Johnny McCabe rides to California to visit the grave of his late wife, and to visit a brother he hasn't seen in 17 years. But everything with his brother is not as it appears.

Would skip this one

Turner reads so slow sometimes sounds like he has had one too many to drink. Slurring words Could hardly listen to the third book. Will not buy any more read by him. The story goes beyond believable unlike the first two books in the series

So Much Fun

Cowboys! Betrayal! Family Values! Love Story! Shoot ‘Em Up! Saving The Day! Not too Gory! Great Narration! Somewhat of a Believable Plot! What’s not to love!?!
I recommend this book for just about every age. It’s not left or right, just kind hearted, good ole fashioned story telling.

Great series, wonderful narrator

Some people say the narrator, J. Rodney Turner, speaks too slow. Others that his voice is too soft. You can speed up the narration if you find it slow. His voice is mellow, except when he is doing voices. He is one narrator where I can tell who is speaking without him saying so as he modulates his voice so well! Turn up the volume if you think he isn’t loud enough.

I enjoyed this book a lot. It helps tie in loose ends, rounds out the other books, as well as brings a family together…and adds elements to be further investigated in another book.

Worth the time invested!

Great storyline

I’ve completely enjoyed listening to this book and the whole “McAbe “ saga. I look forward to the next book. I think it’s Boom Town

A good western series

I suggest that you read the series in order. I have four books left in this series.

Best Series Ever...

Superb story with compelling character development is told by non other than J. Rodney Turner, a narrator without peers in the western genre.

Fast becoming one of my Favorite Authors and Narrators

This series has been great so far. I’m not sure what I’m going to do when I reach the end of it. The narrator is spot on and fits the McCabe family perfectly.

Brad Dennison is a great author! The McCabes are a great family of honor and justice! Such a great western of the human heart! Getting Boom Town right now! Please keep making the audio versions of these books!!!

Entertaining, but a little absurd.

Like the dime novels mentioned so often in this series I felt like this book went a little too close to the absurd. As with many tv series nowadays, this book lost its way in the third season. I have loved these stories as I am a fan of the west, but this one did not live up to the first two.
