my favorites

I’m on probably my 4th or 5th read through of the entire series and this remains one of my favorite IAD novels. Probably because we get introduced to three of the major players in the Lore, the Valkyrie, the Lycae, and the vampires. It’s fun to reread and see how well Kresley Cole set this series up from the very beginning and what has yet to play out that we can still look forward to.

Narration: Robert Petkoff is brilliant. No one else could possibly do these books justice, he’s truly made the audiobook and experience.

My new favorite narrator!

After my huge disappointment with the narration of Cole's prequel The Warlord Wants Forever, I was ready to be disappointed again. How wrong I was!
A romance star is born and his name is Robert Petkoff.
I'm not even half way through the audiobook A Hunger Like No Other and I felt compelled to write a review. In this first book in the Immortals After Dark series, many characters are introduced and most are female. This could be a challenge for a male narrator but Petkoff does not disappoint. Each female character I've heard so far is recognizable and distinct. And his characterization of the male lead Lachlain is spot on; his Scottish brogue is smooth and sexy. Timing and pacing is excellent. Petkoff is an accomplished narrator, but this appears to be his first step into the Romance genre. I hope he continues to narrate this series.

A decent beginning to a great series

I've listened to 1-5 in this series. This first book was my least favorite. The good news is that it only gets better from here, and this first one was an enjoyable listen. Overall, this author really knows how to deliver a well-paced, action-packed romantic adventure. The problem is I didn't particularly like either character in the beginning. He's a bit of an un-evolved caveman. She's a bit of a wuss. I wasn't fond of the dominant/submissive tone of their relationship. Fortunately, I hung in there. As the characters develop further, he loses some of his caveman act as he works out his inner strife, and she discovers her backbone. Some people might be too turned off to hang in there long enough to witness the shift. If you're not into seductive "rape" scenes but do like romantic action adventures, you could easily skip to book 2 and not miss much. Don't give up on this author too early. She does deliver good entertainment. Robert Petkoff, the narrator, is generally ah-may-zing, but the falsetto that he chose for this heroine was a little grating. I'll forgive him as he does everything else so well.
