How can it be? When we're naked and ashamed and alone in our brokenness, Christ envelops us with his intimate grace. When we're rejected and abandoned and shattered beyond wanting, Jesus cups our faces: "Come close, my beloved." When we're dirty and tear-stained and despairing, Jesus Christ proposes undying dying love: "All that you painfully are and are carrying - I'll take. All that I perfectly am and have is yours. Just take me."
There is a wooing that washes our wounds. Falling into this intimacy with him is the one thing we pray to never recover from. This kind of intimacy can only be tasted and swallowed, and it burns a holy yes through our begging veins.
Am I willing to take all that I have, break, and give to him?
Because all that he is he broke and gave to us.

The book is probably amazing, I love Ann Voskamp but the narrator is painful to listen to. She has loud, sharp intakes of breath every 3 words. It is completely louder than her reading & doesn't give any more feeling to the narration but just distracts. I couldn't even get through the first chapter. Get the book on Kindle.
If you've ever heard Ann read her own writings or even speak, you won't be able to listen to this audible version. The narrator rips it to shreds. I couldn't even make it through the first chapter and I cringed the entire way.
Ann writes like liquid, silk poetry.
I'm sure the narrator did her best but Ann's work should only be read by her.
Ann Voskamp took me deep into the beliefs I held about brokenness. She has challenged the very core of the idea that we need to "heal" from our brokenness and instead challenges us to LIVE from our brokenness. In doing so, she also challenges the way we approach the brokenness we encounter in this world and in others. Jamie Paul's narration of this book added even more meaning to the words and the heart of Ann. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to discover more meaning and depth in this life we live.
Few books keep my mind attentive and soaring to meet the reality of my Beloved Savior as Ann Voskamp book, The Broken Way, has. My heart rejoices at the heartbeat of communion and blessed ability God has entrusted Ann with words.
I highly recommend this book if you desire to take your Christianity from being nominal to phenomenal by the power of our gracious God. To GOD be ALL the GLORY
The content of this book is wonderful so I plan to buy the tangible version. The audiobook suffers. I cannot get past the preachy voice to the content. I have tried to suffer through it because I love listening to books while I work. But the constant preachy tone and lack of sentence cadence is like listening to scratching on a chalkboard. The author is awesome, but please redo the audiobook.
the broken way is an amazing and life changing book! I had to go purchase a hard copy as well because I had to feel it in my hands. I have listened to its entirety and cannot wait to begin again!
The minute I finished this book, I started again at page 1. It is so packed full of knowledge, encouragement and truths I needed to hear, it is worth more than a few rewinds.
The reader is not the author, but manages to add the perfect emphasis, pauses and inflection to make you feel as though you are sitting across the table from her with a cup of coffee in your hand.
Reading Ann Voskamp is a great experience. Getting to hear it read aloud is to capture fuller meaning and greater appreciation for the beauty of her word-smithing! The Broken Way is full of rich analogy that helped me grasp what Christ has given me in His broken offering.
