Publisher's summary

In this illuminating audio experience, Deepak Chopra invites listeners to experience the therapeutic power of sound through language and music. In Volume I, Deepak explains how language forms our material reality and shapes our beliefs and behavior. Listeners are treated to a selection of sacred verses from the Bhagavad Gita that spontaneously generate insight, intuition, and inner harmony.

In Volume II, Deepak continues with a selection of hymns and prayers from an ancient Indian scripture, the Rig Veda. Filled with praise to the gods, the elements, and the bounty of the earth, the recording takes listeners on an unforgettable journey into the true nature of the universe. The more one listens to these sacred verses, the more one gains from the healing power contained within the sound of the verse themselves.

Valuable data

Deepak is full of data. I found him mononotous as a narrator. The music in the background and narration was but out of phase.

Give it a chance...

On first listen, I wasn't sure what to make of this because it is definitely different.
After a while I started to really get into the narration of the Gita and the music behind it. I've lost count of how many times I've went back and re-listened to this because of the beauty of the blend of words and music.
My only complaint is that it is too short, I wish that he would have done all 18 chapters.

More like 3.75

The quality of the audio isn't great on the download. The sitar music overshadows the readings somewhat. It's a certian style of reading and think there is alot of missing parts from the original. However, it is very beautiful and very insightful into the some of the meaning

Alright

It's hard to find a reading of these scriptures without some sort of commentary. Overall it was a nice listen but I just wish to hear the words from the story and not what people have interpreted from them.

Incredibly useful

Across the spectrum of ancient and revered spiritual texts, this is one of the most practically useful. It is both profound and wrenchingly poignant, in that all of Arjuna's spiritual realizations with Krishna occur on the very battlefield itself--as he is fighting to the death against his own family. It is also one of the most compelling descriptions of mystical-type experience that I've found (e.g., transformative experiences that happen spontaneously and that are often described as "ineffable," or beyond words). I've come back to this iteration many times over the years, and I continue to draw insight and wisdom from it that is directly applicable to the present moment in my life, whatever it may be. Extraordinary as a karma yoga meditative practice when landscaping, preparing a meal, driving to work, etc. To quote the Gita, "Cut the path of ignorance. Conquer the path of ignorance. Enjoy the path of enlightenment. All your enemies have already been slain."

My most cherished audiobook

Probably one of my most cherished purchases that I have ever made. In times of sadness/pain/happiness/absence Deepak Chopra's words/tone will bring you inner peace.

The songs and background make for an experience like no other. Explanations and clarifications of each chapter allow for a better understanding and leave room for your own guided interpretations.

I've come back to this audiobook on countless occasions and each reading brings something new.

But then again I might be all wrong and you might hate the audiobook, but you won't know until you try.

well done. I will listen many times

once you are past Dr. Chopra ' s lisp he actually has a very meditative voice. love the back ground music. much of the content is big but it is presented in a way that will make it stick a bit to the brain cells. for use in practical application and in meditating through conflict and anxieties.

Music louder than narration

I enjoyed the topic and content very much but the music was too loud. Difficult to hear.

Excellent to listen to at bedtime

This audiobook is wonderful to listen to at bedtime, and while I usually fall asleep early into it, it always seems I sleep much better after having fallen asleep to it.
