Publisher's summary

"This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need to be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life."

Those familiar with any part of the Bible will recognize John 3:16, with a mind-altering difference. The words are fresh, new, and sound like the 21st century. That's because they are from The Message, a presentation of the Word of God crafted for a modern age. Eugene Peterson, translator and editor, learned from his years of teaching and pastoring that most people, through familiarity or frustration with the Bible, were missing the whole message of Scripture: the Word that God uses to create and save us, heal and bless us, judge and rule over us. So he set out to give us that word in language we use every day, a reading Bible that would enable the Word to penetrate our hearts and minds, transforming us day by day into the person God desires us to be.

thank you so much

It is really difficult for me to read. I have low reading comprehension and bad eye sight so I never thought I'd be '$Ible to read the Bible. Being able to listen was so amazing, and I'm overwhelmed with the grace of God! thank you for taking the time to create this audio book

This is it!!!

What made the experience of listening to The Message the most enjoyable?

I know the Author!! The real One

What did you like best about this story?

FREEEEDOM !!!!!!

Which character – as performed by Kelly Ryan Dolan and Carol Nix – was your favorite?

Well they did them all justice

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

no!!! To much information, have to read/listen then think about it, implement it. This is not a storybook, this is life changing. It is not a once off book anyway

Fresh hearing of old words

I grew up with the scriptures. sometimes I think I know a passage so well that I don't really listen to it. when I listen to the message, they sound new again

Disappointed the reader has angry irritated tone

The book is great. I love this version. However when the voice reads the words with an angry or irritated tone.
The person has a very nice voice, but hearing the bible read in a way that sounds angry and irritated takes away from
the beauty of this book. The Message is a Beautiful Translation and should read by someone that reads it in a more
loving tone. It would be nice if person would update the audio version with a nicer tone of voice. Maybe he was trying
to be strict and authoritative.

Toooooo much music

Would you consider the audio edition of The Message to be better than the print version?

NO !!!

Would you ever listen to anything by Eugene H. Peterson again?

Yes

Any additional comments?

Why 'they' would put the same music as first in all chapters and continually play it when
Carol Nix reads only God knows cuz I sure don't.
I really, really like the New Message Bible but if Audible does not have one without the ?music? in it I'll just continue to read it.
I returned the audio book.

Great Rendering

Happy to have an audio version of this delightful and meaningful translation. Narration is good. Only complaint-- annoying and non-complementary music.

So thankful for this!

I love reading this version, as it breathes new life into the scriptures for me and brings in some of the flavor and color that may not always be present if you've become really familiar with certain passages. This makes it all seem new again. Not a study Bible, but a fantastic reading Bible for just getting a new perspective on familiar stories. It draws you in and makes it very readable and easy to understand. I find myself listening for much longer than I planned to, as I get caught up in the story. I really, really wish they'd release the OT in this version on audio, too. I've been looking for it for years.
