Publisher's summary

Widely acclaimed author Mark Buchanan states what we've really lost is "[T]he rest of God - the rest God bestows and, with it, that part of Himself we can know only through stillness".

Stillness as a virtue is a foreign concept in our society, but there is wisdom in God's own rhythm of work and rest. Jesus practiced sabbath among those who had turned it into a dismal thing, a day for murmuring and finger-wagging, and he reminded them of the day's true purpose: liberation - to heal, to feed, to rescue, to celebrate, to lavish and relish life abundant.

With this audiobook, Buchanan reminds us of this and gives practical advice for restoring the sabbath in our lives.

The simplicity that Mark explained the sabbath and rest.

I enjoyed how he unfold the mystery and foundation of the savage, how it should be incorporated with much joy and excitement, which allows freedom in this gift from God.

Beautiful perspective on rest

This book was amazing and really guided me through rest, how to find it, and the value behind it. Rest is truly necessary for success and balance in life.

a good reminder

life is busy and only getting busier. this book is a great reminder of the "why" of sabbath, and a framework to think about the "how".

What a breath of fresh air! Learning to practice Sabbath as an imperfect human.

This was so well-read! Eric Michael Summerer was an incredible narrator. I say this first because it was so integral to giving the teachings of this book, and teachings that I will carry for the rest of my life. What a beautiful way Mark Buchanan has helped describe, explain and live Sabbath. It truly is God’s gift to us and it is something to be celebrated! Enjoy this journey on how resting in God’s love and creation looks/feels/exemplifies in your life.

Wonderful reminder

I definitely think I will be coming back to this book often for reminders on practicing and enjoying rest in the form of Sabbath, especially. I am new to the journey of Sabbath, and I find myself craving that time more and more.

I get it now

I’ve been struggling for MONTHS to understand why I should Sabbath. I know God commanded it and that it’s a gift. But I had so much to get done! I didn’t have time to take a whole day off doing...what? Sitting around? But now I understand. This book spoke directly to me about all the things I’ve been struggling with when it comes to sabbath. And these are things that directly affect other areas of my life and the call God has on me. So yes, I 100% recommend this book.
