Publisher's summary

He Speaks in the Silence is the story of Diane Comer's search for the kind of intimacy with God every woman longs for. It is a story of trying to be a good girl, of following the rules, of longing for a satisfaction that eludes us.

Disappointed with all Diane had been told was supposed to fulfill her, she begged God in desperation to give her more. And he did. But first he took her through a trial so debilitating it almost destroyed what little faith she had. He let her go deaf.

Like so many Christians, Diane thought she'd signed up for the "wonderful plan for your life", and deafness certainly didn't fit her idea of a wonderful life. Yet in her brokenness, God met her and lifted her out of the pit of despair she was digging for herself. He lifted her onto the solid rock of real faith and taught her to believe he is good even when life goes bad.

Using vivid parallels between her deafness and every woman's struggle to hear God, this audiobook reveals how Diane learned to listen to God, finding intimacy with her savior and the soul-deep satisfaction she longs for.

Amazing Journey

Thank you Diane for Hearing Him in your silence. This book is a must for anyone walking in the silence and yet desiring to hear God in that silence. Diane’s heart is clearly heard in her words, as is her experience of many years of the audiological journey of hearing loss. Thank you for your faithfulness in your journey and to share you experience. Both in the physical, as well as the spiritual awakening you enjoy. Your testimony is being used greatly.

I loved this so much!

the vulnerability and honesty with which she writes will bring a tear to your eye and absolutely deep in your walk with Christ. I know it has for me! I did not lose the juxtaposition of listening to an audiobook on what it is like to lose one's hearing. I think that made it all the more sweet.

Uplifting stoic strength

A woman whose love of family, children’s laughter and desperation brought her closer to her God. A God she clings to in her anger and her pure joy as life unfolds itself. Beautifully written, honest, raw.

What a Testimony

I loved every bit of this story. I so loved the authenticity. I, too, was a “good girl” who hid behind that smiling mask when my world was a chaotic mess. When I finally learned I could be authentic with God and those around me (well, some of them) I grew exponentially in my walk with the Lord. Thank you, Diane! The narrator was a little irritating when she lowered her voice to try and sound like a man and raised it to sound like a woman speaking. Just read the book, don’t act it out. It was distracting. But other than that, it was great! I highly recommend this book to anyone who is struggling to believe that God is good!
